• Liked the store that they had, and free laundry for those that needed it.
• Did not replace towels daily, you had to bring down to exchange.

“We were not told on check in that they only clean the rooms once a week. No problem our room was clean when we checked in, just would of been nice to be told they would not be making the bed and exchanging towels.”

• Clean rooms and public areas.
• Sheers on windows, no blinds or curtains to close.

“The hotel and room were clean, staff very polite. However, the room I stayed in had sheer curtains and decorative drapery panels that did not close. There was a light outside that shined in all night, and when getting dressed I felt exposed. Friend's room had blinds that could be closed.”

“This is strictly for single or married business travelers. According to the staff, all rooms have a single bed and no couch or other sleeping facilities. The hotel is in excellent condition, but the staff seemed very rigid and serious.”

• There are no restaurants in the nearby vicinity and no wireless router connects.

“Quality staff, rooms are adequate - older TV's- staff provides pizza on Wednesday evenings - you should not be a light sleeper because of the trains run by all night and will wake you each time. Nearby to Motorola research lab.”

“Very nice for the short time we stayed. You can borrow movies for no fee and I loved the little convenient store located inside the hotel. You can purchase anything and its charged to your room. Very nice.”

“The location is in a quiet suburb which is easier to find during the day. The facilities were very clean. Staff was friendly. Loved the store to purchase snacks. Our bed was comfortable and we loved the kitchenette. 1 bed was not enough room for a family, but we had room to bring sleeping bags. I would definitely stay at the Candlewood Suites again.”

• It was very convenient and the staff was friendly.
• Needs refurbishing badly!

“The hotel facilities could be nice. However, everything seemed worn and rundown. The bathroom cabinet doors felt greasy. We had 2 washcloths for 2 adults for 3 nights. I had to carry two dirty washcloths down to exchange them for clean ones. The desk is often un-staffed and you must call to get someone to assist you. That is particularly irritating when you are checking out. The pantry they maintain is nice and the prices are reasonable. That is handy when you don't feel like going to a grocery store for snacks.”

• The in-house convenience store was very helpful with children.
• The location was rather remote.

“Very good hotel for the extended stay traveler. The in-house convenience store was very handy as we have two young children. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, and the rooms were clean and well appointed. My only complaint was the full/queen bed, would have preferred king size. Will definitely visit again.”

• Did not fit our need for two adults and two children.

“Had to remove and pick up clean towels from front desk. No housekeeping unless you stay one week. Was not anywhere close to a 2 1/2 star hotel. Bathroom had hair on floors, pieces of toilet paper from previous guests. Could not have been cleaned. No rollaway beds could be purchased either. Only air mattress.”

• I liked the kitchenette including all appliances, dishes, and items needed to make/prepare my food.
• When I called to get directions, no one would answer the phone. I hung up after 10 minutes of trying.

“Despite my initial problems with getting directions, when I arrived the front desk person was polite and apologetic of no one answering when I called. The room was rather nice, and the bed was very comfortable. When I accidentally locked myself out of my room, the front desk person quickly gave me another room key. Overall I was happy with the room and with my stay.”

• Had to pay extra to have 2 beds in room instead of 1.

“Everything was great except for the fact that when we booked the room it didn't say that only 1 bed came with the price we paid. We have 2 small children and would have liked to have 2 beds instead of 1 but we would have had to pay $30 more per night for this feature. We were away from home for a family wedding and didn't want to spend more. We used sleeping bags for our girls instead. Other than that everything was very nice. Loved the full kitchen.”

