• Comfortable bed. Well situated.
• Smell of cigarette unbearable. Updated.

“It needs some modernization. Our room was huge but much updated. Big and comfortable bed. Hotel well situated. We asked for a nonsmoking room and we had it but in a smoking wing. JAJA. Nice. I do not think it should be allowed to smoke in a five start hotel. The smell is unbearable. Also they should think about getting a direct access from the parking into the hotel.”

• Double bedroom good size & bed very comfortable.
• Room furniture tacky & dated. Breakfast much too expensive!

“The room was a good size and the bed was extremely comfortable but the pillows weren't! Bedroom and bath/shower room were very clean. The bedroom furniture looked like an amateur DIY person had made it and the chair in our room had a large cigarette burn on it; even though we were in a non smoking room. The sachets of coffee in the room were the most horrid I had ever tasted but the children thought the hot chocolate was very nice. Unfortunately they had to share 1 between them as this was all that had been left. We stayed for 2 days and it would have cost us another a#143.60 for breakfast if we had chosen to eat in the hotel. So instead we took a 2min walk in the morning and got big fresh bacon baps, coffee, fresh fruit juice and croissants for under a#30.the drinks at the bar are also very expensive with not much change from a#4 for a pint of beer. The price we paid for the room was good value but everything else was most certainly overpriced; even for a city! All in all I would recommend this hotel. These were only minor grumbles and didn't deter from our stay.”

• All members of staff, especially those in room service, were very helpful and friendly.
• There was a lack of variety of food offered within the hotel restaurant.

“Overall a very pleasant hotel to stay in and close to the various shopping centres and other venues of interest. Well worth a consideration when looking for accommodation in Birmingham.”

• Near City Centre for shops, bars, restaurants etc.
• Parking is sometimes difficult. Breakfast is expensive unless you ask for the half price vouchers.

“This is a good City Centre Hotel which offers good value accomodation near to shops, restaurants and bars. The breakfast is good but expensive at ?u16. If you ask for half price vouchers at the reception then it becomes much better value.
Parking ios sometimes difficult especially when busy but for a City Centre hotel it is reasonable.”

• There was a good standard of cleaning in the room.Staff efficient and friendly
• Booked the hotel again to use the pool,to be turned away -new opening times!

“The hotel is of good standard and the staff are very friendly but 2 things make it unlikely that we will rebook again. Point 1 is the limited times the pool is available to guests (not changed till after we arrived)and the fact that as two women, we felt very unsafe having to use the rear entrance, accessed by an alley late at night.”

“The hotel is on the doorstep of the night life and shopping. Facilities are excellent and staff are pleasant and helpful.

• very clean and tidy
• when we checked into the room it was quite cold as the radiators werent on. I ofund this quite strange in the middle of a very cold February.

“I think it was a very nice hotel for the price i pad but if i had paid the full '120 that the actual hotel charges i would have been disappointed.”

• The staff were very friendly and a central location

“We had a lovely weekend - spoilt only by the other noisy residents/broken facilities. The staff were lovely and the location was perfect. It wouldn't put me off staying again but I would ask to be put somewhere that we would be able to sleep. I did think that in a four star hotel it would be quieter.
If there are any special offers in the future, I would be very interested.”

• rooms size was good, fairly quite. Good facilities although meals are expensive
• central heating system was very noisy

“Good location in the centre. Rooms very comfortable but with a noisy central heating system. Meals pricey but a good breakfast can be got about 50 yds from the hotel for 1/3rd of the price! The staff were very attentive but no more than necessary. The common rooms were comfortable and the leisure facilities were good.”

• Value for money;good towels, good bed and linen;smart corridors. Very helpful/courteous staff
• couldnt find an individual temp control - hence a bit stuffy; window didnt seem double glazed as promised, still background noise evident.

“At discount rate this was a great find in a central position - beware tho breakfast is one price and expensive.At rack rate the standard room would seem a bit outdated. However,excellent queen sized bed and great pillows/duvet and towels.Its very convenient for ICC, Broad St etc.A bit of a trek from New St station if on foot as its uphill.”

• Within walking distance to business location
• Poor late night reception service on the front desk (after 22:00)in getting telephone calls and messages to hotel guests from overseas callers; and, instructions for the use of computer modem ports need to be added to the services directory.

