  • Great bar and staff.
  • Charges for items we hadn¿t had.

“Stayed here with the barmy army ashes tour, felt very welcome by all staff especially the doormen. great bar which was well used being as the weather was freezing (coldest mass for 20 years so imp told) the only downside was coming home and finding my credit card was debiteda#8 with no idea what for as we settled our bills before we left. But all in all a great place to staying and we'll be back in 2010.”

  • It was quiet and clean. The buffet breakfast was extensive.
  • No Internet in rooms; business center had few resources and no staff.

“This is a nice enough hotel. Unfortunately, it is not near any interesting restaurants/shops/etc. You can catch the tram into Melbourne or walk 20 minutes to St. Kilda. The hotel sits across from Albert Park and a lovely lake. If you like to take walks or jog, this is delightful; especially on the far side of the lake which is away from the crazy traffic. The restaurant staff are not particularly attentive; you have to ask multiple times to get coffee. The food at the hotel is fairly mediocre. The staff is not particularly helpful. They were also not apologetic or concerned that I was awakened two different times on two different days by workmen installing Internet cable.”

  • The renovated rooms are nice, clean.
  • The undecorated rooms are disgraceful, and renovated rooms can have noisy plumbing.

“Not really a good location to see Melbourne from, but I was there for a conference that was held at the hotel. Part of the hotel has been renovated, the renovated part is quite nice, so if you are going to stay there make sure you specifically book a renovated room. The old rooms are disgusting, gross carpet, paper peeling off the walls, no soap, cheap towels, bad smell etc. Went through an amazing amount of hassle to change rooms, even though everyone else I knew at the conference was in the nicer renovated area. I was eventually told to pack up all my stuff and that it would all be moved for me by the end of the day, yet nothing was done, and faced an argument with very rude and unhelpful staff to deal with this continued problem. Generally, not really worth it for the money, there are many nicer hotels in Melbourne with better locations and friendlier staff. Stay somewhere else. ”
