• I like that they offer high speed internet connection in every room.
• Internet connection is very expensive (around $27 a day).

• Good location for shipping and mass transit.
• Elevators too far away from rooms.

“This hotel is a block from the Marble Arch tube station on Oxford Street. The hotel was very busy with long lines at check-in and checkout. The room was clean, well appointed and modern. We skipped the overpriced breakfast. There may be street noise from some rooms. There is only one bank of elevators per floor and it is a very long walk from some rooms to the elevator. If you don't want to wait, you must be prepared to use the stairs.”

• Location was very good - right near oxford street.
• Room was in a bad part of the hotel, noisy, and no double beds.

“We did not get preferential treatment. The rooms they gave us had two twin beds (we wanted one double/queen/or king bed) and it was very far away from the hotel entrance. The room was also very small.”

• Very convenient location.
• Noisy with doors slamming; not very disabled friendly.

“A very nice hotel, incredibly convenient to shopping and transportation, but it was hard to get some basic questions answered, like how much is the Internet, is there a charge to use the hotel ATM. I did not have a good night's sleep in the six nights I stayed there because of the constant door-slamming in the hallway. I wrote two e-mails to the hotel before I left to have some issues about my disability addressed, and never received an answer. Though there are lifts available to every other part of the hotel. I found the concierge and gift shop are accessible only by stairs or an escalator; there is no way anyone in a wheelchair could visit, and since I have an artifical leg, this was extremely difficult to deal with and definitely put a cloud over my stay. I would not stay at this hotel again, but I would recommend it with caution to other able bodied travelers who aren't light sleepers.”

• Clean, located just of Oxford St. Friendly staff, quite, nicely appointed.
• Smoking in lobby but, you are in London not USA.

“After getting off a 6 AM flight from WDC and tube ride into Marble Arch station, my 13 year old daughter and I were greeted with smiling faces and understanding. Given our room as check in is 2 PM. Efficient, considerate, clean, new, twin just big enough for us and in a safe and central location. It was great value for the money. The front desk took the charge off without question. I will be blessed to get this hotel again.”

• Service and the concierge desk, which was most helpful.
• Room was small, but not really a problem since I was alone.

“I was very impressed with the quality of the service. Although my room was small, it was well appointed and clean. They provide coffee, tea and hot choc. It was close to Oxford st and James St (lots of restaurants). It was a wonderful restaurant (caldesis) on Marylebone Lane. It was some of the best Italian I have ever had, although they do allow smoking-a big negative.”

• Location of the hotel is very good, close to Oxford Street major shopping area.
• Noise from air condition vents in the inner courtyard was quite loud.

“The hotel is somewhat old and exhibits a certain British style. Rooms have been renovated, bathrooms certainly need another renovation. The rooms are quite large, beds are o.k. The hotel is average standard.”

• They don't have a shuttle service from Paddington Station.

“Hotel Thistle Marble Arch is well located and a typical business hotel. It worked well for us, although my parents had a room that wasn't renovated. Our room was much nicer, but only on the 2nd floor.”

• Bed was poor, hard and worn.

“We enjoyed our stay at the Thistle In Marble Arch. The hotel facilities were very nice and the staff was pleasant. The hotel has an excellent location, 1/2 block from the closest Tube station; from Oxford Street and Hyde Park. Bed was the only poor aspect to the stay, which improved by placing the comforter under the lower sheet for added padding.”

• Large room, large bed, many amenities (towel warmer), etc.
• Try to convince you to buy room "upgrade".

“Convenient location in center of city, near tube station and Hyde Park. Very nice room and large bed, although extremely firm. Bathroom was just a bit worn although large and lots of extras (towel warmer, TV speaker in ceiling so you miss nothing or can listen to TV radio while in shower). Downsides: center of city is VERY busy, although hotel is on a side street, staff indicated that room reserved was a twin and acted like they were doing a big favor to change to a queen, implied I had to pay upgrade for this which was not true.”

