“I reserved, and paid in full for a king deluxe room in July for this past weekend. This was to be part of a birthday surprise weekend for my fiancé. We arrived at the hotel at 3:30pm on Saturday, only to be told that there were no rooms available at the moment. They then informed us, very rudely and almost as if they found the whole situation to be funny, that they were unable to give us a time frame as to when a room would be available. The lobby area was full of guests waiting for rooms as well, so we decided to wait in the car. We had a reserved car coming to pick us up at 8:30pm to take us to the destination of the second portion to my birthday surprise. I went in and spoke with the front desk at 6:00pm to see if they were any closer to getting us a room. I explained to them again our situation, and asked if we were going to be in the room with enough time to shower and prepare for our night out. I was once again told that they could not give me that information, and they would call me as soon as our room was available. At 7:15pm we finally brought our belongings into the hotel, and were forced to forfeit our shower and get prepared for the night in the bathroom of the lobby. I decided to check one more time with the front desk at 8:20 to see if they made any headway into getting a room ready for us. The girl at the front desk then informed me that our room was available and that we should have received a phone call. No phone call was made to us, however. We ran our belongings up to the room only to realize that they had given us a lower grade room. We placed our belongings into the room because there was no time to complain at that point & rushed downstairs to meet the car. We were truly looking forward to an afternoon of romance & relaxation; enjoying all of the amenities that the hotel had to offer such as the pool, hot tub & the view from our room. Most upsetting to us, they never even offered an apology for the inconvenience that was caused. I am very disappointed and will NEVER waste my time booking a room with them again!” Jun 11, 2009 by

“Great hotel. We enjoyed our stay.” Oct 9, 2008 by

“Our stay at this hotel was excellent. We were visiting Memphis with our two children and this was really a top notch hotel. There is a pool and hot tub and a great Lake Gazebo that was fun for the kids. Also a high-tech weight room. Hotel is about 20 min. from downtown, but was a nice and safe location for us. Highly recommend to all types of travelers!” Sep 17, 2008 by

“This hotel was conveniently located and I was very pleased with the safety both indoors and on the premises. The rooms were gorgeously decorated and incredibly comfortable. I was fortunate to have a view of the ducks swimming in the pond outside my window. Customer service was definitely on point. This is my second stay here and it will not be my last!” Sep 17, 2008 by

“Loved this hotel and would stay here again, anytime!” Sep 4, 2008 by
Brittany from Scott, AR
“This hotel was absolutely beautiful. Just walking into it was amazing. It was really clean and great for a couple.” Sep 3, 2008 by
Doris from Nashville, TN
“Hotel had nice facilities except for a small roach in the shower, and there was a grease stain on the comforter. Parking is always a problem unless you want to pay $8.00 for valet parking, unused spaces are a distance away. We had a small problem reaching the second floor on the elevator.” Sep 2, 2008 by
Michael from Anchorage, AK
“The overall appearance of the hotel seemed very nice. However, rooms need additional sound proofing as noises from adjoining rooms and hallways can be heard.” Aug 30, 2008 by
Diane from Honolulu, HI
“I was extremely happy with the Memphis Hilton. The staff made me feel at home. The Rook's Nest restaurant had excellent and moderately priced food with an attentive and friendly staff. The fitness room was by far one of the best that I have seen in a hotel. It has treadmills, elliptical trainers and bicycles all with their own video monitor and headphone jack. Headphones were provided. My kudos to the hotel management!” Aug 29, 2008 by
Graylin from Gallatin, TN
“Everything good except bath tub was dirty and behind nightstand on floor was very dirty as I noticed when looking for a plug.” Aug 28, 2008 by
Vic from Asheville, NC
“Beautiful and comfortable. No free wireless perturbed me greatly. No easy receptacle for CPAP machine.” Aug 25, 2008 by
Reid from River Falls, WI
“Cool round hotel with fabulous windows and a great outdoor pool area. Little tricky getting to off of the main freeway exits but not bad.” Aug 25, 2008 by
Sr from New York, NY
“Very nice business hotel but it is a bit far from downtown.” Aug 22, 2008 by
Katheryn from Sparta, TN
“This was the best hotel stay I have ever had. Everything was perfect. The staff went over and beyond the call of duty. I hit a curb as I pulled into a parking spot and tore a hole in the side of the tire. Two employees stopped and changed my tire for me. It was hot, the trunk was full of stuff, etc. They were finished in about 10 minutes but it changed a disaster into a wonderful beginning of my visit.” Aug 21, 2008 by
Robert from Indianapolis, IN
“This was a very good hotel. Clean, guest friendly and the rooms were large and comfortable. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful.” Aug 21, 2008 by
Peter from Nashville, TN
