Edward from Pittsburgh,PA
“Hotel is located 3-4 minutes walking distance from Olympia subway station which makes it very easy to travel throughout the city. The rooms are spacious with all the amenities.” Oct 12, 2009 by
Sylvia from Sherwood Park,Canada
“The hotel was excellent, but there was not much selection for restaurants nearby, without a lot of walking. The man at the desk was not friendly.” Sep 3, 2009 by
Vonda from Naperville,IL
“This hotel was a great quality hotel (especially for Europe). It was clean and very conveniently located. It was just off the tube and near bus lines to almost every tourist attraction.” Jun 15, 2009 by
Michael from Rancho Cordova,CA
“Nice hotel, good location, great staff, very nice rooms.” Jun 3, 2009 by
Kelly from Walnut,CA
“Not a 4 star hotel more like 3.” May 21, 2009 by
Shari from Coral Gables,FL
“4 star for a Hilton chain hotel is too high although it matches standard used for British style hotel at this star. My room seem to have been renovated, and I actually enjoyed the modern decoration.” May 20, 2009 by
Kush from Hoboken,NJ
“I would stay away from this hotel. I am a frequent business traveler to London. This hotel is quite far 10 -15 minutes walk from the tube and that would be worth it if it had any redeeming qualities whatsoever. The lobby is fine but it has shabby hallways with threadbare carpeting, tiny dilapidated rooms and an unhealthy dose of unfriendly staff. There are much better options available.” May 10, 2009 by
Day from Miami,FL
“Loved this hotel. Conveniently located, not in city center but very accessible by bus or underground (station two minute-walk away). There are few places to eat breakfast close by and the restaurant is pretty expensive.” May 7, 2009 by
John from Spring Hill,KS
“Our hotel was extremely friendly and helpful with an older charm to greet you outside yet modern when inside. Everyone was very willing to help in any way and loved hearing their true English accent since we're from North America.” Apr 27, 2009 by
Martha from New York,NY
“Staff friendly and helpful. Bathroom not the best, but worked out okay. The linens were good enough.” Dec 10, 2008 by
Alexander from Irvine,CA
“The hotel was reasonably priced, but it did not feel at all like a 4 star hotel, more like a 2 or 3 stars. Old furniture, dirty bathrooms, far from the city centre.” Nov 1, 2008 by
j
“Great location, very small rooms and front desk staff gave poor customer service.” Sep 18, 2008 by
Irene
“I will never want to stay in this hotel again. The service is bad.” Sep 9, 2008 by
L. F. from Federal Way, WA
“This Hilton has obviously seen better days. It's old. We asked a non-smoking room but the room had obviously been smoked in. We respectfully asked to be given a non-smoking room, and were moved from the third floor on the back of the hotel (quiet) to the sixth floor (street side noisy), from a room where the air conditioner worked, to a room where the air conditioner did not (only the fan worked, blowing warm room temperature air), from a room where all the lights worked, to a room where two were burned out, from a room with a comfortable double bed, to a room where the bed, I am convinced, was two box springs put together to make up a kingsized bed. It creaked and popped all night long, anytime we moved and sometimes when we were not moving. Lessons learned? 1) Those who ask to be moved will be punished, and 2) This is a Hilton hotel? My, how the mighty have fallen.” Sep 6, 2008 by
Ester from North Vancouver, BC CA
“Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.” Sep 5, 2008 by
Kerry from Bremerton, WA
“I really liked this hotel, the location is a tad out of the way but if you have no problem taking the local busses, you can get anywhere. I spent a lot of time at the McDonald's down the street to use their free WiFi since the internet access in the room was not working. I loved the bathroom, the bath tub was perfect for a soaker after a long day of sightseeing. The staff was nice, but did not follow through with helping me on the internet problems. My room was on the Kensington High Street side which can be noisy for light sleepers, but I had the AC on all the time which drowned out all noise for me, so I had no problems with it. I would stay here again.” Aug 26, 2008 by
Desirae M. from Buena Park, CA
“Good hotel overall. Not a lot of space but, it's Europe there never is. We did have to evacuate one night due to a fire alarm and they only had about 20 emergency blankets for a full hotel. Was not impresses by this at all especially when they were handing them to 20 something's and had none left for my small child. All in all good stay thought.” Aug 25, 2008 by
from Plano, TX
“The furniture is old. The carpet is dirty. The bed is very old, the mattress supposed to be white color, but it's turned in to brown color. The sink faucet is loose, so it's not function well. It has a bit smell. Bath room need to be remodeled.” Aug 20, 2008 by
Kseniya from New York, NY
“The hotel was not centrally located but could be reached by bus or the Metro. However on Sundays one has to be aware that the Metro does not run with the exception of one line. The hotel was very clean and offered amenities such a tea kettle in every room, which provided the option of an inexpensive breakfast in the room (instant oatmeal!). For the traveler concerned with saving money this was a good choice. However the poor water pressure in the shower, and odd height of the tub made our stay in the hotel less than great.” Aug 14, 2008 by
Clive R. from Vancouver, AB CA
“This hotel is definitely not what one would think of as 4-star. For example the paint was peeling in the room, we were woken at 5:30 am due to thin walls and loud noises. Moreover it is at least 30 minutes from Central London by bus and has very poor tube train (subway) service which do not operate very frequently. Food is expensive at the restaurants and the cost of internet access, at 15 pounds (approx $30) per day, or even 3 pounds (approx. $6) for 15 minutes in the cafe was bad.” Aug 7, 2008 by
Heather from Glendora, CA
“The weather was very hot when we were in London and the air conditioner did not work in one of our rooms. Contacted front desk to look at air conditioner and to fix. It took approximately one hour before someone came to our room to look at the problem, calling front desk twice. The engineer concluded that the AC did not work. He said that he would bring up a portable AC unit. That took another hour, again calling front desk two to three times. When someone finally came with the portable AC unit. It was not an AC unit it was a heater. Again called the front desk and demanded that we get a new room. Approximately one half hour later a key to the new room was dropped off and no help was offered to us for our inconvenience. It was now well after midnight. When we got to our new room the ac did not work in that room either. I was disappointed with the quality of service at this Hilton.” Aug 6, 2008 by
Ehab from Springfield Gardens, NY
“Overall, this is a fairly decent hotel in a decent location, but I wouldn't consider it as a 4 star. However, there is really nothing special about it in any way. The room was very plain. It was quiet so I got a good night's sleep. But the view from my room was terrible. Nothing was included like internet or breakfast.” Aug 6, 2008 by
Marilyn from Monroe Twp, NJ
“Nice lobby, rest of place was rundown - extremely small room, stained carpets in hallways and rooms, 15 min walk from Underground. Close to moderate priced shopping and restaurants.” Aug 3, 2008 by
Frank from Rancho Palos Verdes, CA
“The hotel is an older hotel with moderate sized rooms (large by European standards) but in bad need of renovation. My room had several severe problems including no air conditioning, a bathroom with obvious plastering problems, a 6 foot high ceiling in the shower (I am 6'4) and generally an outdated interior in bad need of upgrade. The beds were of extremely low quality and small. On the good side, it is only a 10 minute walk from the Kensington High Tube stop. The closer stop Kensington Olympia does not provide frequent service and not recommended for anyone who does not have extra hours to waste. Overall, the hotel was not close to the four star rating assigned to it. But the price on is significantly lower than other hotels in London and that needs to be considered.” Jul 26, 2008 by
Brian from Calgary, AB CA
“We thought the hotel was outstanding for the price- very clean and spacious from what we had heard about London hotels. The staff was outstanding and the room exceeded our expectations.” Jul 24, 2008 by
Larry from Mcpherson, KS
“Great location with easy access to the tube, buses, Kensington Ave shops, restaurants and Hyde Park. The bed was comfortable and we enjoyed a nice view of the city. Staff was very friendly and the concierge even let us use his computer for 60 seconds to check for one urgent email (the hotel rates for internet access are way too high). We would be pleased to stay there again.” Jul 24, 2008 by
