“Great location but small rooms. The hotel staff trys to convince you to "upgrade" to a deluxe room for 20 pounds but I looked at both rooms and they are identical. This is not something I expect at a "4" star hotel.” Sep 13, 2005 by
Diane from Staten Island, NY
“Front desk was curtious and attentive. We were treated with kid gloves. I would recommend this hotel to all that travel to London. Prime location in the heart of the city with easy access to all by foot or tube.” Sep 12, 2005 by
Debbie from Richmond Hill, CA
“Lovely hotel in great location, for the price. Room included lots of "neat" features -- including heated towel rack and speaker from the TV in the bathroom; button-control for "do not disturb" sign that lights up in the hall.” Aug 30, 2005 by
Frank from Scottsdale, AZ
“Located only a block and a half from the Marble Arch tube station and Hyde Park, this hotel is ideally located and easily accessible to London's shopping, theatre and historical districts. Spacious rooms, attentive staff and the usual amenities that you would expect from a Thistle hotel.” Aug 29, 2005 by
Vladimir from New York, NY
“The Thistle Marble Arch is very conveniently located and has large, very comfortable rooms, very well decorated. The food is a bit pricey - but that's probably more London than anything else. I would gladly stay at this hotel again - and I was astonished to get a place this nice for the price, ” Aug 25, 2005 by
Tim from Seattle, WA
“Very nice appearance and most of staff very nice, but beds were horrible, and staff made no effort to remedy/ rectify. ” Aug 22, 2005 by
Khoi from San Francisco, CA
“Huge hotel in the Marble Arch area. Steps away from Speaker's Corner of Hyde Park. Oxford Street is a block away with all the shops. Easy to walk to New Bond Street and even Leicester Square. ” Aug 18, 2005 by
Cindy from Kensington, MD
“Location ok if you want to go to Hyde Park....and close to Paddinton station. Room not at the level of a 4 star hotel and staff not able to deal with unexpected problems...closing of clb room because of staff illness.Lobby dark, very smoky and hotel food poor.” Aug 18, 2005 by
Luke from Memphis, TN
“Excellent location by Marble Arch tube station. Huge bathrooms, courteous staff. Inhouse bar. Internet available in rooms.” Aug 8, 2005 by
Roger from Eden Prairie, MN
“Great location, very clean and the price was the best we have received ” Aug 6, 2005 by
Bob from Morristown, NJ
“Great location, staff very helpful, excellent value for money.” Aug 5, 2005 by
A from Silver Spring, MD
“Room is nice. But I think they have a problem with cleaning. This is probably because of poor ventilation.” Aug 4, 2005 by
Emilie from Miami Beach, FL
“To me it did not seem like a 4 star hotel, more like a 3 star. It was clean, the rooms were very functional, there was central heat and air conditioning (which are both useful since London weather is not always predictable). A very good location if you like shopping, unfortunately not many restaurants and pubs in the area.” Aug 3, 2005 by
Dany from Hollywood, FL
“Good size, clean rooms, good facilities, fairly well located. Overall, a good hotel at a very good price.” Aug 2, 2005 by
Darcy from Algonquin, IL
“I would gladly stay at the Marble Arch Thistle again. It was one of my most enjoyable hotel stays ever, and I travel a lot. ” Jul 30, 2005 by
Prashant from Washington, DC
“Corridors are dim and dingy. By American standards, this hotel is more like a 3-star minus” Jul 28, 2005 by
Shane from Baton Rouge, LA
“Thistle Hotel - Marble Arch was a huge disappointment. It certainly under no circumstance fits in a 4 star category. The hotel came off as mean mongers wanting to charge for every single thing, even a phone call to the hotel operator was at 1 pound 50. It's NOT the amount of money - but it's such a strain to feel so unwelcomed that every single is so charged like that. Plus, plus, they said they had wireless internet access in the main hotel lobby. In every major hotel, this is a very complimentary service - but at Thistle Marble it was charged per minute and actually it was not even working. Last year, I went to Holiday Inn 4 star near Gloucester Rd. in South Kensington - that was really the best - quite something, very welcoming atmosphere. I did not feel like the hotel is preying on me. Never go to Thistle Marble Arch - it is really bad and is no way a 4 star hotel.” Jul 28, 2005 by
Larry from Lemon Grove, CO “Central to everything. Attentive service.” Jul 27, 2005 by
Alex from Gainesville, FL “Very nice hotel, located one block to the East of Marble Arch. Great location. Large, clean rooms. Seems to have been recently renovated.” Jul 26, 2005 by
Amy from Atlanta, GA
“This hotel was in a great area of town. It was near a busy street filled with restaurants, pubs, and shops! The room was very spacious. The bathroom was also larger than expected. The only problem was that you could hear neighbors coming and going as they closed their doors. I would recommend bringing ear plugs.” Jul 22, 2005 by
Chad from Los Angeles, CA
“Good location in central London near bustling nightlife and sights. Friendly, professional staff and clean, spacious rooms. A good experience at a very fair price.” Jul 21, 2005 by
James from Covina, CA
“This is probably more of a 3* or 3.5* hotel. However, it is conveniently situated in the shopping district of Oxford St. Staff are not very helpful.” Jul 19, 2005 by
Rhonda from Lexington, KY
“The Thistle Marble Arch Hotel is well suited for a fast paced London experience. Its location is ideal. The business class upgrade was superb. Our room was spacious, spotless, and attractive.” Jul 18, 2005 by
Susan from Hook, TX
“Had an brilliant stay, was upgraded to an executive suite; this included use of business lounge bar and complimentary breakfast. Excellent value .” Jul 18, 2005 by
Doug from Brookline, MA
“A big, impersonal, but comfortable and well-appointed hotel, well located near Hyde Park and major bus and tube routes. ” Jul 18, 2005 by
Amir from Falls Church, VA
“I paid for an upgrade and the upgraded room was wonderful.” Jul 7, 2005 by
Blake from Aurora, OH
“great hotel off the central line. large hotel, which resulted in a long queue for check out, but the room was really nice, and the in-room bar thingy, provided a nice place to entertain my guests. room service tried to charge me 2 pounds for a bucket of ice (for the champles, as you do), but i said forget it and filled up a tesco bag full of ice from the ice machines (stelthly located after room 675). overall, for the price paid this was a steal.” Jul 6, 2005 by
Cheanny from Apeldoorn, AL
“We had a room on the corner at the thirth flour. It had a great view on the Oxford Street. The room was spacious. Location is excellent for shopping and just around corner from Marble Arch tube station.” Jul 5, 2005 by
Michele from New York, NY
“Marble Arch is in a great location and the rooms are quite large and comfortable. Some refurbishment is needed, but rooms are clean.” Jun 30, 2005 by
Fahd from Buena Park, CA
“If you want to do a lot of shopping then Thistle Marble Arch is the place to be. The hotel is next to Oxford street where you can find everything and easily go back to your hotel room without having to carry lots of bags. The breakfast though is not that great. The business rooms are wonderful, I am not sure about the regular rooms but from what I have heard the hotel has undertaken a full scale renovation. Overall great place and highly recommended and has a very reasonable price compared to other London hotels. Great for families!” Jun 29, 2005 by
Bill from Reston, VA
“overall a very pleasant stay. didn't try the restaurant or bar. excellant location.” Jun 24, 2005 by
Brian from New Canaan, CT
“A tourist hotel with high volume traffic. Room was an upgrade for $30 per night and was clean and big. Reception staff were indifferent and slow but all other staff (dining room and porters) were great. I would stay there again.” Jun 22, 2005 by
Edward from Bowie, MD
“Is undergoing a $60 million renovation- terrific restaurant on premisis as well as the Glen Miller Lounge. Concereige arranged for a private car to take us from hotel lobby right to the drop-off for our flight from Heathrow for a total of 40 pounds for me and my wife. Clean, quiet rooms! Lots of space for luggage/clothes ( we stayed 4 nights). Definitely a 4 star hotel.” Jun 21, 2005 by
Bryan from Gate City, VA
“Good quality, Good location, be sure to get the bed size you want, the small ones are REALLY small. The bar stays open late but is expensive. Overall, a hotel worth going to.” Jun 18, 2005 by
Rasmus from Miami, FL
“This is the worst 4-star hotel I have ever stayed at in London. The check-in staff was rude and spoke poor English and spoke some foreign language amongst themselves in front of the guests. The room service was terrible and the room itself only has ONE redeeming quality and that was its size. The hotel itself was old and worn. The phones in the room looked like they were 20 years old. Not a single staff member spoke English without an accent.” Jun 18, 2005 by
Robert from Austin, TX
“First room they gave us was loud and by the elevator. Second room was much better but no way this should be rated as a 4 star hotel.” Jun 14, 2005 by
Eduard. from Arlington, VA
