• Staff let me park my car in front of lobby.
• It is being remodeled. The pool was empty for the first 5 days I was there, but did get filled.

“The rooms are pretty fair, but with all the remodeling, it looked iffy at best.”

• The bed and bedding were clean except for the bed spread which was clearly not cleaned in some time.
• Carpets and bed spread were dirty and the breakfast room for your complimentary breakfast only had 4 tables. Connecting diner off limits for seating.

“Moderately priced, mostly clean. Friendly staff. Hotels! Please clean your bed spreads or don't use them at all. Gross!”

• The rooms were clean and comfortable.

“Right off the freeway, had to carry luggage through hotel to rooms, 2nd story rooms and beds were very clean and comfortable. Clerks were very helpful and gave us coupons for excellent breakfast. A little TLC and they could move up a star. I would stay there again.”

• Nothing, bathroom not even cleaned, not sure bed was changed, window sill filthy, AC didn't work, very noisy, shower head wouldn't move.
• (Taped, headed to back of tub & unmovable) Not a clean room.

“The staff was really very nice, but the service was lousy. It took five phone calls to get towels & washcloths, toilet tissue, coffee & a plastic bag for the ice after emptying the old bag. The room was not clean, and we felt that perhaps we were sleeping in the sheets from the last inhabitants. We would not stay there again!”

“The staff very friendly and handled all problem besides shower/tub combo. The hotel seemed to be advertised bigger and better that it really was. Location was great.”

“When I got there, they said they'd recently changed their policy and now require a $100 non-refundable pet fee! I thought this was both outrageous and was faulty advertising. My dog had to sleep in the car because of this. I am not pleased.”

“If they would patch and repaint, maybe get new rugs in common areas - hotel would be more eye pleasing. Room was OK, Location convenient but not in the best area of town.”

• Nice bar with live music.
• Tough check in process. Leaky windows during rainstorm.

“A clean hotel in a so-so to bad part of Sacramento. The lady working the nightshift made check in difficult. The room was clean, but the windows leaked during a rainstorm. A great bar with live Blues was the real upside to this place. I hope I don't end up there again.”

• I liked it and would stay again assuming they have a much firmer bed.
• The bed was too soft and gave me a worst back ache than I had.

“The hotel and room were clean and quiet. The location of the hotel was in a decent location. The front desk staff was friendly but when I asked what time the restaurant opens for breakfast in the morning (as I was going to my room for the night) I was told 6:30am; Only to walk into the restaurant the very next morning to be told they were closed for a private breakfast.”

• Smell of marijuana smoke in the hall outside of guest rooms.

“Beds uncomfortable, sliding glass patio door had a 1/2-inch air gap between the stationary and moving door allowing cold air and freeway noise into the room. Bathtub was stained with grey spots. Price was fine for a room that was used for sleeping for less than 12 hours.”

• They would check me in without a deposit; I had to walk around the neighborhood all night long!

“Great location. Responsive staff. Poor policies re: human response. I had prepaid for 6 days, but was told to leave because I didn't have $25 on my visa debit for the incidentals deposit. I had to leave at 2am, there were no buses available, no open restaurants, and I came back at 8am after a friend deposited money in my account. That is no way to treat another human being.”

“Shabby, dangerous location and loud guests. No amenities, except a safe in the room. However beds were comfortable and rooms were very clean. Air conditioner was busted so it was hot. Not all those close to Cal-Expo. A good 1-star hotel.”

• Location was good, rooms were spacious.
• Wi-Fi was down, food was terrible, hotel outdated, neighborhood marginal, no newspapers & staff wasn't up to par.

“While the hotel is central, it's not in the best of neighborhoods. Morning buffet was terrible & ends at 10 am w/ no food. Rooms are spacious & clean but I called the front desk for a coffee pot. Never got it but got a maid to give it to me. Also talked to the front desk about some issues & they said they'd call me back ASAP but they never did. Even for the price, this hotel is marginal.”

• I liked the refurnished room in an otherwise rundown motel.
• The only entrance was through the front door. Good for security but a long way to the elevators and our room.

“We arrived in the late evening. There is a lounge with a jazz band playing so loudly that I could not hear the registrar just across the desk. There were people with children sitting on the curb outside the hotel eating, waiting for someone who had come in the front door. Our registration took more than 20 minutes. The outside of this motel was shabby. The hallways had worn carpets. The elevator smelled like burning metal. But, once inside the room, our stay was wonderful. Good beds, everything clean and nice furnishings.”

• In room safe, great location, good restaurant nearby.
• Bathtub and shower broken.

“Overall nice hotel, great location, pretty clean. Nice selection of restaurants about a half mile away. Easy access to downtown, I 80, I 5. But had a few problems, the bath did not have a plug to the drain, so I was not able to give the kids a bath. When called the front desk they sent a maid who did not speak English. I had to use hand signals to tell her about the plug, but she finally motioned that I was out of luck. The shower leaked heavily so the water stream was very weak. The "free continental breakfast" turned out to be 5.95 plus tax a head.”

• The manager on duty was so welcoming and friendly she really made our day.
• The elevators were very small but it's an older hotel. No big deal.

“The rooms were spacious and clean. Very comfortable. If I ever go back to this area I would stay here again because of the manager on duty. She was so accommodating and friendly she really made the hotel experience a better one.”

