• For European standards, Thistle Marble Arch hotel is very well. The stuff could use more training to better help their guest.
• The concierge staff could have been more knowledgeable and helpful.

• Conveniently located, quite clean.
• Never received a wash cloth with daily linens. Vinyl liner in shower needed to be changed.

“This hotel is overall very nice and very well located. However, for our purposes it was just wonderful. I noticed on our second leg that we didn't receive the shampoo and lotion samples, don't know if this was just a coincidence. Still, overall very positive experience.”

“This hotel is in an excellent location. The rooms are very pleasant and have small refrigerators (which was an unexpected joy). Housekeeping staff was very accommodating. All in all a very good experience. ”

• Centrally located in almost any manner possible for someone planning on visiting London.
• The atmosphere was stale and boring.

“The hotel is centrally located and walking distance from Hyde Park corner and Oxford Street. For anyone visiting London and just looking for a place to lay his head you just couldn't find a better deal. However, if you intend to socialize within the hotel compound it is quite stale and boring.”

• Very convenient location. Close to shopping, good restaurants and easy access to public transportation.
• Antiquated plumbing, separate hot and cold faucets. Hallway lighting could be brighter.

“Quite a bargain for $75.00 a night. Clean rooms with ample space including wet bar and sitting area, fairly large en suite marble tile bathroom with granite counter top, hairdryer and telephone. Housekeeping and concierge staff very helpful.”

• Conveniently located, only less than 5 minutes from the tube station. Excellent value for the price. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
• Long stairs to the main lobby. Needs to depend on porters to carry your luggage since there's only escalator going up, not down. Tipping is needed.

“Generally speaking, the hotel is clean and conveniently located by Tube. Friendly staff and you can purchase tickets at the hotel to bypass waiting line at entrances at major attractions. Close to lots of shopping on Oxford street. I don't think it is fully a 4 star hotel because some of the facilities are getting old. But it's very good for a 3 plus star and for the price I paid.”

• Hotel room a VERY long walk from the elevators. Two beds, not one. Musty smell.

“I enjoyed the location directly across from Hyde park and convenient to the Marble Arch tube station. The entrance to the hotel is on a back street, a little scary at night. Our hotel room was a VERY long walk from the elevator and came with two beds not one. Certainly something I could have changed, but just odd and annoying. ”

• The location, cleanliness and courtesy of the staff where excellent!.
• This hotel was perfect!.

“The hotel is in a great location. The staff is friendly and helpful and the hotel is beautiful. I would recommend it to any one who wants a central location to visit London. The only drawback is that the restaurant is over priced but there are cheaper places to eat all over. This hotel is worth every penny and I will definitely stay here again.”

• Staff less friendly, lobby on 1st floor with no elevator access was a pain.

“A good value in a good location, but the hotel staff is not very friendly. Luggage, which was supposed to be brought in "15 minutes" arrived 6 hours later. If you have several pieces of luggage, it is difficult to bring it to your room yourself, as the lobby/check-in area is on the 1st floor (not the ground floor) and you can only access it by a narrow escalator. So you are forced to relinquish it. It is literally not in your control anymore. Very unsettling.”

• Sometimes there were funny smells in the hallways.

“It is about 1.5 blocks from the Marble Arch tube stop on the Central line, very close to shopping and many eateries as well as Easy Internet. Cheap internet access point 2 GBP for an hour all on Oxford Street. We were upgraded to Executive Plus and had a very comfortable room with a small sitting area including a loveseat. The bathroom was also oversized and featured a speaker so that you could hear the TV while getting ready. I really liked the extra space, the soft comforters, and the loveseat. Our view wasn't so great as it was a courtyard overlooking the roof. However, we didn't spend much time in the room except in the evenings so it didn't matter. It is also pretty quiet. I hardly noticed that there were other people in adjacent rooms. The hotel has an ATM by reception, a bar, a buffet restaurant and a cafe which also has sandwiches and salads. The cab price to the airport is about 45 GBP. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.”

• Hotel was in a great location and the service was excellent. Our room was very clean and large. A great value.
• The concierge service was fair. Very hard to understand and not very helpful with information concerning dinning.

