“Conveniently located near 3 major highways for getting N,S,E or W. Moderate sized rooms making sleep and kitchen area a little cramped. Unusual entrance and registration arrangement which is not too convenient for unloading. There is no protection from weather at entrance.” May 19, 2009 by
Emilia from Santa Rosa,CA
“I like the convenient location of the hotel, it is very near the freeways and located on Main Street which hosts a lot of restaurants. It is also close to downtown. The area is quiet and private the staff was very nice. I liked that it had an accessible gym, laundry facilities, a convenience store inside near the lobby, a spacious parking lot and appropriate security measures which restricted access late at night.” Apr 9, 2009 by
Leslie from Decatur,GA
“This hotel was good for a business traveler who is going to be spending a few days in the area on a budget. The full kitchen allows for cooking some meals which was nice. The room was quite small, yet has the essentials, but no frills. The walls were very thin and it is not uncommon to hear conversations and/or activity from the next room if you do not have the TV on. The hotel was clean and nicely kept, but maid service was once a week. Otherwise, this was a decent place to stay.” Nov 9, 2008 by
Lee from Greenfield,MA
“The room was great,it included a nice little kitchenette - and the perks - the gym, free movies, and free laundry - were much appreciated. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling in the Meriden CT area.” Nov 2, 2008 by

“Need to separate laundry away from exercise area so people who have to breath deeply on treadmill don't have to breath in detergent, softener fumes.” Aug 27, 2008 by
Jae from New York, NY
“The hotel was excellent, the staff and facilities were great.” Jun 6, 2008 by

“A tremendous value for those interested in basic accommodation. Perfect for business travelers.” Jun 3, 2008 by
Buddy from Riverdale, MD
“We arrived on a Friday night/Saturday 12:30 AM and couldn't get into the lobby (security good) because as we found out later the desk person was asleep in a room. A registered guest let us in. We waited over an hour for the desk person to show up and check us in. The hotel was very nice and we will stay again.” May 30, 2008 by
Damaso from Bronx, NY
“Nice hotel. Never stayed at an extended stay hotel before. The room was nice, full kitchen Everything worked. Climate control system worked great.” May 22, 2008 by
Jeff from Sandwich, MA
“It is located in a central area to restaurants, stores and such. The problem is that they have 1 person on to cover the desk maintenance and such and when our toilet backed up, we were given a plunger to take care of it ourselves. When this did not work, the front desk person came up with her child to try and fix it. When she could not, she told us, she would call a friend to have them come to see if they could fix it. If they couldn't, she would change our room. We ended up getting our room changed before the friend could come as we could not be without a working toilet.” May 22, 2008 by
Nicholas from Taneytown, MD
“Good location. Good price. Nice room with kitchenette and lap top connections. Inconvenient check-in as the space in front of door, is only for handicap. You have to cart luggage from parking lot. No maintenance on weekends. Choice was that I had to take care of bathroom issue, or pack up and move to another room. Lobby and entrance area lots of trash on floor and ground right outside front door.” May 1, 2008 by
Dalia from Birmingham, AL
“Good for a quick trip, room was nice and bed was comfortable, availability of a food room and a kitchen is good. Staff was slightly inexperienced. Overall the hotel met the expectation of a 2 star hotel and was really good for a short stay.” Mar 18, 2008 by
Robert from San Diego, CA
“Comfortable & quiet, no frills but well thought out.” Dec 13, 2007 by

