• Close to the Great Lakes Naval facility for Navy graduation.
• One bed for a single mom and her 16 yr old son.

“Shower curtain smelled of mildew. Unidentifiable stain on bedspread. This hotel has only one bed per rented room. Please take it off your list as I requested 1 room with 2 beds and you still stuck me with this place. No maid service unless you stay 5 days - had to take our own trash out. No swimming pool. Would not stay there again.”

• Large Rooms, DVD player in room, kitchen in room.
• Location was a little out of the way from interstate.

“We really enjoyed this hotel. Very large rooms with great amenities. Loved the free washer and dryer, DVD player in room, kitchen made traveling with children easy. Rooms were clean and staff friendly and helpful. Great Hotel!”

• Checked in about 11:30 PM and room had not yet been cleaned.

“Not worth 63.00 a night when you check in half way through the night and the room isn't even ready for you! skip this hotel.”

• I liked the convenience of the Candle wood Cupboard.
• They do not have rooms with two beds. There were three of us. Extremely disappointed.

“I liked the Candle wood cupboard, the complimentary movies and laundry facilities. Candle wood Suites do not have rooms with two beds, so my son had to sleep on the floor. They did not even have roll away beds. Exercise facility was also very nice. Staff was helpful and friendly.”

• Close to business location (Grayslake, Il).
• Fitness room equipment (bicycle) was in lousy condition.

“I don't like many of the so-called "extended stay" motels because they rarely offer 2 beds. This particular motel would be excellent for a solo traveler.”

• Easy to get to.
• Non-smoking room smelled of stale smoke.

“This is the 2nd time we stayed here. This time was much better because we knew how they operated (no maid service, few amenities, etc). We were better prepared so it was more enjoyable. Great for a "sleeping" room.”

• The Hotel was great for any occasion. The service was top notch.
• I did not get a room with two double beds that I thought I requested.

“The Candlewood Suite in Chicago Waukegan was all that I could have wished. I was made to feel comfortable and welcomed. I give this hotel SUPER GOOD rating for afford ability and quality.”

• The price, room size and cleanliness were great and most of the staff was fabulous.
• I wish it had a pool or hot tub and late checkout was not easy to achieve.

“We live locally and needed a place near home while work was done, this was convenient and for the price was terrific. We have stayed at most of the local 2 or 3 star places in the last couple of months and this was the best value for the accommodations by far.”

• It offers free video and books during your stay. The exercise room is very convenient. And having a kitchen in the room is a plus.
• It is hard to gain access to the parking lot.

• The room was very comfy. Plus there was a small kitchen where you could prep small meals.
• You have to make a couple of U turns in order to get to the hotel.

“This hotel was very comfortable. The only bad thing is that you only get one queen sized bed. So, you better be cozy if you are traveling with someone.”

• The hotel environment was very inviting. It gave me a feeling o f home.
• The entrance is very limited , it's only one way in and out. so that force us to make you turns.

• The hotel was clean and fresh offering soda and popcorn also free movies to watch this was very nice.
• It was not located close to the mall we wanted to go too.

• I really enjoyed the hotel it was even better than what I had expected I will be returning to the area and will use this hotel for my stay.

• The hotel was clean and nice. The hotel staff were very helpful in giving us a map of the city and pointing us in the direction we needed to go.
• The cleaning staff didn't clean on a daily basis. In our two days stay, they didn't come to clean or empty the trash receptacles at all.

“The hotel was clean and was close to the Naval Base. I would recommend this place to all who would be traveling in the Gurnee, Waukegan area in Chicago.”

• Front door opening for bringing luggage in on cart a little tight.

“Overall we were very pleased with our stay. The kitchen area that came with the suite was perfect for our situation. Despite having the kitchen area taking up some space, this room ( a studio suite one of their smallest) was still very spacious.”

“This hotel was wonderful, but because of a glitch in the system we were put up at another place for the first night. Also, dirctions to the hotel might want to be reviewed. We could not find the CR or country road.”

• TV did not work and was not fixed. No room make-up without request. Almost no staff for assistance.

“Hotel was clean enough, relatively new. Location a bit difficult to find with internet map guidance at 2 in the morning (not their fault). I felt like I was in a daily rented apartment with no maid service and no front dask help (local directions, etc.) when needed.”

• The room was very nice, as was the lobby.
• No pool. No housekeeping. The girls at the front desk were always on personal phone calls and we felt like we were "bothering" them to ask a question.

• The location, price and the amenities that are available at no additional cost, ie movies, books, washers.
• There was nothing that I did not like.

• It is very convenient to Waukegan and where I traveled. Nancy, the front desk lady, was very nice and helpful.
• They don't clean rooms on weekends. I only stay there on wekends.

“Fairly new. Small rooms but has what you need. Over priced laundry and store on the first level. Movie theater across the highway. No room service on weekends. You can watch TV from the bathroom!”

• Clean rooms, friendly staff, free movie rental, close to Naval Base and other attractions

“The hotel was very nice. Their rooms were clean and comfortable. They had a pantry for snacks that could be purchased at reasonable prices. They had VCR's in each room and free movies and DVD's at the desk. It was more than I expected. We will be visiting there again.”

“This hotel was very poorly constructed with major sound echoing problems. ALL rooms have only one bed. This is a hotel made for heavy sleepers for long-term stays, NOT for the casual traveler who has a deadline. The staff was very nice, but it was drastically understaffed.”