“Great location. Hotel was older but very well kept and remodeled. Halls, common areas and room were very clean. Maid service was excellent. Our room was serviced quickly every day. Bar and restaurant service were great and food was good. Bellhop service was very helpful when I had trouble getting a cab. The only downfall of this hotel is the concierge service which I thought was not very well trained and they were very hard to understand.”

• The hotel was close to the subway.
• I did not like the location of the hotel in this area of London.

“Our rooms were at the far end of a corridor and it took more than 5 minutes to walk to the room to the elevator, which was very annoying. The halls are dark and the carpeting and furnishings are old. The price we got for this hotel made it worth it, but it is definitely not a 4 star hotel.”

“The location in Central London couldn't have been better or nearer to the key shopping district of Oxford Street - the hotel is in a building that includes some Oxford Street shops at ground level, with the hotel entrance situated in the parallel street behind. In other words, some of the hotel bedrooms actually look directly down onto Oxford Street. Major stores like Selfridges are literally paces from the hotel, and I was able to reach any part of London I wanted easily as bus stops and two tube stations (Marble Arch and Bond Street) were both very near the hotel. Oh and for good measure the room was spotless, the bed comfortable and the hot breakfast buffet excellent (this was included in the 20 pounds room upgrade option I paid for at checkin when I saw the posters advertising this option).”

• The location could not be better, the room we were given was a double executive suite which was top notch. We loved this hotel.
• We requested a wake up call which we never received.

• Recption and elevators not on ground floor, making it difficult to move luggage.

“Located only a block and a half from the Marble Arch tube station and Hyde Park, this hotel is ideally located and easily accessible to London's shopping, theatre and historical districts. Spacious rooms, attentive staff and the usual amenities that you would expect from a Thistle hotel.”

• Maids are pushy in trying to clean room in the morning.

• Very friendly staff and helpful concierge, and they let us check in much earlier than expected (very helpful)

“To me it did not seem like a 4 star hotel, more like a 3 star. It was clean, the rooms were very functional, there was central heat and air conditioning (which are both useful since London weather is not always predictable). A very good location if you like shopping, unfortunately not many restaurants and pubs in the area.”

• The hotel was very conveniently located near Oxford Street - so great location
• The hotel atmosphere appeared unwelcoming - they appeared like mean misers - every single thing was charged - even a phone call to the operator

“Thistle Hotel - Marble Arch was a huge disappointment. It certainly under no circumstance fits in a 4 star category. The hotel came off as mean mongers wanting to charge for every single thing, even a phone call to the hotel operator was at 1 pound 50. It's NOT the amount of money - but it's such a strain to feel so unwelcomed that every single is so charged like that. Plus, plus, they said they had wireless internet access in the main hotel lobby. In every major hotel, this is a very complimentary service - but at Thistle Marble it was charged per minute and actually it was not even working. Last year, I went to Holiday Inn 4 star near Gloucester Rd. in South Kensington - that was really the best - quite something, very welcoming atmosphere. I did not feel like the hotel is preying on me. Never go to Thistle Marble Arch - it is really bad and is no way a 4 star hotel.”

• The hotel went beyond my expectations. It is a step above most European Hotels. The room and bathroom were huge!
• The night concierge needed some major help. He was not friendly nor helpful.

“This hotel was in a great area of town. It was near a busy street filled with restaurants, pubs, and shops! The room was very spacious. The bathroom was also larger than expected. The only problem was that you could hear neighbors coming and going as they closed their doors. I would recommend bringing ear plugs.”

• two pounds for a bucket of ice is stupid. free ice for everyone!

“great hotel off the central line. large hotel, which resulted in a long queue for check out, but the room was really nice, and the in-room bar thingy, provided a nice place to entertain my guests. room service tried to charge me 2 pounds for a bucket of ice (for the champles, as you do), but i said forget it and filled up a tesco bag full of ice from the ice machines (stelthly located after room 675). overall, for the price paid this was a steal.”

• I love the location and the upgrade that I got
• The breakfast is not that great, even for the one in the business lounge.

“If you want to do a lot of shopping then Thistle Marble Arch is the place to be. The hotel is next to Oxford street where you can find everything and easily go back to your hotel room without having to carry lots of bags. The breakfast though is not that great. The business rooms are wonderful, I am not sure about the regular rooms but from what I have heard the hotel has undertaken a full scale renovation. Overall great place and highly recommended and has a very reasonable price compared to other London hotels. Great for families!”