“The Libertyville, IL Candlewood Suites made a convenient and comfortable home away from home while I remodeled my bathroom. A large room includes a clean and spacious bathroom with good water pressure in the shower, a comfortable bed with big fluffy pillows, and a kitchenette stocked with utensils and cooking necessities. The hotel offers what they call "the candlewood cupboard" where you can purchase snacks, packaged sandwiches, and beverages of many varieties at prices far below what I have come to expect at most hotels. For example a bag of pretzels and a can of soda was $1.00. Nice in a world where most hotels charge $2.75 for a 12 oz can of soda from their often broken vending machines. Also worth mentioning is the complimentary bag of microwave popcorn and a card for a free soda from the cupboard. The hotel staff is quite friendly and very accommodating. I highly recommend this hotel. While it may not have a pool it is quite a nice place whether on business or pleasure.”

• All the amenities for the long stay. Fridge, microwave, coffee dishwasher and dishes etc.
• The only drawback in my 5 day stay was finding the elevator. I was always turned around.

“The signage in the hall for the elevator was non existent. I would wish for clues a change in the carpet, a hanging arrow whatever.”

“When I arrived at this hotel, they did not have a room available for me. I was asked to go to another hotel, for which I was not given accurate directions. This other hotel was fine, but it was far away from my place of work.”

“The location of this hotel was great for our visit to the Grayslake Libertyville area. It is a newer hotel and up to date. Our problem was the room smelled (we think a curry odor). They had 3 air fresheners in the room but didn't help. Probably just made it worse. We left for the day and came back at 10 pm to find our room had never been cleaned. It was too late to complain. We were not told you had to request a cleaning. Otherwise it was ok. We only had one double bed and they did not have roll away beds available. So only room for 2 people to sleep.”

“The hotel was nice if there were only one or two people for a room. We had three and only one bed. When I asked for a room to accommodate us they said they would have to charge me for another room because they didn't have rollaway. My daughter ended up sleeping on the floor. Not very comfortable!”

• The availability of a cook top, microwave, stove, fridge and freezer is always a big plus while traveling.
• I was not aware that the hotel allowed pets, and as I am allergic to almost all animals, it was disconcerting to sleep where I knew I'd be sick.

“Overall the Candlewood Suites seems like an excellent business traveler hotel and a fair leisure traveler hotel. The staff was friendly, the free movie rentals were a nice plus and the rooms are comfortable.”

• Night attendant was very helpful and concerned for my family's comfort.
• The rooms at this hotel are single occupancy. Any more is a squeeze.

“I needed a room for me, the wife and 3 young kids. I expected a room with a king sized bed or 2 doubles which is typical. Candlewood Suites seemed like an even better option, as they have pull-out sleeper sofas in their rooms. Unfortunately, this location only has queen sized beds, and no sofas. My requests for a room that could accommodate us only resulted in apologies from the single clerk on duty when we arrived. We were able to get our infant into the pack-n-play, which was the plan all along. The overnight clerk was much more concerned for us, and provided extra blankets and bed covers, which I made into a "special bed" on the floor for our 3 year old. My wife, my 6 year old and I squeezed into the queen bed. It was tight, but we fit. This is a business hotel, meant to house commuting professionals. It is not appropriate for families, and is functional at best for couples. The best part of my experience was how eager to help the night attendant was. He went out of his way, and it was appreciated.”

• More than I expected! Very clean and quiet.
• Difficult to find. Even the policeman I stopped didn¿t know where it was.

• No way to ell if the couch was a fold-out, exorbitant cost to change to a room with a foldout.

“An unanticipated 2nd adult joined me for the trip, and I needed a fold-out couch. I was told my original room didn't have one, and that to upgrade to a foldout was $34. It should not cost that much to get the foldout couch, OR. All couches should be foldouts. Also, there was not a very good selection of breakfast items in the "Cupboard¿. But other than that it was very nice and convenient.”

• The bed was so close to the wall was hard to get out of and mattress was to soft.

“Over all a very nice hotel. We had to ask 2 times to get some spoons for our room since there was none in our kitchen stock. The mattress was to soft had back aches all 3 nights. The bed was to close to the wall to even get out on that side of it. The recliner was great wanted to bring it home with me. Was great to have real dishes to eat off of and the pot to cook with were great. and thanks for the pop corn.”