• It was clean, and the pillows are so comfortable.
• I thought they could pay a little closer attention to detail, like my soap dish was dirty and the tub needs a good scrubbing or bleaching.

“After reading the reviews before I booked the room I was a little leery, I did consider the fact that all the reviews I read were a year old and almost all of them mentioned renovations being made. I couldn't see any evidence of construction, and it was clean. I wasn't worried about crawling in the sheets, it was just what I was hoping for and I didn't think the hotel was in a bad part of town at all. Although, one thing I would have liked is a refrigerator in the room and the elevators need to be updated.”

• The ladies at the front desk were pleasant and tried to help.
• Keys didn't work, air conditioning poor, food cold, no follow through on a complaint. Bad management!

“The young ladies at the desk were pleasant at all times. I made a complaint that the door lock was malfunctioning and my keys and the housekeeping supervisors key didn't work either, they remade keys but made no attempt to fix the door even when they said they would. There was no crème rinse in the bathroom. At breakfast the buffet was poorly watched and all the hot food was cold. I mentioned the problem and no attempted to reheat or offer hot food was made. All of the servers were standing behind the kitchen door chatting and no one watching the floor or helping the customers. I tried to use the gym at 6am in the morning and no one (even the maintenance man) could find the key to open the door. I made a complaint to the hotel sales manager who apologized for the inconvenience, wrote the information down but there was no follow through. I will not be returning and I will not suggest this property to anyone.”

“I enjoyed staying at hotel mostly due to the small distance from Carmel and Monterey. My room was large, clean and well furnished. You can spend 2 or 3 nights at this place, but no more. Unfortunately, there was no air conditioner even though the staff pretended the contrary. Since it's foggy & chilly at night, you won't need air conditioner. There is a tiny pool, so it's not really for adults.”

• Too far to walk, and the 4th floor needs to be renovated, 1st floor is under construction.

“They had problems finding me a room, kept wanting to put me on the 4th floor that needs to be renovated (air conditioner didn't work, older beat up furniture). Ice machine out of order on 2nd floor, 1st floor under construction. Only one way in through the front lobby. Had Jazz concert performing in Bar for a surcharge when I was a guest. Rooms were fine on 2nd floor (some with mini refrigerators).”

“The hotel was pleasant in an old style way. Was okay for just staying there. The staff made it worth the stay. The rooms were clean and the non smoking room did not smell of any smoke. Had problems with door sticking from first room but it was immediately taken care of and we were given another room.”

• It's close to the freeway.
• Swimming pool totally drained, and the iron in my room was stolen prior to my stay.

“It may be the hotel is still undergoing its¿ transition/new ownership. However, other than a new corporate name - it is still a rundown hotel in need of a serious overhaul. I requested a "smoking" room and upon check-in the hotel verified and confirmed they were putting me in a "smoking" room. When I got to the room there was a "non smoking" plaque on the door, when questioned they said there computer showed it as a "smoking" room when really was "non". Their solution was since I was in a first floor room with a balcony - that was my smoking areas went to use the iron - however there was no iron (ironing board, no iron). Front desk said there should be must have been stolen. They had an iron to the room in no time. Stayed on the first floor, went to look for ice and the only ice machine is on the 4th floor! Finally, the swimming pool is completely drained with all the work tools and equipment visible. Just not very eye appealing and no signage i.e., "pardon or dust.¿”

“Everyone at the hotel was very friendly. There was a comedy show that night there too. However, I was placed on the 4th floor and had to walk down a long hallway to my room, quite inconvenient. However, overall the experience was good.”

“Older hotel makes a good public presentation at its entry. It has a sense of former glory in structure as well as location. It was fine for me since it was close to my relatives who I visited and was reasonably affordable. Staff is helpful and courteous. A swimming pool is advertised but not available due to refurbishing.”

• Anastasia was at the front desk, she was very business like yet kind and accommodating. We appreciated the friendliness of the staff in general.
• The bathroom was dirty behind the toilets and it made me feel like it wasn't very clean, there were hairs on the floor in the bathroom.

“We enjoyed the convenience of the location. It was close to everything that we went to Sacramento for. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The price we paid was satisfactory to us.”

“it was the worst hotel stay we have ever had, had to check out one day early, almost didn't get a refund but did. Not going to give my money to a company that does not back up their customers. And am certainly not going to spend money to listen to people in parking lot all night long. Hotel cant even oil door hinges, smells in hallways.”

• There's nothing good to say.
• I got flea bites on my feet, saw two cockroaches run across the hall and the blood splatter on the curtains.

“The first room I checked into smelled so bad I had to change rooms. Not to mention the curtains had blood splatter across them, the mirror was way tilted with two holes beneath it -you could practically remake the crime scene in my room. My second room was o.k., but I of course didn't sleep under the sheets or covers and got flea bites on my feet. It was in a horrible location and it just wasn't clean and nice like you expect a Clarion to be.”

• The staff was very friendly.
• I requested a room with refrigerator and microwave. I did NOT get that service.

“I specifically requested the refrigerator and microwave since we were staying in the hotel for 5 days. It did not allow my family and I to be able to reduce the amount of money we spent in food. There was no complementary breakfast, and the dining room was not open in the morning late enough for us. No appliances caused us to have to eat out for every meal.”