“Candlewood Suites is lovely! They have nice, plush linens, a small stove, and DVD player with free movie rental. The entire place is always extremely clean and fresh. And the staff is always friendly.” Nov 20, 2007 by
Samantha from Newhaven, CT
“Hotel was just shy of perfection. Fitness center wasn't very impressive, but it's an amazing place to get away if you aim to just sleep in, and enjoy the little things. Rooms have kitchen.” Nov 17, 2007 by
Nicholas from Taneytown, MD
“Convenient, clean, adequate. Room was heavy with smoke odor. I purchased Fabreze and room deodorant and left the windows open for a day to air it out it was so bad. They didn't offer on phone when I called choice of smoking or non smoking rooms. So many places now are totally no smoking one forgets to ask. There is no spot to unload at entrance. Handicap spots are there.” Oct 25, 2007 by
Michelle from Tacoma, WA
“I was very impressed with this motel had all the amenities and free laundry, directed me to the local facilities, got me in the YMCA free while I was there.” Oct 9, 2007 by
Glorymae from Fredericksburg, VA
“I was very disappointed that a "suites hotel" had no rooms with 2 beds, and any extra blankets or pillows. We had 4 people for one room, and 2 people had to sleep on the floor with no blanket or pillow.” Oct 4, 2007 by
Rhonda from Stafford Springs, CT
“Overall, it was a very nice place. Open and spacious room. Great place to stay for anyone short or long-term. The kitchenette was awesome and well stocked with general cooking utensils. Great for families who need to save money by fixing meals in their room. Bed and pillows were excellent. Beautiful linens.” Sep 13, 2007 by
Bill from Oxford, PA
“I have no issues with this hotel.” Sep 9, 2007 by
Francisco from Kearny, NJ
“The location was excellent for me and my family because we were able to visit our relatives in Meriden and it wasn't too far away from the hotel. Having a small kitchenette was perfect to enjoy a quick breakfast in the room. Our stay was a short time, but I am sure that we will be staying again at the same location when we visit our relatives again.” Aug 16, 2007 by
Amy from Pittsville, MD
“It took longer than 20 minutes to check in. We booked suite, but could only sleep two in queen bed, son had to sleep on floor. No extra blankets provided. Everything was very clean, pantry feature nice (you go to a room downstairs and get what you want and pay at front desk), but pricey. Even after the extremely long check-in, the lady did not check us in correctly, and the maid came walking into our room without knocking at 8 a.m. The front desk apologized when we checked out. Nice location, easy to get to.” Jul 29, 2007 by
Wayne from Rocky Hill, CT
“The hotel is going through renovation as such you have to accept some form of interruption, however on the first night I was driven crazy by loud footsteps and constant tapping in the room above. I put up with it until 10:30 thinking it was apart and then went down and asked if the receptionist could ask then to be a bit quieter. She treated me like I was making the noise. The noise went quitter for 30 minutes and then started up again. I waited until 01:30 am and complained again and got treated the same. The noise finally stopped a bit after 02:30 am. Next morning there was no apologies from staff and it appears it was because it was the renovators laying carpet. I asked to be moved but they said that hotel was fully booked out. The next night was better but the attitude of some the staff was no better. Perhaps they should remember they are in a service industry. Have stayed there numerous times before under different staff with no problems.” Jul 1, 2007 by
Chris from Endicott, NY
“I was not surprised at the facility.” Jun 25, 2007 by
Karla from Middlebury, CT
“This hotel should definitely be more than 2 stars. I was told that they would be 3 stars if they had an onsite restaurant. Its a shame because the rooms are beautiful, the linens are nicer than usual, there's a full fridge and stove in every room, plus there's everything you need within a mile of the hotel itself. This hotel is very comfortable and surprisingly affordable.” Jun 22, 2007 by
Audrey from Woodbridge, NJ
“Easy to get to, the room was big and had the full kitchen which made it very convenient for meals.” Jun 13, 2007 by
Vivica from Somerset, NJ
“Very good for price.” May 10, 2007 by
Volkan from Great Neck, NY
“Overall, great place.” Jan 31, 2007 by

“Hotel is conveniently located off the exit. It has great amenities for those traveling and wanting that touch of hominess. Really appreciated the microwave popcorn when we got there. And the ability to reheat all my doggy bag food stuffs.” Dec 10, 2006 by
Andy from Barrington, RI
“Immediately after reserving the room, I called to request a crib for my 11 month old son- was told "not a problem." when I checked in, I inquired about the crib- same girl at the front desk whom I spoke to on the phone- was told "yes it should already be in the room". We went into our room, no crib. I inquired at the front desk. "That¿s strange", she said. "I told them to put the crib in there." she then called her manager. "Oh I¿m sorry" she said. "This hotel does not have cribs." lovely news at 10 o' clock at night with my son fast asleep on my shoulder. We ended up padding the floor with pillows and slept with "one eye open" with our 11 month old son in the bed with us so that he wouldn't fall off the bed. I had a poor experience with this hotel. The manager was friendly the next morning, but no one has come through with any form of reparation. I still expect to receive at least a portion of my charge back. Had they told me up front there were no cribs- it would be fine- I have a pack and play me would have brought? Bottom line- front desk staff did not check to verify that the hotel had cribs- and more importantly- no one in management countered the request! I will not bid 2* in Hartford Meriden area again.” Nov 21, 2006 by
Roy
“Very attractive outside, nice looking room with good layout, TV reception was very poor, no internet access and no breakfast. Nice staff at desk, extremely nice domestic staff.” Oct 18, 2006 by
Teresita from Bronx, NY
“I would be more than glad to recommend this hotel. In my opinion, it's so accessible to all. I love the ambiance.” Oct 3, 2006 by
Nancy from Palm Harbor, FL
“Nice clean room with small very clean kitchen and large fridge. Bathroom nice & clean. Most guests did not appear to be business travelers. Only weekly maid service but clean towels avail for exchange. No pool or spa, but small decent gym. Room was very nice but hotel amenities sparse. Room better than I expected. Convenient to Hwy I-91.” Aug 18, 2006 by
Janice from Williamsport, PA
“I was disappointed with the bathroom - the tub spigot fixture was loose and the shower head smelled of mildew. The room was small.” Aug 9, 2006 by
Kristopher from Fortville, IN
“The Meriden, CT, Candle wood Suites is conveniently located to I-91 and I-691 in the south Hartford area. I found the staff friendly, my room spacious and clean, and the amenities first rate. I look forward to returning!” Jul 17, 2006 by
Larry from Branford, CT
“It was ok.....not as nice as the Marriott or Homewood inn...” May 29, 2006 by

“Everything was fine with our room except for the fact that they did not have daily housekeeping.” Dec 14, 2005 by
Kate from Great Falls, VA
“Great, clean place for families.” Oct 15, 2005 by
Richard from Pomona, CA
“Great price for a very nice suite with a refrigerator. Unfortunately, I tried six pillows in two nights and each caused me neck pains. I ended up using a towel.” Oct 13, 2004 by
“I found Candlewood suites to be a good value, better for a multiple night stay than a one night visit. Rooms have a complete kitchen as well as space to have an office like situation. Laundry and exercise room are available, bright and easy to use. The staff was very helpful, both with in house needs as well as directions to surrounding places. I give it a thumbs up.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.
