• Location.
• Management's disregard for customer service.

“As a platinum Marriott member for several years now, and having stayed in many Marriott's around the world, this by far is the worst. The executive lounge offers very limited selections and there is no restroom in the lounge. The fitness center is average. The rooms are average and some of the beds are very uncomfortable. Internet access is very expensive and not included. The worst thing about this hotel is management's lack of concern for customer service. Taking food out of the lounge to eat in your room is strictly prohibited, and the staff member working in the lounge is instructed to stop people if they remove anything.”

• Old, chipped bath. Charged twice.

“Hotel is a basic 4 star that really only meets a 3.5 star standard. The rooms were ok but strangely laid out and the bathroom had been renovated but the bathtub had not been replaced and was old and chipped.”

• Service was amazing, given a bottle of wine on 5th night.
• Nothing!

“After traveling all across Australia, it was so nice to stay in such luxury in Melbourne. We received champagne at check in and a bottle of wine for the two of us on our 5th night. The valet always had our car ready and the concierge and room service was great. I felt much taken care of and was very happy with my stay. I would recommend this hotel to friends.”

• The location is a bit far by within walking distance to everything.
• Outdated shower system.

“This Marriott is about average. The lobby is a bit tiny and there is only one restaurant. The location is right by China town and is within walking distance to the lively Bourke Street. The room is average size and clean. However, the shower/faucet is kind of outdated and inconvenient to use. My kids had hard time to turn off the faucet completely.”

• Staff was extremely professional and helpful.
• The beds and pillows were really uncomfortable.

“This hotel is quite beautiful from the outside. The rooms were good, but nothing special. The amenities were quite good. It had a heated salt water pool and spa and also a gym. If it were not for the beds we would have given a much higher score, but they were truly uncomfortable.”

• Nothing I can think of.

“Experienced outstanding service here - help was friendly and eager to assist. Information provided by the staff was complete, and when I sought services and dining outside the hotel, the staff provided me with several accurate options very willingly. Outstanding stay.”

• Very clean hotel, nice location, excellent beds! Staff was friendly.
• Parking was expensive (a day).

“The Melbourne Marriott is a lovely hotel. The location was great with train access nearby, lots of shopping, restaurants, and the old Melbourne goal close by. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were always immaculate and the beds were super comfortable! My only complaints were that the use of the parking garage was expensive ( a day), and the key cards were deactivated two days in a row for no reason before the staff fixed the problem¿s really enjoyed my stay at the Marriott. I would definitely stay there again.”

• Room and facilities all clean, spacious and comfortable. The bed has feather bed and quilt, 300thread count linens.
• Security pass to use elevators is sometimes cumbersome - but concept is great.

“Just off the main tourist tracks, but within walking distance to just about everything. A couple of blocks from all the fabulous shopping of Melbourne and a stone¿s throw from parks, museums and theatres. The nearby Melbourne tram and train system will take you anywhere more distant. The pool and spa are a treat at the end of the day. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Melbourne. Staff are helpful and polite.”

• Excellent room and very helpful and friendly staffs. 1/2 block to the free city tourist bus loop stop.
• Not centrally located for leisure travelers. Ideal for business travelers. Walking to popular tourist attractions though not far but far enough.

“Excellent hotel located in the northwest corner of the cbd while the shopping district and most tourist attractions are south and south central of the city for the leisure travelers. All requiring at least 15 to 20 minutes walk. The staffs are very friendly and helpful. On arrival, quests are offered cold water, orange juice and champagne. Free coffee/tea each weekday morning in the lobby.”

• So many hotels offer free wifi: about time this one did too.

• Hotel is of excellent quality, staff very professional and friendly. Room was large
• Located the top end of the Melbourne CBD it is quite a walk to most places

“ Room was very nice, very spacious and clean. Bathroom was a little small and outdated compared to newer hotels I have stayed in. The only negative with this hotel is that it is not central, located at the top end of the Melbourne CBD.”
