• Customer service was horrid!

“My room smelled and there were left over beer cans from the previous visitors. Front desk attendant seemed as if this were a normal occurrence. I was traveling with a toddler and he was the one to find the beer can, had he drank from it this Chain would not only be getting a bad review, they would have had a lawsuit on their hands. I was very unhappy with the Candlewood Suites in Tempe.”

• I liked all the convenience of the food, laundry room, and DVD rental.
• The couch is small, no DVD in room, and lots of business people.

• The location only.
• Cleanliness was lacking, amenities were lacking small rooms, hotel booked a birthday party and kids were running all over the hotel, took over pool.

• It was very traveler friendly with many bonus amenities.
• Needed better fitness facilities.

• We didn't specifically ask for a non-smoking room and I could smell smoke, not good.

• Claimed hotel was "full", no rooms available, no "rollaway", etc.

“We had a party of 3, booked a room with 2 double beds. When we checked in (early in the day) the hotel put us in the smallest room with one queen bed. Also they claimed there were no rollaway either. So one of us had to sleep on the floor for 5 nights. The hotel was not helpful at all.”

• Great location. Right next to the mall and close to nightlife.
• I did not like the lobby there was not much to it.

“Hotel was very easy to find and was close to a lot of restaurants and the mall which has a movie theater. Bed was comfortable. Room was clean. I would not choose this hotel as a romantic getaway stay its more for business and probably single travelers. They do not have king size beds.”

• I liked the larger bathroom.
• The bathroom floor was dirty, dirty sheets, dirty couch.

“DO NOT stay here! Make sure you spend a little bit more and stay somewhere else! The floor was dirty; hair on the floor, in the shower, the couch had food crumbs on it, not vacuumed off! The sheets had hair on them and the carpet was dingy. It's not worth it! Very overpriced! They don't even have a human tending the front desk until 10:00 am! Come on! People like us check out earlier than that, we didn't even get a receipt because no one was there!”

• Only had one queen bed in every room.

“I had reservations for 2 nights, but I'd check out after the first night, I could not stay the 2 nights, because is stinky, smell too bad, is my most very bad experience in a hotel. This hotel it does not rate for any Star (no rate for 1-star economy that I put in the question #9, no other option it was). Please, you need to take this hotel out of you list, this kind of hotel it does not rate as 2-star, actually no rate for any star. I am very disappointed at this point. Thank you!”

“When I walked into the lobby it reminded me of a low-budget hotel. But the clerk was so friendly and helpful I felt comfortable. I was very pleasantly surprised by the room. It was very spacious and very clean. Good value for the money. ”

• Convenient to many desirable spots.
• They only have queen size beds.

“This hotel is like many others that seem to be sprouting forth with a nice kitchen which may not be used as the rooms are really set up for one traveler or perhaps a couple. It is near the airport, Tempe, and other popular tourist areas. There are some extra amenities and a friendly environment prevails.”

• If two people are traveling not as a couple it does not accommodate.

“1) Although I specifically booked a non-smoking room, but when we arrived we were told that the only available rooms are smoking or handicap. We chose the handicap room, but it turned out to have heavy smell of cigarette smoke! 2) Sign in room said free dialup connection, but provided outlet did not have a dial tone.”

“Relatively easy to get to, though a block farther off the freeway than I had thought, very friendly staff for our late arrival, kids had a great time at the pool. I'd go there again!”

• It had a kitchenette and the area was convenient.
• The bed was too small, the pillows were too small, the air conditioning didn't function properly.

“For the price I guess I can't really complain, but the bed was not comfortable and it was difficult to sleep with an air conditioning that ignored our thermostat settings and just got colder and colder and colder. Otherwise it was fine, the staff was very friendly..”

• The pillows were horrible, I couldn't sleep.

“The staff was friendly and helpful, but the lack of lobby and breakfast was not expected for the rating I chose. The pillows at this hotel were the worst part. They were hard and lumpy and not conducive to sleeping.”

“The staff of the Candlewood Suites was friendly and helpful. They offered my choice of floors. The rooms are suite style, complete with kitchens, a small stove, and large refrigerator. They even left some microwave popcorn in the microwave and had coffee available for the coffeemaker. I was impressed to see an iron and an ironing board, as well, and it proved helpful. Perfect for business or leisure travel, although not necessarily a place for families with young children, as it was definitely adult-oriented, and their target market is for business travel.”

• The helpful staff, the quality and amenities of hotel
• NOTHING. Everything was more than I expected

“The hotel was conveniently located for me. The offered extra amenities not found in other hotels of its kind. The staff was courteous and very helpful. They offered a free dinner by the pool that I was unable to take advantage of, but another example of their high quality of service.”

• The amenities offered are unmatched, even by higher rated hotels. Service was impeccable.
• There is only one entrance into the parking lot off the side of a small street. When we first arrived, we had to backtrack for the parking lot.

“This hotel far exceeded our expectations. Wonderful place to stay, friendly atmosphere, amenities were far beyond those of ANY other place we've ever been. Excellent experience!”
