“Mini-bar and staff does not make a four star hotel. You first need a four star building, rooms, and floor plan. Glass bathroom doors wakes spouse in middle of night. Upgrade to next class room was worth it until we noticed sewer gas coming from somewhere in bathroom.” May 22, 2007 by
Margie from Chatsworth, CA
“It was okay. The location was good. There are few good hotels in central area. This was okay.” Jan 1, 2007 by

“Good hotel. Friendly staff. Excellent location.” Nov 15, 2006 by
Augusto from East Longmeadow, MA
“For location the hotel is great. However, I don't think the hotel is a 4 star. Rooms are very small. Didn't have much room for luggage. The beds (2 single connected for us) were the most uncomfortable bed that I have ever slept in. The bathroom was also small. Didn't have much room to put things on the sink or anywhere. I guess because of the location you may forget the bad things about the room.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Oct 2, 2006 by

“Hotel was ok, we had upgraded to a superior room and was glad we did it since the regular rooms are VERY small. Other than that, good value for the money.” Aug 26, 2006 by
Karl from Brewer, ME
“This is not a 4 star hotel, not by any standards!” Aug 21, 2006 by
Phil from Cerritos, CA
“Friendly staff, great location and clean, comfortable rooms.” Aug 13, 2006 by
Michael from Houston, TX
“The service was excellent. All of the staff members spoke English (as well as several other languages). The location was great for shopping and sightseeing. It was close to all of the main attractions. The Anne Frank House was a ten-minute leisurely walk. The Rijks-museum was only seven minutes away using the number five tram. Overall, I give the hotel and staff high marks. I would stay at the Hotel Amsterdam de Rode Leeuw again.” Jul 24, 2006 by
Joe from Bernardsville, NJ
“If you want to take the train shuttle from Schipol Airport and walk to a city central hotel. It's located adjacent to the Dam square. You can walk directly behind the hotel to the shops and bars, or you may cross the Damrack avenue and stroll through the Red Light District. I prefer the Leidsplein for charm, but you can't beat this location as a home base for traveling by train to the outskirts of Amsterdam. The area is less convenient to the rails, but also more pleasant than Dam Square.” May 22, 2006 by
Tim from Cambridge, MA
“Excellent location but lots of noise due to construction on tram in front of the hotel at odd hours. Staff was friendly but the room was a bit cramped for two. Overall we were satisfied with the value and had a great time in Amsterdam.” Apr 29, 2006 by
Richard from Provincetown, MA
“Good location, near everything and good services.” Hotel Representatives:
