• Very helpful staff, beautiful gardens, excellent restaurant, lively bar, nice rooms.
• Not in the heart of downtown, but to me that's actually a plus.

“Charming hotel with a lot of character. Not a cookie-cutter downtown high rise, but a very attractive garden hotel in a classy residential neighborhood and right on Hagley Park. The rooms are quite nice and the entire hotel - buildings and gardens are very well kept. The staff is exceptionally helpful and accommodating, even by New Zealand standards. The restaurant has excellent food in a very attractive, pleasant and unpretentious setting. Both restaurant and bar were surprisingly lively and busy for being in a hotel. No need to leave the premises for a fine meal and a nice place for a drink. Location is not near downtown, restaurant or convention facilities, though transportation is easy. A disadvantage for some, but a benefit for others who prefer Hagley Park to downtown. ”