“Better directions on driving within the City centre to reach parking lot of the hotel off the round-about would have been useful, e.g. approach from M6 southbound onto the A38 and landmarks to reach the hotel, for example.”

“Couldn't see an option to book twin room therefore had to use special request space. Also no option for non-smoking room during booking so unpleasant smoke odours, faulty temperature gauge on shower. Reservation made in my name but under guest name at check-in. Receptionist left on own, which meant that whilst doing our check-in she also had to keep apologising to answer the phone. Although I appear to be complaining, in general I couldn't fault the staff and the room was excellent value”

• convenient location for city centre and close to the relatives we were visiting
• bed uncomfortable and no fridge which we had on a previous visit to the hotel

“generally good value for money for a city centre hotel. As above I think the rooms could be improved as the two times we have stayed there the double bed was uncomfortable. I am not sure if there are twin bedded rooms but I was not given this option online.”

• clean and comfortable
• felt uncomfortable that there was a connecting door to the next room even though locked i was suspicious about security since i had previuosly had a theft whilst in a differant hotel (not your chain)

“generally everthing was fine with the exception of the above and the cost of breakfast. i felt that '15 plus for orange juice and cereal was extortionate. i had to pay for the hotel myself since it was my choice to stay over the night before the seminar to enable me to be fresher and more alert next day rather than face 4 hrs travelling on public transport prior to the seminar. had i have known the cost of breakfast then i would have gone elsewhere instead of eating at the hotel.”

• good sized room, , very good bathroom, light and bright, quiet

“excellent accommodation right in centre of Birmingham.
we ate breakfast out however as very very close to alternatives and hotel full breakfast expensive and cafe express coffee and pastries breakfast didnt look too appealing, and was in a bar area that smelt faintly of smoke. Otherwise excellent.”

• Good value room, central location, parking facility.
• Swimming pool and steam room were closed.

“Good location for center, car parking facilities, good priced room.

Swimming pool and steam room were closed due to problems. Bar drinks were very expensive, especially the wine, Mid price of '7 for large glass of wine. It put me off drinking or eating in the bar and restaurant.”

• A good all round impression was created and should the occasion arise we will definitely return.
• Breakfast sounded expensive but we left at 5.45am so couldn't have it nor therefore comment on value!

Proximity to the Coach Interchange Station that we found to be immediately behind the hotel. For persons with an early tranfer pick-up time your hotel is ideally situated.”

“Good central location. However the hotel is located in the middle of a busy roundabout, so it is quite noisy. There is a lack of parking and I had to park in the NCP over the road.
Excellent evening meal. Overall, I thought the hotel was good and would stay again.”

• great reception people and bar and restraunt facilities very good and bar staff were great to.
• room service was disgraceful

“to date this is far the best hotel i have visted so far in birmingham and the staff were great.however the two times i booked room service was probably the worst i have experienced and that took away what would of been a very pleasant stay.on the first occasion i had old warmed up food and flat warm beer which arrived at my door in five minutes. the shift manager collected the food from my room and agreed it was of poor quality.and on the second occasion i thought i would go simple and ordered a sticky toffee pudding and a bottle of wine at 8.30pm by 9.25 when it eventually arrived i was passed wanting to eat and drink and sent the food and drink away.on both occasions although apologies by room service no face to face apology from any management on site which would of been the right thing to do in both situations.”

• Found the parking arrangements poor considering the standard of the hotel i.e. had to park on waste land and duck under the chain to get out.
• I don't visit Birmingham that often so hard to find. Check-in very slick

“I made the mistake of not asking for a non-smoking room and couldn't be bothered to change once I had booked in. I am not sure if there was an option on the internet booking form but there should be.The TV remote did not work.”

• Excellent food, superb & friendly staff. Excellent all round we would def stay again
• Rooms were extremely warm, we feel ac would be required

• Excellent staff service, very friendly, and standard of food excellent.
• Limited parking, slow to check-out, were not made aware of all facilities available, eg swimming pool, etc

“Overall, staff were very pleasant and made it a trouble free and comfortable stay. We were a little confused however as to whether breakfast was included. Your magazine said it was included, yet we saw a menu indicating '15 and '16 for breakfast and were (kindly)offered vouchers. After extending our stay for one night, we were informed breakfast would be included, hence the day of our departure was the only morning we had breakfast in the hotel.”