“A good hotel in a good location. The front desk staff was a bit overwhelmed but competent. The design and function of the shower left something to be desired, the elevators were a bit wonky and the room did not mute against outside or hallway noises well. But a modern room, comfortable bed, great pillows and good cleaning staff go a long way towards a very positive experience.”

• Left mistakenly a few items in the room which were nicely saved for me.
• The internet didn't work because the mode needs replacement. It cost 1.5 Pounds for a service cal +15 per day.

“It is a nice hotel in every possible angel. The only thing elevator from floor 1, entry from floor 0 at least 10 meter below. They need to set moving stars to go down not just the ones that go up.”

• Great Location, Close to the Marble Arch tube, near to wonderful shopping.
• Rear entrance odd, lower floors are retail businesses.

“This hotel is a hit. The 20 GBP upgrade per night nets you breakfast for two, bottled water, queen suite, quieter floor - well worth it. ”

• This hotel met and exceeded many of my expectations. I highly recommend it.
• The only complaint that I had was that it took a while for my requested towels to be delivered to my room.

“The location was superb, as it was in the middle of the shopping district. Many of the London sites were within a short commute of the hotel as well. An additional brownie point was that the Marble Arch underground station was 3 minute walk from the hotel. That allowed for trouble free transportation to anywhere in London.”

“First time visitors in this very busy city. Not used to the hustle and bustle. Would advise others to upgrade to get the breakfast included in the room rat. I think it also comes with a bit of a room upgrade also. London is very expensive.”

“Terrific comforters on the bed make it very comfortable hotel. Upgrade offer was a great deal, not a rip-off. Great staff allowed us to check in quite early for some red-eye reducing rest.”

“This hotel is in a convenient location. The rooms are large which is unusual for London. The hallways are dark and depressing. The beds must date back to the American Revolution since they are spongy, and non supportive. My back is still killing me, I don't recommend this hotel.”

“This was the perfect hotel for a quick trip to London. The room was good sized and well furnished, with a mini fridge, and a nicely tiled bathroom deep tub too. It is convenient to Oxford Street, but my room was very quiet.”

• Location, in-room shampoo and soap, Mohammed in the restaurant at breakfast.
• I left a scarf in the restaurant and 3 different staff were indifferent about looking for it. When I got home I called and someone finally located it.

“The location and cleanliness of the rooms are the chief assets. The staff is friendly but too frequently unhelpful - good at smiling and using my name but not at solving a problem or request. There's also no way to get to the lobby with heavy luggage unless a porter is called because there is a long staircase (going up there is an escalator). One other comment about this survey. ”

• The location was the only plus.
• A generally surly and inexperienced staff overall.

“From the moment I checked in and was talked into an upgrade that offered nothing more than a newspaper I was displeased. Despite giving a credit card upon arrival I was not able to charge meals to my room, etc. nor was I able to take advantage of the express check out. The staff is surely best disorganized and the property itself offers large but tired rooms with hard mattresses which look out over noisy (day and night) Oxford Street.”

• Repeated issue with keycard having wrong code to open door. Hotel was quick to fix.

“Great location for seeing the sites of Central London! Clean, comfortable, big rooms, nicely decorated. We were booked in a twin room, with a separate seating area with chair and loveseat, (almost a junior suite, really). Staff was friendly and helpful. Large hotel with lots of rooms, great because we were able to check in at 9:00 AM. A bit more water pressure in the shower would be nice and the speaking elevators are a bit annoying and quirky.”

• Getting in and out of the hotel is a bit cumbersome with the long stairway.

“They put me in room 701. It was a huge corner room with 2 single beds next to each other, a couch, table and a couple of chairs. Large bathroom as well. A couple of blocks from SOHO. Plenty of open wifi gateways visible as well.”

• Maid stole my slippers, no coffee/tea refills 2 days out of 4, fridge not working, charged extra for having a 3 & 5 year old.

