• On the river walk, great bed, coffee in room, accommodating staff.
• No working ice machines, high speed internet on 3 floors only, parking expensive, no refrigerators in room.

“Crowne Plaza was nicer and in a better location. than I expected. This used to be an Adams Mark and is still being upgraded. Ice machines did not work on any floor and access to high speed internet is limited to three floors at this time but I think that when renovation is completed that these issues will be resolved. Having said that the staff moved us to a room with wireless access, brought buckets of ice to us upon request and so our stay was very satisfactory. Rooms are pretty and very nicely furnished. The beds are great and that is, after all, probably the most important thing. The water taxi on the River walk stops right at this hotel so it was very, very convenient to go to dinner or just tour around. Because it is a bit at the "end" of the River walk location is quiet and not congested. I would stay here again.”

“Overall had a great stay. The only slight negatives: The last stretch of Riverwalk before the hotel was quite secluded, and the area behind the hotel was not someplace I would want to walk alone at night. Parking was expensive for hotel guests ($23/night) and the underground walkway from the garage to the hotel had a musty odor to it, which they seemed to try to cover up with a floral smelling air freshener not that big of a deal, just a fore warning!”

• Close access to river walk & downtown.
• Curtains would not close to block out the sun to sleep during the day.

“The Crowne Plaza was very clean, and the staff extremely helpful. We even asked for a late check-out by 2 hours and it was no problem. We didn't have to pay for it. It is located on the northwest side of downtown San Antonio and, while located on the river walk, is a short walk to the main river walk area. The only two complaints I have are: 1) the blackout curtains in the room are set in-place and only shut out 1/6 of the window on each side. Therefore, you could not sleep in at all because you had no control over closing the window shades; and, 2) parking at the hotel was somewhere around $23.75 per day. Fortunately, there was a parking lot literally across the street for $8 per day, which we used the entire 3 nights we were there.”

• We got a view of the river.
• It's obviously very old.

“The parking garage was very expensive ($23.75 in addition to cost of hotel) and did not seem very secure considering it is in an unsavory part of Downtown. The garage was well lit, but there were winos, homeless people, and what appeared to be streetwalkers loitering on the perimeter of the hotel.”

• Entire staff was outstanding!
• No smoking rooms.

“From the moment we arrived until we checked-out every single staff member was courteous, friendly, and helpful beyond the call of duty. The room was beautiful with a gorgeous view. The entire hotel was clean, spacious, and comfortable. I would highly recommend the Crown Plaza to any traveler!”

• Everyone was courteous and helpful all the way down to the valley!
• I thought the bedding was a little bland.

“This hotel was a wonderful stay. Everything was very comfortable and the staff was very well organized and very polite. The food was a bit pricey, it was $14 for the buffet and $3 for coffee but the quality and service was good.”

• Rooms were clean and furnished property.
• Noisy after midnight, parking was inconvenient and costly. Bed very hard.

“Probably a good hotel for conferences but not for leisure. Staff on check-in was nice, but had a problem getting out of parking garage. Instructions were unclear and had to wait on staff to let us out. A noisy party after 2:00 AM kept us up for over an hour. Would not stay here again.”

“I arrived on a Sunday night, and the hotel was dead. No one greeted me at the door to take my car or help with the bags. I was surprised how small my room was and how this was supposed to be a 3 star hotel. The front desk staff really didn't care that I was a single woman who had to park the car in a self-park garage in the part of the city that I will not stay in. This hotel says it is part of the Riverwalk, but it is at the tail end of the walk and I felt uncomfortable walking alone at night to get to a restaurant.”

“The hotel was very clean and staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms were very clean, but small. We also thought the beds were too hard. Parking was outrageously expensive at $23.75/day. We parked in a garage 1 block from hotel at $7.00/day (note: there were no in/out privileges like at the hotel). The hotel was located right on the Riverwalk, but it was set away from the main part. This made the atmosphere quiet, but it took about a 10-15 minute walk to get anywhere fun.”

“The 9th floor was clearly re-carpeted/-painted/-wallpapered recently. Unfortunately, the smell, carpet trimmings and other evidence were clear and abundant reminders of this. The hotel could have done a better job cleaning up after itself before letting guests use this floor.”

• I liked everything about our stay.

“They put us up in an "executive" room on the top floor. We felt like royalty and paid far less than others. We overheard someone else "extend" their stay at twice the price we paid. It was very romantic. Our anniversary was wonderful and memorable.”

• Pillows and water pressure, two of my 3 measures.
• Staff was uniformed, unhelpful and unapologetic.

