“It was dreadful place to stay. Staff was rude and inflexible. I wanted to change a one night booking; one member of staff told me it was alright - then they were overruled. We will never return again. Room was dirty. Bar was noisy (party were in).”

• Excellent location. Bathroom very clean and user friendly.
• Decor very dark - furnishings of a poor quality - beds too soft

“Perfectly acceptable for a one night stay. To stay any longer you would probably be staying for conference purposes. OK for business use.”

• Very Clean and tidy and very pleased to see you offer 'smoking and non smoking' rooms

“The accommodation was excellent, staff very helpful and polite and setting was beautiful and easy to find. Seem to have problems with key card, we had to have three! Also thought the price of Breakfast a little excessive, together with the restaurant. Bar”

• Gorgeous, tranquil location, friendly staff & great facilities.
• Lack of Public Transport in the area. They used to have a courtesy bus into town but this is no longer operational and buses are quite irregular especially on Sundays & Bank Holidays.

“Quite far out of town but is great for a peaceful, relaxing holiday. Perfect if you have your own transport as buses only run every hour & less on Sundays & Bank Holidays. Beautiful surroundings. Staff were friendly & very helpful. Room service was slight”

• The relaxing environment

“On a positive note, the hotel was clean at all times, and generally the staff were very helpful. The environment was very relaxing.

However, I have several issues that I will be writing directly to the manager of the hotel about.
1. Arrived for booking in at 2pm and the room was not ready. I was unable to put food on my bill directly because of this, it caused confussion and delay. I had a meeting at 3pm and was subsiquently late.

Breakfast was appauling.”

• excellent spa facilities and staff were friendly and helpful.
• Would have preferred breakfast to have been inclusive and a room facing the lake but I appeciate it was a late booking.

“Breakfast is expensive at ?u15 a head.There did not appear to be any discount for childrens meals.I would have liked to have been informed that customers arriving early (prior to 2 pm checking in time)could leave their bags free of charge at the hotel. I do not think this is explicit.

My son gave the hotel 7 out of 10. I rateded it 8. We would definitely recommend it and consider a return next time we are in Cardiff.”

• Checking in and checking out,as in most good hotels was very hassle free

“Lovely hotel,would stay here again in the summer but not in the winter.
Some of the kitchen staff could possibly do with some basic training on how to prevent accidents.”

• Extremely friendly staff & excellent service. Bar was pricey but leisure facilities were superb!!

“The only problem we had was that 1 of the lamps in the bedroom didn't work but that wasn't a major dilemma as we had another 3! Excellent value for money - this hotel was exactly what myself & my partner needed to escape. We only live 25 minutes away from the hotel but it felt like a million miles - superb hotel. The pool was relaxing as was the Sauna, Steam Room & Spa Pool. The place was pretty empty so we had it to ourselves most of the time (it was a Sunday night). The bar was expensive (10.25 for 2 drinks!!) but if you don't want to fork out there is a Tesco & M&S over the road, and a McDonalds!! We will definitely visit again!!”

• Gym on site, great food through room service, relaxed atmosphere, bus organised to go to Millenium Stadium
• Was happy with our discounted room rate, but would have been disappointed to pay '200 per night.

• the atmostphere in the hotel was positive and relaxed
• there was noise on the saturday night which interupted my sleep. the food in the bar could have been of better quality.

“I would have liked to know what others thought of the hotel (read some reviews.)I did not book through the hotels own website which may explain why I did not see a review, only a guest rating. a price list of the drinks and a copy of the menu for both the bar and the resturant would have been useful.”

• High quality hotel with health spa and good facilities & very helpful staff, and pleasant grounds / views
• lack of Jacuzzi bath

“We booked a connoisseur room which we felt was very good value for money, and allows use of a separate lounge. (As per the hotel description), it is about 4 miles from the ity centre, however the hotel lays on acourtesy bus hourly on saturdays, and were also helpful in calling taxi's.”

• Room was very comfortable & quiet with a nice view of the waterside - bed was especially comfortable. Also like generous 12pm checkout time.

“In general I was very happy with the facilities of the Copthorne Hotel, our room was lovely - comfortable, clean & quiet and the leisure facilities were spotless and not too busy, so we relaxed thoroughly, which was the aim of our weekend. Well located close to Cardiff and close to the Airport as we didn't have time in our short weekend to do any extensive travelling outside of that general area - getting transport to and from both was no problem.”

• good, room was fine and nice atmosphere but rather far outside cardiff central no shuttles in the evenings
• price of breakfast is riddiculus - '15.00 per person which was not included also the hotel is very far outside the city and shuutles stop at 6:00 pm

“hotel was nice, clean, greta facilities
we were staying to go out at night in cardiff and it was not suitable as it was a '12 taxi ride in and out of the city
breakfast was not included so added ot the cost a lot and we decided not to have it at '15 pp so went back inot the city for breakfast which was a real pain

I woud not stay again if I wanted ot go out in Cardiff as it's too far out”

• It felt like our own luxury appartment. Water was hot, view was great.

• The location was excellent, it was easy to get to and the rooms were of a fair standard.
• Smokey atmosphere in Lobby and corridors, the room lighting was also a bit low.

• Very nice leisure club with helpful staff
• Rooms were way too hot and the windows would only open a short way. None of us got a very good nights sleep and my son slept in the chair as he was just so hot in the bed

“This was just a one night stay in readiness for an early flight from Cardiff airport the next morning. Overall a very nice hotel at an excellent rate. Just a pity it was so hot and difficult to sleep.”

• plenty of parking space, easy access in and out of hotel, good food.
• there really wasent any that bad to put down.
