“Clean, fully equipped kitchen, great views of Manhattan from the room window. I would definitely recommend this hotel.” Oct 4, 2008 by
Marc
“Perfect location and nicer than expected.” Jun 26, 2008 by
Marilyn
“It is located only blocks away from PATH train, making it easy and convenient to go into NYC. Good hotel.” Jun 6, 2008 by
Ricky from New York, NY
“Overall its very happy with this hotel.” Apr 24, 2008 by
Pedro from Ashburn, VA
“Got a free room upgrade when they found they did not have the non-smoking basic room I asked initially. The upgraded room is great, spacious with a separated bedroom and living room and a small but convenient kitchen.” Apr 24, 2008 by
Larry from Swampscott, MA
“It was nice room, but as a caution to families. Otherwise, friendly staff, convenient location to the train to NYC and very clean. Overall it was a pleasant stay as my 10 year old found sleeping on the floor not so bad.” Mar 31, 2008 by
Jenny F. from Toronto, ON CA
“This was my second stay in the Candlewood Suites and this time was a lot better. Either because customer service wasn't a bad, as last time. Or because I knew what to expect.” Mar 27, 2008 by
Laurie from Astoria, NY
“The Candlewood Suites is a good hotel for business people and those wanting to go to New York. It lacks dining facilities, pool facilities and a romantic atmosphere for those who want a weekend away. The rooms are clean but are of lesser quality as far as appearance goes. The lack of maid service did not bother us but it may to some. If we were to return to New Jersey we may stay there again, although we would prefer more services.” Mar 25, 2008 by
Moran from Kiriat Yam IL
“The hotel is fine for the price you pay, meaning the room is big enough and it's really close to the path and they are very friendly. There was bad small in the room - I guess that if they had cleaning service each day it would make the difference.” Jan 3, 2008 by
Gerianne from Chino, CA
“I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived as I had read some unfavorable comments from previous visitors which I found to be untrue. This is not a luxurious hotel, but it is a place to stay with many features that make it desirable for practical minded travelers. It is conveniently located on the Jersey shoreline near the Path train station which takes you into Manhattan; the hotel provides shuttle service to the train station as well as to the mall etc. The hotel was very clean and comfortable. I will return my next visit.” Jan 1, 2008 by
Barbara from Baltimore, MD
“Since I hadn't stayed there before, I didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised with the hotel. Friendly staff and our room had a great view of the New York city skyline. Also liked that the room had a kitchen complete with a microwave (and microwave popcorn) and an automatic ice maker. The hotel did not have a restaurant or bar, but it was within walking distance to many restaurants, bars, the Newport mall, and the path train. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.” Dec 13, 2007 by
Jamie from Mesa, AZ
“This hotel was the worst I have ever stayed in. The staff was horrible and would not work with us and actually argued with us. First they gave us a smoking room and we were under the impression we were getting two beds. When we got to our room it was small and only one full size bed. We went downstairs and asked for a different room they refused and said that I booked a smoking room which I did not.” Nov 28, 2007 by
Badrinatha from Woodlandhills, CA
“I would not recommend this hotel to my friends. It's not worth the price.” Nov 8, 2007 by
Humayun from Fredericksburg, VA
“In this hotel basic things are not available for family stay just like food, ice, proper cooling and heating system and etc.” Nov 7, 2007 by
Jen from Somerville, MA
“Great amenities for a long weekend stay (fridge, kitchenette, microwave, desk), friendly staff. Location is relatively convenient, roughly 6 blocks to Pavonia PATH, though the walk was along a main road through a business area, so less foot population. But overall would definitely consider staying here again in the future.” Sep 14, 2007 by
Peng N. from Monrovia, CA
“Hotel staffs are excellent, polite and friendly.” Sep 6, 2007 by
Marie-Helene from Lachine, QC CA
“Situated between exchange place and Pavonia path subway stations, the candlewood suites is a very good alternative for someone who doesn't want to pay the exaggerated prices of Manhattan hotels. Safe neighborhood and very nice views of Manhattan if you walk on the pedestrian path along the Hudson.” Sep 5, 2007 by
Mandeep from Dallas, TX
“This hotel is one of the most terrible hotels I stayed in. Hotel staff was not friendly at all. Bathroom tub did not drain. When I came back to hotel in evening after spending long day in NYC. I found that bath tub has drainage block problem and there was no way I could have taken bath in there. When I contacted hotel staff about this problem they told me that they will get back to me in 10 minutes. I called them again after about 20 minutes. Then they again said same thing. After about an hour I went down to lobby and they told me that they can not help me with this. They told me to fix the bath tub drain problem myself! Finally they gave me a key to broken room where I and my wife had to take all my towels and other cloths and take bath and come back to my room again. Till this point it was bad but it even went worse. When I asked them that they did not have this room ready, they can not charge me full room rent. In lobby one staff (Clair) told me that they are going to give me 2000 Candlewood priority club points which are worth about $400. This was total lie and deceiving. In fact they give that many points anyway for signing up. I will never ever stay in candlewood suits again. They have no ethics. Staff is rude and hotel room does not have proper services.” Aug 22, 2007 by
