“As I am not a big fan of cruises I was a little apprehensive about this holiday but I need not have worried. The boat was very comfortable, if a little past its best - but that added to its character! The staff was very friendly and had a great sense of humor. The food was fine, not exactly haute cuisine but tasty, plentiful and efficiently served (part table service, part buffet). We particularly enjoyed the Egyptian buffet. There were only 24 of us who were British. The guided tours were excellent, but it was equally enjoyable to just sit on the sundeck watching timeless scenes of Egyptian life on the banks of the river - the way of life doesn't seem to have changed since Biblical times. We went in January so the weather was pleasant and not too hot. All in all a very enjoyable and interesting week, and full marks to Kuoni for good organization.” Nov 26, 2007 by

“There are many nice Nile cruise boats available but the Nile Romance simply is not one of them. This "5 star" facility's guest rooms in particular looked like something Id expect to see in a cheap motel back in the US. Some of the amenities including a minibar, radio and in room movies were nowhere to be found. Food quality was disappointing. When tea ran out early at the tea service (tea only, no coffee) we were told teatime was over, but told we could go downstairs to purchase tea at the bar.” Oct 7, 2007 by

“Nile romance calls itself a 5 star hotel but by American standards its worse than motel 6. The cabin we were in had two twin beds (so much for romance!) That were so small that even I had to literally lift myself when I needed to turn just so I fall off the bed and the mattresses were like cardboards. We called them the Flintstone beds. The furnishing/decor came out from the 70s and nothing matched, including the pictures on the wall. The front desk staff was nice enough, but the wait staff in the restaurant and bar was very rude and surly. We were forced to buy all beverages onboard, even water. I am ok with having to pay for soda and alcohol, but water! The first night during dinner the restaurant manager got angry with us and demanded we remove our bottled water (that was purchased outside) from our table when we were told earlier by another staff member it was ok to bring our own water. The manager was very hostile. The food was ok, but heaven forbid if you want to go for seconds. The massage table was dirty and I suspect used to be a vegetable stand in the bazaar with a cut out for your face. Oh, the Floatel also has an obsession with replacing our room towels, which I think used to be white but is now a sad dingy gray frayed pieces that they actually barged into our room at 9 pm while we were sleeping. There are lots of other things wrong with the Nile romance but my review is long enough as it is. If you are expecting a 5 star floating hotel you all are extremely disappointed, especially after youve walked through several great looking Floatel on the way to Nile romance.” May 30, 2007 by
