“There are tile and marble floors everywhere that are not kept free the water that is tracked around from the daily rain showers. My ankle was dislocated and I required surgery for several shattered bones. We had a great deal of trouble trying to make arrangements to fly home and the hotel staff was very unhelpful and rude. It was very frightening trying to get out of a foreign country with a severe medical situation.” Aug 10, 2008 by

“One of the three restaurants, La Piazza, was so awful, that many people complained. The pizza there was the worst one could possibly imagine it to be. Their red wine came straight from the refrigerator, and it was as sour as vinegar. The service was bad; the serving people were not particularly friendly. The buffet at La Posada restaurant obviously has a list of problems with their food preparation, and certainly, the restaurant management. We complained about that after one of us got food poisoning, and had to take antibiotics to treat bacterial gastrointestinal infection. We made a number of suggestions (and some of the things were corrected), but it seemed there was always something unacceptable to observe there. For instance, my son had several short black hairs in his tomato salad. There were flies sitting on prepared food, salads were not kept cold enough (and actually were re-used the next day in a different form such as tacos or made omelets with, if they were not eaten on the previous day), yogurts were just warm and not cold, serving spoons were missing sometimes, and people would either use the same serving spoon for several foods, or just use their hands. We saw that many times. But, the people who served in the La Posada were friendly and helpful. They just seemed not to be trained well, but did try their best. Even though we used bottled water there all the time, the tap water in the hotel was so smelly, it was impossible to brush your teeth with it. Another thing is that they used plastic glasses to serve drinks (both alcoholic and nonalcoholic ones), and they re-used these glasses which never looked clean.” Aug 5, 2008 by

“Aug 2, 2008This was my 3rd trip to Mexico and I have always are a lot of fun. From the moment we arrived at the Occidental we had to wait several hours for a room. I was in a group of 7 and had three rooms. The hotel stated we would have our rooms on the same floor. As it turned out we had rooms on different floors. In one room the A/C was not working correctly and in the second room the phone did not work. We had to walk to the lobby to place an order. All the activities were very far in walking distance, it was an inconvenience for our group. Another problem was it recently rained and was infested with mosquitoes I would not stay in this hotel again.” Jul 12, 2007 by

“Just returned after two weeks (22.6. to 7.7.2007) at the O.G.C. we have had a lovely time, swimming snorkeling. Trips and so forth, there were six in our party. The room that my husband and I had, was a bit smelly maybe what it had been sprayed with we don't know? and we didn't think that the air conditioning was quite adequate (could have been colder) but no complaints from the others, food was good , everything was clean , our biggest beef was that why have a coffee maker in your room when they never leave any damn coffee to put in it very inconsistent. Over all it was good and yes I would most certainly go back and maybe by that time the English will be mentioned by the entertainment staff, not just U.S.A, Canada.” Aug 25, 2005 by

“My daughter, grandson, and I planned our trip to Cozumel. After buying our all-inclusive package which included Occidental Grand Cozumel for (4) nights. We read the reviews after paying for our package. They were not very positive. We thought, "Oh my! what have we done?" We are so very happy now we did not change our plans! We were directed to our room within minutes, and it was absolutely what we had hoped-roomy, sunny, and clean. The service was excellent at both the room and all food-service areas. The gift shop staff are so friendly and helpful. There was an overabundance of delicious foods served everyday, and the service staff became our friends. You must see this resort for yourself next trip to Cozumel.” 8 of 8 people found this review helpful.Jun 11, 2005 by