“The hotel is in an excellent location, right around the corner of the MArble Arch Tubestation and just off Oxford Street. The room seemed to be recently redone in the traditional English style;Although the beds could do with an upgrade. Housekeeping did keep the room immaculate. Coffee and tea maker and a safe were provided in the room. Security seemed to be missing as the hotel lobby was on the second floor with eay access to all hotel elevators and nobody challenged you when entering the hotel (but this seems more commen for big hotels these days). The hotel staff did not much to make us feel welcome, check-in was rather slow and the front desk agent was quite rude and snippy. A problem with the phone in the room was dealt with in a very unprofessionally manner. But all in all, for the price paid, this was still a steal, considered hotel prices in London, especially for 4-star hotels.” Jun 11, 2005 by
Robert from St. Louis, MO
“We had a very pleasant stay at the Thistle Marble Arch. Check in was quick, all the staff was friendly including concierge desk, gift shop, food and bar, and reservations. The hotel was located in the bustling Oxford Street shopping area with a short block away from the London Underground - Marble Arch station (Central Line). The room was comfortable, very clean, quiet, and gave us a good night's rest which we really needed to give us the time and energy for all of our London sightseeing!” Jun 10, 2005 by
M from Alameda, CA
“We had an excellent experience. The room was in great shape and the bathroom was excellent. All in all a great experience.” Jun 7, 2005 by
Angelo from Dallas, TX
“It's a very big hotel located in a good position. Although the busy Oxford Street is just on the corner, the place is silent.” Jun 3, 2005 by
John from Saratoga Springs, NY
“This hotel was very nice even in an American sense (it had 110 appliances). Located two blocks from Marble Arch and Hyde Park. An excellent choice for anyone looking for a great London location and comfort.” Jun 2, 2005 by
Natalie from Milford, CT “Overall, it was very nice. All extras were very pricey. Breakfast was grossly overpriced for what we had to choose from (we did the cold buffet). At 7.50 (in pounds), for bad coffee, croissants and fruit per person, not good. We purchased phone cards to call home and were presented with a bill for 52 pounds upon departure. Even after calling the operator to ask about phone charges, which we were told were free unless connected by her, we were charged 1.50 (pounds per call). Whether they went through or not. About the room. Very comfortable. Bathrooms were lovely. Beds comfortable. Room had a pants press and iron in the closet. Bellmen were very timely.” Jun 2, 2005 by
Amy from Apo, NY
“The location is wonderful less than a 5 min walk from the central line of the Tube and two major tourist bus companies. The air conditioned room was a great option to have in a city that does not really believe in it. Unfortunately, the breakfast was not included and we had to pay extra, but it was worth the money. All in all a pleasant experience.” May 31, 2005 by
Mohamad A. from Nashville, TN
“it is not a 4star hotel may be 1 star things i did not like1- they do not chang the sheets daily 2-no good service.3-the phone did not work i had to call them 3 times to fix it4-the iron does not work. ” May 31, 2005 by
Andy from San Francisco, CA
“The Thistle Marble Arch is a beautiful old hotel in desperate need of a new management team. Long lines at check in ultimately lead to a key to the wrong room! The elevators and escalators were broken, a conceierge and manager were nowhere to be found, and the staff, although friendly, were few and far between.” May 26, 2005 by
Nasir from Allen, TX
“perfect central london location. Close to all major attractions. There was construction in the hotel which caused a little discomfort. The room was very small for a four star hotel.” May 19, 2005 by
Robert from Ellensburg, WA
“On the off chance that you are a hermit stuck in London, the Thistle Marble Arch Hotel can provide a world unto itself. Sleep, eat, relax, wander, and never leave the place, which would of course be dumb, but could be done quite comfortably. We got the room for 50 P a night, which was great, but I'd never pay the going rate for the place.” Mar 28, 2005 by
Susan from Boothwyn, PA
“Upgraded our room at no extra charge when we came with our 11 year old son. Coffee in room and refridge. a plus” Mar 28, 2005 by
Carolyn from Golden, CO
“The hotel is beautiful and conveniently located. The staff was friendly. Check-in was prompt. The rooms were good sized (for London). The only problem is that the hotel claimed that one of our two rooms used $200 worth of Internet (and charged us for this amount), even though Heather Daughters (who had that room) did not have a computer and never used the Internet. We're currently trying to work out this problem with the hotel. (The sheet Heather was presented with at checkout did not list any charges. She only found out about the hotel's Internet claim when she checked her credit card statement.)” Mar 18, 2005 by
Ulrike from New York, NY
“Very well located but very touristy with inadequate elevator services ( very long wait).” Hotel Representatives:
