• The price and breakfast are tops!

“The location was good for the city center, so for me was ideal. Through the day my bike provided an excellent way of getting about and seeing the city. What can I say Birmingham is one of the best places for shopping, nights out and feeling safe. Top week!”

• The privacy and the genral friendly atmosphere around the hotel. Felt right at home!

“Mostly perfect, better directions from the train station would have been helpful, such as bus numbers from the city centre and a list of nearby attractions. Would be ideal in attracting customers as they would be aware of what was on offer and places that could be visited.”

• Very good hotel but lacks in room facilities.
• The TV swet in my room didn't work for the first 3 days although it was repaired everyday. Also, in our last night, someone put the wake up call at 4am and it started ringing every 10 minutes.

• Clean, friendly, and near to my reason for staying.
• Dated, slight smell of cigarette smoke in the lobbey, not a great bed.

“The single room I had was small, but no smaller than expected. Hotel, bedroom, and en-suite where very dated, but clean. The bed was not very comfortable, and it would have been nice to have had a duvet, rather than the sheet and blanket(s), and newer pillows. Overall it wasn't a bad hotel for the price. The included breakfast was however really good, varried, and fresh. Would stay again, but purely for location, as you get what you pay for. To coin a phrase, cheap and cheerful.”

• Very Handy for City centre and Motorway access,with plenty of parking spaces.
• Bathroom whilst being very clean had very antiguated Showering facilities,also Food was very bland.

“I found the Comfort Inn (Edgebaston) typical of many City centre Hotels whereby they know people will still use them for handiness of location even though they would have to lower their standards.

In the case of the Comfort Inn I felt that the Bathroom had probably not been refurbished in the last 30 years or so, the shower was weak and the head would not stay in the holder also the tray did not have a glass surround but an ill fitting shower curtain that stuck to you when wet whilst letting water out to flood the bathroom floor.

Also the toilet seat was broken at the hinges and kept slipping off the pan.(it looked like it had been broken for quite a while)

In it,s defence the room and bathroom whilst being tired was very clean and tidy.

I also felt that the food in the Restaurant was fairly bland with little thought put into the menu.

But again on the plus side all the staff that I came into contact with were very friendly and helpful.

I would recommend this Hotel if your priority is location but not if you wanted somewhere nice to spend a weekend say with Family.”

• unfortunately my room had a strong damp musty smell which hit you as soon as you opened the door.

• Staff very friendly and helpful. Good food and plenty of it in restaurant.
• Rood old fashioned and very small. Noisy from traffic

Would advise that upgrade to Premier room well worth it.
Staff helpful and friendly, helped to make it an enjoyable stay.
Good food, recommend the breakfast and carvery.”

“There is really little more to stay. The hotel provided me with a congenial and convenient roof over my head. I was able to eat in the excellent restaurant, and not go out after a lot of driving. I was very comfortable.”

• Broken equipment in room. Generally poor facilities.

“I have no idea how this hotel was awarded 3 AA stars. I have stayed in 1 star hotels with better facilities. I arrived on the Sunday night at approximately 9.30pm to discover that the room I booked did not have a bath. The TV set in the room was missing its remote control, together with half the buttons on the set so it was impossible to change channels. Upon complaining, I was given a remote control which was broken. Despite the hotel advertising room service until 10.30pm, I was told at 10pm that I would have to go down to the bar to get food, only to discover when I got down there that the chef had actually left. If I had the energy to find another hotel after driving for 7 hours that day, I would have left right then.

I also did not eat any food at the hotel whatsoever, but was initially still billed for 4 breakfasts on checking out. I also had the impression the hotel had leisure facilities on site. They were actually 10 minutes walk away.”

• The restaurant was excellent value for money with very good staff
• The room was small,uncomfortable and shabby.

“As above. In my initial room the television did not work. This was dealt with appropriately and the room was changed. However the new room was still small, shabby and uncomfortable.

The restaurant however was excellent value and the staff in all areas I used were efficient and helpful.

As a solo female business traveller I would probably not use this hotel again, since I could not be guaranteed a comfortable stay. This was despite the very good internet rate.”

• Asked for non smoking and rear of hotel. GOT smoking and front of hotel

“I asked reception once booked in why I had a smoking room and they said 'probably because they did'nt have any non left, but a person in front of me was asked if they wanted smoking or non smoking. They did not re check to see if they had any available!! Worse nights sleep I have had in years due to smelly stale smokey room and traffic noise from Hagley Road”

• Comfortable, reasonable amenities
• Toilet was improperly fixed to the floor and the room was right next door to the lift.

“Breakfast is very good. It is always busy. Car parking and access from the M5 is very easy. Access to Birmingham city centre from the hotel is very easy and rapid. Prices of rooms vary a lot, depending how and when booked.”

• In a quiet wing and had a bath.
• The fact that tea and coffee tray was shoved in a draw and difficult to find, TV channels were not correctly preset. Breakfast was not well cooked.

“Overall Good but unfortunately being woking by fire alarm at 5am did not good down well aespecially as there was no indication given by staff where to assemble and it was raining outside. Fire Brigade took 20 mins to arrive. No explanation of fire siutation was given to guests.

Breakfasts needs to radically improve. Bacon looked steamed, Scrambled egg was rubbery and the Hash Brown were soggy. The server took over 10 minutes to arrive with tea.”

• Easy parking facilities, simple system to come and go. Not being charged for breakfast that was not required
• Room was cold. Lack of towels. Short booking out time

“I liked the hotel and accommodation. The staff were very pleasant inparticular the room maid (floor4) Recommended changes would more towels, warmer room. Slightly concerned that my card details were taken over the phone on booking then on arrival and then on departure. This seems excessive during all this period of so much card fraud. This system needs to be simplified to assure peace of mind.”

• Clean, tidy hotel with polite staff. Excellent breakfast for meat eaters or veggies.
• Shower curtain in bath did not stop much water getting on the bathroom floor.

• Excellent breakfast, big carpark, friendly staff, central to town.
• Breakfast closes promptly.

“The two days I spent at the hotel were great and at the price were excellent value for money. The room was warm, clean and tidy with trouser press and tea\coffee making facilities. The bed was comfortable and seemed to have all the requisite pieces (mattress, headboard, pillows, sheets). The ensuite bathroom was good and the shower was nice and strong, I really don't like weak showers. The TV had a couple of satellite channels as well as terrestrial - Sky news, Sky 1 and sky sports 1 and 2 - well it did once I'd tuned them in!

There is a nice garden behind the hotel with some chairs and table sout on the grass.

The Breakfasts were excellent and self serve with a choice of juices, continental or full English. I was a bit annoyed that they had run out of Croissants on the Friday morning and when we asked about it we were told that it would take too long for the Kitchen to make them. They also close breakfast very promptly so get there on time.

All in all, I think this is hotel is excellent value for the money and the majority of staff I met were courteous and helpful. Recommended!”

• Friendly staff, good breakfast.
• Disappointed with the room, it had old decor and was not maintained (wallpaper pealing off). Had old TV that did not work properly.