“The bellman locked our keys in the car within 2 minutes and wanted to open a brand new vehicle w/a coat hanger. The staff didn't know the fitness room was under renovation and then sent me to a closed workout facility 3 blocks away. The waiter didn't get a simple breakfast order correct after repeating it twice and didn't tell us about the breakfast buffet. On the way out the bellman didn't help load the luggage. This hotel while it is called Crowne Plaza Riverwalk is very far away from the main Riverwalk. The property is nice but the staff was inept and uncaring.”

• Room was a little small, bar closed too early.

“Overall very nice and clean, they ask for $28 a night parking, but there is a $3 surface lot across the street that we used to save money. The hotel bar closed at 10:30 on the weekend nights. Bedding was soft and crisp. Walk is about 5-10 to main Riverwalk section.”

“Not as close to main attractions the lesser hotels (Drury Inn, Holiday Inn etc.) Were closer and more available to main street & attractions parking was across the street and so was the handicap which we needed.”

• Staff friendly and accommodating the parking valet's were awesome. Always asked if we needed directions.
• Felt unsafe at night outside the hotel, had homeless person approach me for money.

“The hotel was very nice and so was the room. View was pretty good. Ice maker broken on our floor but was fixed by the next day. Did feel unsafe outside of hotel. Location was near the river walk but not the main part of the river walking. Had to drive to that area. Parking valets were great, very accommodating, car was always waiting when we called for it and locked. When we arrived at our car they always asked if we needed directions. Very nice and friendly. Did have a wonderful time in San Antonio, so much to do and see!”

“I was disappointed by this hotel as it made itself out to be geared towards a business traveler, yet there was no free Wi-Fi which is kind of a standard at this point. In order to park you car you had to pay $25/day to park in their lot and even more if you wanted to valet. Meanwhile there is a lot across the street that charged only $8. This hotel portrayed itself as nice, but tried to rip us off whenever they had the opportunity. I would not stay there again.”

• The beds were very comfortable and the shower was the best!
• The location was not great and the service in the hotel was horrible! No Disney channel!

“The hotel was nice and clean. The room was very comfortable. My kids were very disappointed that there was no Disney Channel. We were the only customers in the restaurant and still had to ask for tea and other services. I was not prepared when I named a price that there would be a $28 parking fee. I guess I should have considered the location.”

• The front desk staff was very helpful, everything was clean, and in a safe part of town.
• Hotel valet was $28/night, self parking was $24/night, no one told us this until we self parked and dug our luggage down the street to save only $4.

“The hotel public spaces and rooms were very clean. The room was a bit small, but the beds were comfortable. The staff was helpful and nice. This hotel is not on the river walk as some advertisements say; it is about a ½ mile walk to the river. Overall, it was a pleasant stay.”

• Service was quick and friendly, and even the elevator was easily accessed.
• Takeout food had to be picked up in the lobby (minor complaint!).

“The Crowne Plaza hotel proved to be an excellent choice for my first visit to San Antonio. The staff was friendly and professional, the restaurant at the hotel put out a great buffet, and the rooms were extremely comfortable. A minor issue at a hotel of this quality is the fact that charges are incurred for nearly everything. Nothing is complimentary. Local phone calls are charged a small fee to your bill. Even bottled water in the rooms is available only at an additional charge ($3.50 for a small bottle of water? Those minor issues aside, I would definitely recommend this hotel to business or casual travelers.”

• The look was very appealing.
• Air conditioner needed to be worked on; maintenance came in, switching rooms, fire alarm going off in the middle of the night and staff not concerned.

“My children do not want to return to this hotel. My son was ready to leave in the middle of the night to go home (2-1/2 hrs. Away) the night began fine but then the fire alarm went off at 11:30 and several floors were evacuated. When we went outside no staff members were there and majority of the hotel did not evacuate. Staff members were walking around like nothing happened. We were told we could go back to the room, sauna caught on fire. Heater was on in our room, ac did not work. They gave us a new room but no ac. Maintenance finally came down 15 minutes. Later and fixed it. We were finally able to go to bed at 1:00 that morning. A very long night and not a great experience, we were ready to drive home that night.”

• Room service dishes left in hall too long; room temperature not controllable.

“Given the star rating, I would have expected more attention to details, like picking up room service trays. One sat in the hallway near our room for over 24 hours. I finally moved it to the table near the elevators. We could not control the room temperature with the wall control. One morning, we had no hot water, only warm for shaving and showering. Staff, however, is very friendly and prompt to respond to questions.”

“Nice location at the end of river walk, a 10 minute walk to the main part of river walk but it was a lovely walk and one we didnt mind. The water taxi stops at the hotel but we chose to walk each time because it was so pretty. Many upscale restaurants are only 2 blocks away, on e Houston street which was a convenience for us.”

“Everything was great, but, we were awakened @ 1:30 am by a fire alarm and then were told it was a false alarm, over and over and over and over and over, so the nights sleep was not good at all. Will we go back? Probably not!”