“The hotel is conveniently located on the Marble Arch corner of Hyde Park, near all major tourism attractions. However, hotel staff was not appreciative of our having 2 small children and made quite a fuss. Maids spoke no English and did not refill our hot drinks service and stole my slippers. The front desk was not accommodating of forgotten toothbrushes, working fridges etc.”

• Housekeeping was exceptionally good, sound insulation was terrific. Beds and pillows perfect.
• We liked everything.

“Thistle Marble Arch met our needs perfectly. The room was gargantuan compared to most we've stayed in, beautifully clean, nice lighting, pretty decor and was kept extremely tidy by the maid service. All the potentially annoying things were missing, such as uncomfortable beds, lumpy or too thin pillows. We loved it.”

“Good location. Nice size rooms by European standards. Convenient to 2 tube stops within less than 10 minute walking distance. Good location to shops, Starbucks and restaurants. St. James place has great restaurants just 5 minute walk. Elevators were slow and packed at peak times.”

• For European standards, Thistle Marble Arch hotel is very well. The stuff could use more training to better help their guest.
• The concierge staff could have been more knowledgeable and helpful.

• Never received a wash cloth with daily linens. Vinyl liner in shower needed to be changed.

“This hotel is overall very nice and very well located. However, for our purposes it was just wonderful. I noticed on our second leg that we didn't receive the shampoo and lotion samples, don't know if this was just a coincidence. Still, overall very positive experience.”

• Centrally located in almost any manner possible for someone planning on visiting London.
• The atmosphere was stale and boring.

“The hotel is centrally located and walking distance from Hyde Park corner and Oxford Street. For anyone visiting London and just looking for a place to lay his head you just couldn't find a better deal. However, if you intend to socialize within the hotel compound it is quite stale and boring.”

• Very convenient location. Close to shopping, good restaurants and easy access to public transportation.
• Antiquated plumbing, separate hot and cold faucets. Hallway lighting could be brighter.

“Quite a bargain for $75.00 a night. Clean rooms with ample space including wet bar and sitting area, fairly large en suite marble tile bathroom with granite counter top, hairdryer and telephone. Housekeeping and concierge staff very helpful.”

• Conveniently located, only less than 5 minutes from the tube station. Excellent value for the price. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
• Long stairs to the main lobby. Needs to depend on porters to carry your luggage since there's only escalator going up, not down. Tipping is needed.

“Generally speaking, the hotel is clean and conveniently located by Tube. Friendly staff and you can purchase tickets at the hotel to bypass waiting line at entrances at major attractions. Close to lots of shopping on Oxford street. I don't think it is fully a 4 star hotel because some of the facilities are getting old. But it's very good for a 3 plus star and for the price I paid.”

• Hotel room a VERY long walk from the elevators. Two beds, not one. Musty smell.

“I enjoyed the location directly across from Hyde park and convenient to the Marble Arch tube station. The entrance to the hotel is on a back street, a little scary at night. Our hotel room was a VERY long walk from the elevator and came with two beds not one. Certainly something I could have changed, but just odd and annoying. ”

• The location, cleanliness and courtesy of the staff where excellent!.
• This hotel was perfect!.

“The hotel is in a great location. The staff is friendly and helpful and the hotel is beautiful. I would recommend it to any one who wants a central location to visit London. The only drawback is that the restaurant is over priced but there are cheaper places to eat all over. This hotel is worth every penny and I will definitely stay here again.”

• Staff less friendly, lobby on 1st floor with no elevator access was a pain.

“A good value in a good location, but the hotel staff is not very friendly. Luggage, which was supposed to be brought in "15 minutes" arrived 6 hours later. If you have several pieces of luggage, it is difficult to bring it to your room yourself, as the lobby/check-in area is on the 1st floor (not the ground floor) and you can only access it by a narrow escalator. So you are forced to relinquish it. It is literally not in your control anymore. Very unsettling.”