Martial P. from Varennes, QC CA
“This hotel very well located with his friendly staff. Easy access by train or buses. Close to a lot attractions, stores, pubs.” Jul 21, 2008 by
Hillery from Red Oak, TX
“If you need a place to sleep, and price is not an issue it would be great. But for the price this hotel leaves much to be desired.” Jul 17, 2008 by
Hocksen from Montreal, QC CA
“All the staff is friendly and helpful except one of the staff try to charge 30 pounds cash for less than 12 hours internet connection. It's not nice to happen in Hilton Hotel.” Jul 15, 2008 by
Bill from New York, NY
“This hotel was clean and had a comfortable bed. It was inexpensive. This was not ideal for getting into and back from Central London for the five days of my trip. (I felt like a commuter and so that made me feel like a local, I suppose.) I think Americans will expect more from a Hilton. This was little bare bones in terms of room furnishings and appointments.” Jul 15, 2008 by
Paul from Ottawa, ON CA
“Hotel is clean and comfortable, though a little worn out by North American hotel standards. Full bath a welcome sight. Bed not particularly comfortable. Air conditioning not very effective, but enough to take the bite off a hot day in July. Location is a bit beyond the fringe of downtown, but handy to Kensington Olympia underground station, which offers infrequent trains to Earl's court where you must change for the District or Piccadilly Lines if you are headed for London's West End, City, or tourist destinations. Just beyond comfortable walking distance to Victoria & Albert Museums. ATM at Post Office, located about 150 yards north on Kensington High Street, accepts North American debit cards and spits out British currency. Nearby pubs and restaurants offer a mix of British and international foods. Breakfast at the hotel is extra, and it is priced for the business traveler on an expense account, not for tourists. Internet modem in room, but we did not use. Hotel offers use of internet terminals in lobby and adjacent cafe for outrageous price of 3 GBP for 15 minutes. Also at nearby Kensington Olympia station, one can catch an hourly British Rail train to/from Gatwick Airport (14 GBP each way), only 40 minutes travel time. Cheaper, quicker, and more convenient than taking the tube to Victoria for the Gatwick Express. To sum up: Adequate room. Pricey extras. Not a particularly convenient location for downtown connections, but very handy to Gatwick.” Jul 8, 2008 by
Mark from Altamonte Springs, FL
“We were placed in a room that was truly awful, small and airless with 1 tiny window that opened into an internal void and faced another rooms tiny window. Shower that leaked across the whole bathroom and flooded. Air conditioning that didn't work and 2 phone calls to get a fan so that we could sleep. Mattress on bed had no support and hit the base when sat on the bed. Internal telephone rang out and had to try 3 numbers before someone picked up - This is not what I expect from a 4 star hotel especially a Hilton - very disappointed. They changed our room the next day as repairman the previous night agreed that we had no air conditioning. The new room was much better with 2 large windows but poor air-conditioning so still had to use the fan. Would never stay there again. Would rate this hotel as a moderate 2-2.5 star.” Jun 30, 2008 by
Carey from Brooklyn, NY
“The room was clean and the hotel staff that I came in contact with was helpful and professional. Be sure to make alternate plans for making international phone class. The hotel charges 4 pound per minute for a call to the US.” Jun 29, 2008 by
Cindy from Hurst, TX
“Nice hotel, location accessible to tube & bus routes. Staff friendly and other than the room being too warm the stay was wonderful.” Jun 27, 2008 by
Eileen from Newbury Park, CA
“We wanted a pay per view movie, and they said that the outside company that provides them wouldn't be in until Monday to fix it. Then come Monday they overcharged us for the movie by 4lbs, even though on the TV it advertised a different price. When we called to complain they wouldn't even answer the phone.” Jun 16, 2008 by
John from Tampa, FL
“Even though I checked with the hotel in advance and was told it was close to a tube station, the tube station had been out of service since the first of the year. I had asked for connecting rooms due to our children but ended up with rooms on same floor but quite a distance apart. Air conditioning and phone did not work properly in one room and the movie service was not operational all three nights. Did have a discussion with the manager and for the last two nights they moved us to connecting rooms on a nicer floor. The staff was very helpful, however overall the hotel is not in what I call Hilton condition. Our first rooms were on 5th floor, pretty rough shape overall. Cracks in ceiling, carpet frayed, noisy AC fan, some AC outlets did not work, etc. Then they moved us to 4th floor which was in much better, but still many items needing correction.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jun 16, 2008 by

“Poorly managed Hilton hotel.” Jun 15, 2008 by
Valerie from Glendale, CA
“Dump. Not a quality hotel. I can't believe it's a Hilton. Thank god I was on my way to Italy.” Jun 6, 2008 by
William from Mobile, AL
“Overall, I was well satisfied for the price. It is in a fairly decent location. The concierge was very helpful.” Jun 3, 2008 by
Joe from Markham, ON CA
“Building is old, paint and carpet in common areas and corridors are in bad conditions. The bed is too soft. Only positive thing is that you can get onto a bus just cross the street, which is conveniently connected to the tube.” Jun 3, 2008 by
Dennis from Pt St Lucie, FL
“Some have complained of its location but we found it to be fine. We walked to Kensington Palace, the tube, stores, etc. with no problem. If you have trouble walking, you may need to consider a closer hotel to the city. We enjoyed our entire stay.” Jun 2, 2008 by
Simmie from Toronto, ON CA
“I found the London Hilton Olympia to be well situated and very well-served by buses however quite a hike from the tube. Actually the nearest tube station, Kensington Olympia, is one that hardly ever sees a train (it's the only one on the tube map in brackets!) The hotel staff were extremely helpful in giving directions and maps. I found the rooms to be a bit small, dingy and dated however they were clean and the bathrooms which could use makeovers had plenty of hot water and good pressure. I would stay here again provided that I could get a room with a better view than the one I initially had.” May 31, 2008 by
Jermaine from Brooklyn, NY
“The hotel location was fantastic, however I was disappointed with hotel as it didn't meet the 4 star rating.” May 29, 2008 by
Eric from Miami, FL
“Nice hotel, staff excellent, it's been updated in some areas, but the bathroom ceiling & shower needs to be updated.” May 29, 2008 by
Kimberly from Las Vegas, NV
“This hotel was great for my stay in London. The bus that runs right in front of the hotel is very convenient, highly recommended. The staff was very helpful and pleasant.” May 28, 2008 by
Brian from Orleans, ON CA
“Some rooms are not up to the overall standard of the hotel. Location is near a Subway station but only a reduced service spur line so that transfers are inevitable. Train and Subway station mean rooms on west side are noisy.” May 27, 2008 by
Hank from Toronto, ON CA
“Decent priced hotel, and very good location near underground and Japanese restaurant and other major street buses on Kensington Street. Close to Tesco supermarket. Safe and nice district in London. Staff are friendly and helpful.” May 26, 2008 by
Patricia from Castellon, SD
“In general terms, I like it. It's not a luxury Hilton but it has some of the things I like from Hilton Hotels such as friendly and helpful staff, very good toiletries, quick answer to requests, 24 hours room service. I don't like too much the location, a bit in the middle of nowhere, but it was handy for just a night coming from Heathrow.” May 25, 2008 by
Henry from Palatine, IL
“The hotel is about 10 minutes walking distance from High Street Kensington tube station. Buses 9, 10, 27 and 28 serve between the Tube station and the hotel. Location wise it is very convenient. High Street around the hotel has all kind of stores, including at least five grocery stores, and at 10 restaurants. Enjoyable neighborhood. My hotel room has 2 single beds, and a love sofa that serves as a bed also. So the room size is quite adequate. Negatives: 1. Lobby has about 6 armed chairs only. 2. No reading materials in the lobby. 3. A few black spots in my bathroom caulking. 4. Carpet is quite old.” May 25, 2008 by
Alicia from Castle Rock, WA
“Needs to have working AC and prices are way too high in the restaurant.”
