• Location within the city and safe parking
• Decor was a little tired. Unprofessional staff, epecially in the bar.

“Very well located hotel in the centre of the city with inclusive safe parking. Although looking a little tired, the hotel was clean, the rooms well presented and showed good value for money.”

• Location good, bar staff very friendly and helpful, really enjoyed our 'Bliss' Spa experience.
• Breakfast staff were not very welcoming.

“Overall we were pleased we chose this hotel. It was in a good location next to the river and had good access to restuarants bars etc.

We enjoyed the use of the fitness club facilities and we both had a massage in the spa which we would recommend.

The room was nice but fairly average. We have stayed in similar quality rooms for a much lower cost.”

• Clean, bright room in good decorative order. V. comfortable good sized bed.
• extractor fan in bathroom did not work. bit of grout missing in tiled floor by door.

“On arriving we could hear the cleaners talking in the room next door. Fortunately that room was empty on the night we stayed. Had it been occupied I think we might have been embarassed. Generally a v.pleasant stay made all the more so by cheerful helpful staff.”

• Clean, comfortable and quiet.
• One lift not working, no hairdrier, no concierge, no help with bags.

“It's a nice hotel, but not luxury by any stretch of the imagination. The room was comforable and quiet, with duvets rather than blankets, but there was no hairdrier in the room. Also, one lift was on the blink for the entire duration of the visit, and the other one had a flickering flourescent tube. Also, for a four star, there was a concierge desk but no concierge and no one offered help with the bags. You do expect a bit more for over '100 a night.”

• Comfortable beds. Quiet non smoking room.
• Inadequate lighting in room. Also one lightbulb missing.

“A very comfortable stay with helpful and polite staff. The lighting in the room was too dim, but the accommodation good and very clean.We would certainly stay at this hotel again.”

• Excellent Crowne Room - Very clean, quiet,large and had a cosy feel. Amazing river view with balcony.

“This hotel is in a fantastic location on the river and in the centre of town. Traditional Pubs are located within a 1 minute walk. Main shops within a 4 minute walk. Hotel staff were polite and helpful. Only one small criticism was that the Room Maid was a little unpredictable with the replacement of some items e.g. toilet rolls, shower Gel, flannels etc..and the bed was not the best. However the room was kept very clean and so was the rest of the hotel. The Crowne bedrooms were worth the extra money. Ours was large, very clean and quiet. It had a great river view with a balcony and table and chairs, which would be great for the summer. Bathrobes, Slippers, Magazines, Morning Paper and extra snacks a bonus. Temperature of room perfect - easily controlled. Great car parking - flexible and free! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back to this hotel.”

• The decor was looking rather tired, Had signs of leaking roof, ceiling looked Iffy.

“The staff didn't make any effort to be nice and infact in some cases quite rude. The bar was quiet and the barman did not seem busy yet there were tables left with plates and glasses on them for a long time. Then when we went through to dinner where we had booked a table at reception on check in we were told quite abruptly there were no tables and to come back in 30 mins, which we did only to be told again quite abruptly there were no tables even though i could see tables that just needed resetting. i was very disapointed that there was absolutely no effort made to accomodate us. So we decided just to have a bar meal I ordered a BLT Baguette and it came without the tomato. At breakfast we were not offered any tea, coffee or toast and eventually had to ask and then when it did come the tea was stewed. I would not normally complain but as this was a special occasion my self and my partner were extremely dissapointed with the whole experiance.”

• Beautiful situation facing the river. Large comfortable bedroom.
• No adverse comments

“Chose this hotel because it was central to Cambridge and it did not disappoint. Clearer instructions on how to reach the hotel would have been helpful especially as certain roads are not open at certain times.”

• Clean non smoking room. Nice view. Very quiet and peaceful.
• Smelt slightly of damp I think due to the extractor fan I think not working in bathroom.