“This is a first-class hotel with friendly staff and elegant surroundings. The rooms are elegant, and the lobby has a hip, upscale vibe. The one negative is that the carpet needs to be replaced throughout the hallways leading to the rooms. It's a stain on an otherwise unblemished canvas. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.” Aug 20, 2008 by
Tony from Murfreesboro, TN
“The hotel was in the heart of Memphis with easy access to parking. The room was clean and nice. Our only complaint was we had a child who wanted to swim. The indoor pool was so cold that we couldn't get in it. Aside from that, very nice and highly recommended.” Aug 11, 2008 by
Todd from Atlanta, GA
“I always enjoy staying at this hotel. The rooms are comfortable with great views. On this particular stay housekeeping did not come on the first day and when I brought it to their attention, they merely changed out the towels and pulled up the bed linens. Amenities (from the coffee service to the shampoo) were not replenished the two days that we were there.” Aug 11, 2008 by
Lynne from Mobile, AL
“I liked the hotel. However, the valet parking charge was deceptive. They have you sign a card for valet parking on entrance regardless of use. We did not use valet parking after 1st night. They charged us for valet parking even on the day of departure. They said it states that on the ticket. Fine print. They should disclose this up front. If some one helps you they expect a tip. Difficult to find entrance.” Aug 6, 2008 by
Adam from Enterprise, AL
“I got into my room and the toilet overflowed and my shower drained extremely slowly. This combined with the non-availability of the king size bed made me hope for some sort of compensation. A complimentary breakfast would have sufficed, yet nothing was done to let me know that the hotel staff was apologetic. I'm glad the toilet got fixed but the shower never did. Was just hoping for a little more.” Aug 6, 2008 by
Marshall from Houston, TX
“While the room was nice, housekeeping had left a fair bit of trash on the floor, in plain sight, and trash under the dresser. The oversize pillows (3' x 3') placed on the bed for appearance could be done away with, and some regular size usable pillows for sleeping added, the "sleeping pillows" needed to be discarded, they had the consistency of a very aged, & used pillow, while being to small also, even with using the two on the bed that were provided.” Aug 4, 2008 by
Lisa from Pearl, MS
“The room was a bit small and the bathroom smaller. But the hotel staff was very helpful, the location was central to everything we wanted to do (with a bit of driving) and it felt like a safe location which was key since I was a woman traveling alone with children. I would have liked a location that allowed us to walk to a few things, but the price and the general feel of the hotel made up for any extra driving we had to do.” Aug 1, 2008 by
Lisa from Houston, TX
“I will never stay here again. Nice bed-otherwise it stunk. 2 out of 4 elevators broken. The pool had tons of hair and grease floating in it. The stairways were disgusting. Even after I called 2 times - still didn't get my room cleaned one day - finally got towels at midnight. Called for a porter - after 45 mins, took my own stuff down and they said they never got a call. The waitress in the hotel restaurant kept telling us how she gave us the kids breakfast for free (it was on the menu that they did!) and we could show our appreciation in her tip! There were hairs in the bathtub and watermelon seeds on the carpet when we got there. 2 of the towels had stains on them. The room was muggy even when we set it on 65 degrees. I called on several of these and just got a "we're sorry -we'll fix that" and nothing happened. Ruined our vacation! Not sure where you get your ratings - this hotel stinks.” Jul 31, 2008 by
Lisa from Oklahoma City, OK
“The staff was very nice. The room was updated and very clean with a nice coffee maker. The hotel overlooks a water feature. The only complaint was that the hotel was kind of hard to reach from the highway.” Jul 31, 2008 by
Tina from Overland Park, KS
“The Hilton was a very nice hotel with a helpful and friendly staff. Safety is a primary concern when we travel, and the Hilton made us feel secure. Maid service came after 6:30 PM on one of the nights even after repeated calls. A large convention was in the hotel though. Pool area needs attention and updating. All and all a great stay.” Jul 31, 2008 by
Alex from Florence, AL
“Good rooms. Clean and comfortable. Bathroom (shower and tub are) was a little small. Sink and mirror are was nice, my wife had room to put all her stuff on the counter. Every room has a great view - the outside walls are all glass. The rooms are sort of conical shaped, so the layout is interesting, but it works. One of the restaurants (coffee bar) was not in operation. This was a disappointment when we looked for it the first morning. Other than that, the stay was excellent. Good location - easy access to Memphis and Germantown. Right next to 240 and Poplar, so you can take the freeway to downtown or the scenic route. Poplar goes right by the zoo on the way downtown, and straight through Germantown. Lots of good restaurants within 5 minutes of this hotel. Definitely recommend this hotel.” Jul 28, 2008 by
Terri from Garland, TX
“The location and staff was fantastic. It was central to everything we needed with lots of dining in the area. The hotel staff was on top of everything. The one downside was there were only four elevators for this almost 30 story hotel. If the elevators were geared to go to specific floors (i.e. 1-15 and 16-30 or even and odd) it might have gone a little smoother. Otherwise the ambience was great and we truly enjoyed our visit.” Jul 28, 2008 by
