• The room was really nice. The front staff was friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel was decent. The internet service was a dream comes true!
• The bed itself felt damp. The Kiosk to replace pamphlets was not very helpful and did not contain the areas we were looking for.

“This hotel exceeded our expectations. There were a few set backs, and the cost of breakfast was high compared to the quality or service and the food itself. Over all this was a very nice hotel and the staff (especially the front door staff) were very helpful and informative. I would stay at this hotel again if I was ever going to Pittsburgh!”

• It was close to the Pirates Ballpark and close to downtown.
• The elevators were slow.

“The only issue was that the hotel checked a family into my room by mistake that should have been checked into another room. I opened the door and they were leaving. I was stunned.”

• The location and view of the city.
• Parking fee of 22 dollars is exorbitant.

“I liked the hotel, but I would recommend it for business travelers or two adults. Having two older children constantly wanting to spend 2 dollars for a can of coke which was expensive, and the parking fee was ridiculous.”

• It was very contemporary, clean and attractive. Very comfortable and easy to work in the room.
• I generally prefer to self-park but, the valet parking was just fine.

“Very convenient location to a number of business and cultural venues. I thought the contemporary decor, furniture and fixtures added to the experience. My room felt spacious with very tall ceilings and I was very comfortable working in my room.”

• The downtown location of this hotel is ideal.
• I have no complaints.

“For the price, this is the best hotel I have ever stayed at in Pittsburgh. It's much less expensive than all of the other high-priced hotels, yet it matches everything they have. I recently stayed at the doubletree downtown and would say that this hotel surpasses it in every way.”

• No swimming pool.

• The staff was fantastic.
• The room's bathroom had hair all over the floor.

“The staff at the hotel was warm, welcoming and helpful. There was a major storm occurring when I arrived, and no one seemed concerned about getting home as much as they seemed concerned about how we, their clients, got in. It was an exceptional experience, especially considering the poor weather conditions (it had snowed most of the day, and it had begun raining coating everything in ice).”

• No smoking rooms available.

“For the smoking traveler there is no availability of smoking rooms. They put us on the third floor that opens to the outside courtyard, but the courtyard is only open from 8am to 10pm. It is a secure area and no reason that it could not have been open at all times. The smoker in my room had to stand out front of the hotel on a downtown street. (Not that safe) if non smoking rooms are all that are offered, they should provide a safe area that is for smokers only.”

• One of our shuttle drivers drove like a maniac.

“Five-star location, beautiful room, yummy cookies! The free shuttle to downtown areas makes this a natural home base for sightseeing. We didn't encounter any other families, just business travelers, but that didn't pose a problem. the only drawback was the lack of a grocery store nearby, but that's true for all the downtown hotels. very worthwhile. A lovely place.”

• The restaurant service was very poor.

“Everything was fine, except the two restaurants. The one on the street wouldn't seat us at 4:52pm because "we don't serve dinner until 5pm". The breakfast room hostess wouldn't seat me until she had sorted her checks.....”

“Facilities great, however, there was not anywhere to park and no sign indicating what to do or where to go in search of parking. After several trips around the block, I finally was able to pull in front of the hotel only to be told that the only parking was valet at $22.00 per night or a parking garage about 2 blocks down the street. Being a first time guest, I was very frustrated by the time I finally got to the registration desk. The outside appearance of the hotel made you unsure of the quality, however, once inside the facilities and rooms were great.”

• Lack of adjacent parking.

“The Courtyard Marriott Downtown is conveniently located to several downtown attractions, museums and the convention center. Rooms were spacious and very up-to-date with free high speed internet access. A sufficient business center in the lobby is open 24 hours with coffee service available.”

• All one could expect from a hotel of this class.
• Missed swimming pool. A little noisy on Convention Center side in the middle of night.

“The location was perfect for my purpose near the Heinz Hall and other arts venues. The building seemed to be renovated recently so it was very clean. My room was facing inside and the room was pretty dark all day. They have pretty good shuttle service. The shower had some problem and it was making noise every time I took a shower.”

• This is one of the cleanest hotels I have ever stayed in. The beds were do comfortable. The rooms were nice sized .
• The parking. It was either valet parking which cost $22.50. Or a parking lot that was 2 blocks away that costs $10 a day.

“Overall I loved this hotel. I would recommend it to anyone. It was clean and the staff was very friendly. The only comment I would have is the parking.”

• There were no heavy curtains to pull shut over the windows.

“This Courtyard by Marriott in downtown Pittsburgh was by far my best experience. In some hotels, the front desk staff is not as welcoming to someone who has bought a low rate room. There is a marked difference in the staff's demeanor when they see your bill. The front desk staff on check in and check out treated me as if I were paying full price and then some. The room service is through a restaurant next door, and the food was as wonderful as the delightful man who delivered it. Other employees I had contact with in the clean and quiet hallways were happy, pleasant and respectful. The greatest compliment I can give is that I would recommend my mom stay there. A very good experience at a very nice place to stay.”

• Have to pay $22 for valet parking, the only choice for parking.

“This hotel is classy and refined. You will find the highest ceiling you can expect. Seems over 10 feet. It's location would be the best, if you have any occasion at the convention center which locates next to this hotel. The only gripe was the parking. The only choice was $22 valet, though it can be usual for downtown hotels. I would recommend this hotel for spacious and tidy rooms. Other amenities are pretty limited.”