“Very impressed with the hotels facilities and location. The staff were very helpful, well turned out and very motivated. Breakfast was very nice however a cold buffet style breakfast would of been nice. But in the hotels defence I did not ask for a cold buffet selection.”

• Room and location both excellent.
• Had to sit around for a long while before being allowed to check in.

“Overall an excellent experience. Only downside apart from check-in irritation was the general feeling of being amongst trainees - lots of very young employees with nobody obviously in charge.”

“Accurate, more helpful directions to hotel, on website.

Car-park arrangements; arriving and leaving.

• Very large damp patch over large area of wall adjoining bathroom

“A pre ordered vegetarian meal was served for my 2 daughters and their husbands. Firstly the incorrect meal was served to them, and secondly the rice was totally undercooked. (Mushroom risotto). The room was very disappointing as per the comments above.”

“One of the best locations in terms of most colleges. Good facilities at a relatively reasonable rate provided booking is made in time to benefit from a discounted offers. Staff were courteous and efficient”

• there was a constant noise, not enough to keep me awake but was aware of it

“It was my birthday and you left a card in my room which was very nice, you had taken the time to read my e-mail with any requests. Would like to have know earliest check-in time, although as soon as we arrived in the afternoon our room was ready.”

• The view of the river, the balcony and the spacious room. The beds were very comfortable too.

• We stayed in a lovely room overlooking the river.

“It was a lovely city and the hotel was conveniently located within walking distance of the sights. The staff were friendly and the room was everything we wanted. Only wish we could have stayed longer.”

• Location was excellent, restaurant(beakfast)good, room size was good as were facilities.
• Only one, cheap uncomfortable toilet seat for this class of hotel, this is a serious comment.

“A well located hotel to explore Cambridge as well as other areas if required.
The directions given were OK however, an explanation as to the semi-hidden nature of the lolcation would have been helpful.”

• Quiet rooms. Excellent location for walking around
• Breakfast menu very static needs varying each day.

“More information in room about Cambridge eg. free walking map would be helpful. Your own restaurant in the hotel is excellent and could be promoted more to guests. We ate in on one evening and had an excellent meal and superb Australian wine. The location of the hotel is quite outstanding for exploring Cambridge. There is no traffic noise. We were awoken on our first morning by ducks quacking in the garden outside!!”

• The room was good. The bar menu is limited, but does give a varried choice.

“Access by car is tricky and needs reseach, before you approach Cambridge. Other than that the bar area is pleasent and spacious.”

• The gym and pool are excellent. The location in the town centre is ideal.

“The hotel is of a very high standard with comfortable rooms and extensive facilities. The restaurant serves high quality food although the prices are slightly high. The location on the river is excellent and it is a short walk to the centre of Cambridge for sightseeing, restaurants, theatre, etc.”

• excllent breakfast, friendly staff, perfect view from room

“This stay was very good value for money. The hotel was lovely - and we had a beautiful room. The staff made every effort to make sure we felt welcome on our stay - even sent a card to my partner for his birthday! The breakfast was a very good standard and the atmosphere they created in the restaurant was exactly what i was hoping for. All in all the stay was completely perfect and everything I was looking for. Thank you!”

• breakfast only thing that really disappointed - food and service

“the hotel in general delivered what we expected - sort of low on frills but perfectly pleasant. think you have a bit of a captive audience as cambridge is low on quality hotels.

breakfast was really not up to standard though - not an enjoyable experience - appreciate hotel was full and tried to manage expectations to eat before 9 to avoid rush - not realistic on a bank holiday... could you have dealt with big groups differently...”

• romm became very stuffy in the evening. wasps outside3 the window

“A very positive experience, the hotel was well situated for visiting the main tourist sights in Cambridge, eg a short walk to Kings Chapel.
The room was small by the standard of rooms in less central locations but was very comfortable, the beds were among the most comfortable I've had in a hotel.

All round, very good value for money, as we had a web deal well under rack rate!”