Lisa from Signal Mountain, TN
“This is the second time I have received this hotel on my trips to Memphis. This visit was not quite as bad as the one two years ago in January, but this is not the quality of service that I expect in a 3-star rating.” Jul 25, 2008 by
Kathleen from Watertown, WI
“Overall a great stay.” Jul 22, 2008 by
Judy from Farmerville, LA
“I like the hotel but my 2 biggest complaints were slow elevators and 3 out of 4 visits to the hotel I have had to wait for my room to be ready.” Jul 19, 2008 by
Ralph from Irwin, PA
“Pleasantly surprised at the luxury of the space. Staff was friendly and professional.” Jul 19, 2008 by
Cynthia from Nashville, TN
“Everything was top quality great location.” Jul 18, 2008 by
J from Norfolk, VA
“Beautiful, recently remodeled. Service from housekeeping and front desk was great. Would stay here again.” Jul 16, 2008 by
Ac from Farmerville, LA
“I stay at the Memphis Hilton for a dance convention. They have always had problems with getting everyone checked-in (4 pm check-in) before events begin at 5 pm, and we can't have late check-outs without paying extra even though our events are still going on until 4 pm. I've never met a friendly staff member except in the gift shop. They also tend to have issues with the air, as the lowest setting is 65, in which it never gets that cold.” Jul 15, 2008 by
William from Malakoff, TX
“I spoke to seven staff members of this hotel and only one of them had a smile. This was as I was checking out. There was no roll away bed for the room hen we arrived. The elevators were slow requiring use of the stairs. The stair cases looked as if none had cleaned them in a month. Extremely dirty. I would not stay at this hotel again.” Jul 15, 2008 by
Sharon from Wichita, KS
“The lobby is nice, the elevators were slow. The pool was okay, but difficult to get to. The rooms were small and only had one towel bar to hang towels on. The bathroom was tiny. The hotel only had rooms with one king bed or 2 double beds, no rooms with two queen size beds. There was no refrigerator in the room. Although we were on a non-smoking floor, the hallway and the room always smelled of smoke, or perhaps musty-ness.” Jul 14, 2008 by
Amy from Milwaukee, WY
“Very disappointed/expected more from a Hilton hotel, check in time was 3 pm, we arrived at 6:45 pm and there were no clean rooms available (at least 6 other families experienced similar situation at the time we were). An hour later still no availability, no apologizes given (appeared as if this is the normal). When we finally were able to get into our room, I wondered if the room was really cleaned because there was much room for improvement, the bathroom had a strong smell, the shower head was falling out of the wall, the AC unit made strange noises constantly, stayed 3 nights and each night needed to request add towels/washcloths (only given 3 towels and 2 washcloths for 4 people). Wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.” Jul 14, 2008 by
Dawn from Athens
“This hotel is not within walking distance of any of the attractions and it will cost you plenty to take a cab ride to anywhere but where your at. There is only 1 restaurant in the hotel with the beginning price starting at $12.95. I was there on business and took my 15 yrs old son along with limited expense money. We couldn't really enjoy much. Pool is only 4 feet deep at the deepest, no in room fridge and water from your room is $4.00 a bottle.” Jul 12, 2008 by
Elizabeth from Clarksville, TN
“The hotel met all our needs and expectations.” Jul 11, 2008 by
Adriana from Dallas, TX
“The hotel was awesome.” Jul 10, 2008 by
Becky from Elkins, AR
“Because of wrong directions from 2 staff members, we were very tired from driving. We get to the room and the toilet does not flush and there was no shampoo. Everything else was great! Very comfortable beds! Loved the decor of the room!” Jul 10, 2008 by
Carmen from Mayfield, KY
“The hotel was clean and appealing. The staff was somewhat friendly upon check-in, but not when confronted with issues.” Jul 10, 2008 by
Robin from Van Asltyne, TX
“Very pleasant place to stay for all travelers.” Jul 10, 2008 by
Bill from Urbana, IL
“The hotel has been recently remodeled. They did a good job and I was happy with the room.” Jul 9, 2008 by
Debby from Bartlesville, OK
“Horrible customer service overall. Room not ready at 6 p.m. due to housekeeping issues (but similar problem the night before per other customers), had to wait until 7 p.m. Had to ask to speak to a manager 3 times. Received free buffet (totally lackluster) breakfast after repeated complaints. Desk light burned out, 3 towels for 4 people, bathroom door didn't close.” Jul 9, 2008 by
C from Fort Sam Houston, TX
“It was great!” Jul 3, 2008 by
Davita from Los Angeles, CA
“Overall, my family's stay at the Hilton was a pleasant experience. We were immediately greeted at the door and upon checking in at the front desk. Our rooms were inviting and I enjoyed the accommodations. Our room was not cleaned for 2 days and we had notified the manager after the first occurrence. This was disappointing.” Jul 2, 2008 by
Kristen from Carterville, IL
“Great price for our purpose. If you want to see downtown Memphis, though, know that you'll have to drive. 10 miles on city streets or 20 miles on the interstate loop around town.”