Keith from Rockaway, NY
“The day staff of this hotel was very nice and accommodating. The night staff at approximately 2am was rude, condescending, and incredibly inefficient.” Jun 30, 2007 by
Ron from Woodland, CA
“This hotel was nicer than I expected. With 4 adults, suite layout w/kitchenette, dining/living w/sofa bed, and bedroom, was luxurious, considering same price in Manhattan would get you a broom closet. Convenient to path battery park and 33rd St Manhattan lines via shuttle at 30 min intervals, and short walk to light rail convenient for liberty state park and transfer to short shuttle to Ellis island/statue liberty ferry. We lucked out and had 8th floor room with view north up the Hudson. Very happy.” Jun 28, 2007 by
kim “Because there was a kitchen with the necessary and clean appliances,I could cook some dishes instead of going out to the restaurant and it was really good.” Jun 21, 2007 by
Charles from Darien, CT
“Overall I was satisfied and would use it again at the right price.” Jun 19, 2007 by
Rachel from Arlington, VA
“Clean. Great location. Convenient to Manhattan. Close to restaurants/bars. Take beautiful walk along the Hudson with romantic view of Manhattan skyline at the door step!” May 31, 2007 by
Lisa from Elk Grove, CA
“When we arrived, we asked for an upgrade to the room and they had no problem doing that. When we checked out we wanted to spend the day in New York City and they allowed us to keep our car in their parking lot until we left. Had a great experience Would definitely stay there again.” May 22, 2007 by
Shawn from Norton, MA
“Decent location, free parking and kitchenette are nice. Staff was just not helpful, and it took hours to get towels for the room. Probably won't stay there again.” May 18, 2007 by
Frank from North Marshfield, MA
“Overall, I feel we received adequate value for the rate paid.” Apr 26, 2007 by
Tony from Montreal, Canada
“The bad: at checkout the bill featured 3 billed nights for a 2-night stay. I still can't figure out how this could possibly have happened by accident. Definitely not a good thing¿s contacted the hotel management about this and nothing was done. The authorizations went away after a week, but the damage had been done. Don't go there unless you're using an American express card, or your work is paying in advance with their cc.” Apr 8, 2007 by
Charles S. from Manlius, NY
“Rebecca was excellent! Otherwise, rest of staff not helpful at all, ignored most simple requests. No coin when leaving to get out of parking lot. Rooms smelled bad, some smoky. Internet access not working in some rooms, please fix.” Jan 22, 2007 by
Jane from Middlefield, CT
“Great location, not as nice as the doubletree for same price during weekend. Lacks color in rooms and beds are nothing special but staff friendly.” Nov 23, 2006 by
Robin from Lansdale, PA
“It was very clean, the room spacious. The staff was courteous. New York was less than5 mins away. The price was great!” Nov 16, 2006 by
David
“The hotel was in a great location. Quiet, safe, and convenient. My wife and I were amazed how convenient it was to get from the hotel to all of the main areas in New York City. The hotel staff were wonderful. The put us onto a great restaurant, The South City Grille, which is just a short walk from the hotel. If we ever make it back, we will definitely stay their again.” Nov 1, 2006 by
Liz from Alpharetta, GA
“I chose jersey city, because it has a limited number of new suite style hotels. I traveled with 2 friends. We are all in our 30-40's and did not want to share a bed. Most suite rooms have 2 doubles and a sofa. The doubletree in no does, but candlewood did not! We had to go purchase two twin blow-up mattresses to sleep on. ” Sep 9, 2006 by
Rajesh from Durham, NC
“We reached around 3AM and had 2 rooms booked for 2 nights. Front desk responded back she could see only one room and the 2nd was for 2nd night only.. after showing the proof, little resistance, she finally checked again, realized and checked us in. Nice Kitchen, bathroom was stinking did not expect it from Candlewood.” Sep 7, 2006 by
Maryse from Montreal, QC CA
“The room ad one bed and was equipped with dishwasher, microwave and refrigerator. We added a bed for 30$ per night for the third person. There is no restaurant in the hotel. The room was fine for a 2 star, but the location of the hotel if you want to visit Manhattan is exceptional. The hotel is at 5 minute of walk to Lavonia path train station and the hotel also offer a shuttle to go there. Lavonia station is at 10 minutes of the 33rd avenue in Manhattan stop by path train. Compared to 30$ at least a day for Parking in New York, the hotel free parking is wonderful really appreciate my trip.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jun 19, 2006 by

“All in all great place to stay that is cheap, convenient and good quality. Nice easy access to Manhattan with the Path train.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Apr 24, 2006 by

“This was my first time in NJ and NYC so I knew nothing about getting around. The hotel staff gave us very good directions. It was convenient to the PATH (subway system to NYC) and the Light Rail (street car) system. Location - very nice, clean and safe neighborhood. A good price for clean and comfortable suite.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Mar 28, 2006 by

“This property is very close to train service to Manhattan and also offers free parking. The room I was assigned was a good size and the bed comfortable. The only negative aspect of my stay were the hotel staff. They had a "typical" NY/NJ attitude it seemed.” Nov 24, 2005 by
Doug from Kihei, HI
“Candlewood suites is a fairly new property with nicely equipped kitchenettes in each room. The building is quiet and secure. The location is a bit isolated but there is a free shopping shuttle and it is an 8 minute walk to the Path train. There is only weekly maid service, however, and the fitness room is meagerly equipped (no free weights). My room had large burns and stains in the carpet.” Oct 24, 2005 by
Michael from Jersey City, NJ
“It is located in a developing part of jersey city near my office are harbor side financial center. The hotel tends to cater for those staying for several days.” Sep 21, 2005 by
Jennifer from Harrisburg, PA
“When we entered the hotel, we received our room key, and after driving several hours were just happy to get to the room. Upon entering the room we noticed they gave us a handicap suite. I was very uncomfortable with this. It is out of respect. They were not even close to being booked, so they could have given us another room. What would have happened if someone in a wheelchair wanted to stay there that night. It's the same feeling as parking in a handicap spot. There may not be anyone there at that time, but they may come later. It's just not respectful or right. It was convenient to path. Very quiet. Free Parking.” Aug 4, 2005 by
Ken from Jersey City, NJ
“It was nice but the type of people that were there during my stay were less than desireable.” Jun 16, 2005 by
Brian from Milwaukee, WI
“The only thing lacking at this hotel is a swimming pool. But if you're visiting New York for pleasure you'll never miss it. You're 2 blocks away from a nice shopping mall, Casual and Fine Dining, and even closer to the Hudson River and a spectacular view of New York City's Manhattan IslandWhen traveling to New York City. Take the NY Ferry which is only about a 6-8 min walk from the Candlewood Suites. You're also close to the Train (called the PATH Train) which will take you to Liberty National Park where you can take a Ferry from the NJ side to the Statue of Liberty. You'll aviod the mile-long line that I encountered on the NY side.If you're visiting New York for pleasure, this hotel is best place to be. You get the view of New York that you can't see when you're actually in New York. It's less crowded, and you're a short Ferry ride into New York City.If you're visiting New York for business, then I'd suggest staying in the Hotel that's close to where you need to be cause driving a car around this area is something that you should leave to the professionals.” Jun 1, 2005 by
Marsha from Cincinnati, OH
“Candlewood was neat, clean, and has great amenities!” Jun 1, 2005 by
Mary from Marion, OH
“Would highly reccomend this hotel to anyone going to NYC. I plan on using this location for my future travels. Clean, Friendly Staff, Easy Access, Great Views, Great Price!” May 18, 2005 by
Edward from Lebanon, NH
“Walk able location to nearest subway (with service into Manhattan). Love the free high speed internet. As well as the free self parking -- other hotels in the area charge up to $15/day.” Apr 21, 2005 by
Howard from Cockeysville, MD
“Candlewood Suites is a nice alternative to staying in NYC...much more economical than city hotels, plus if you drive there is safe, free parking. Very convenient to the city thru the Path station 2 blocks away. Place is a bit noisy, though, with thin walls and our room was right above the light-rail line. However, I would stay there again. Kitchenette in the room is a bonus, and the neighborhood is very quiet and safe at night, with a great view of the Manhattan skyline.” Dec 16, 2004 by
Susan B. from Milwaukee “Hotel has a very accommodating staff. Also very knowledgable about how to get around via subway, bus, etc. The whole Candlewood Suites experience is a very pleasant one for a stay of a couple of days or more.” Dec 8, 2004 by
Roger F. from Milwaukee “One of the things they tell you about the Candlewood Suites in Jersey City is that the staff remembers your name, they did. Room was clean, one block to path train for world trade center. Very good experience. Bottom line, nice hotel'” Dec 2, 2004 by
William B. from Lutz “Very nice hotel!! The bonus is free parking! We had a really large room with a cooking stove and full size refrigerator. Also free laundry machines are available for your use! What more could you want!”
