Genevieve from Vancouver,Canada
“Hotel was OK - not exactly four star but I didn't expect much more for the price I paid in LA. Room was right behind the elevator which I had the pleasure of hearing all night. Would probably have returned to the hotel if they had given me a better room for my first visit. As it is, not in a hurry to go back.” Aug 23, 2009 by
Kerry from East Rockaway,NY
“funky, arty type hotel. While I found the staff friendly, it seemed everything besides the room was very high priced. Expensive overnight parking at $30. The public area rugs (elevators, etc) were stained and should be changed. Otherwise, it was a fairly good value.” Aug 10, 2009 by
Ron from Tucson,AZ
“Accommodations were great, the room was a little small, but very clean and up to date with all amenities. Staff went out of their way to help, the Dakota dining experience was fabulous!” Jul 26, 2009 by
Anna from Point Richmond,CA
“I've stayed at this hotel before so I decided to put a bid on Priceline and got a great deal. However during check-in the front desk clerk made a point of saying that I booked through a third party and that if I wanted to extend my stay they would not be able to match the rate. I knew this anyway but she was real snotty about letting me know. She gave me a very small room, I mean small as in comparable to rooms in NYC. The door to the bathroom could barely close without hitting the toilet! Their rooms and bathrooms could use some updating. I did extend my stay through Priceline and I had to inconveniently go down to the front desk to check-out then recheck-in. I let them know I was in a very small room so this time they moved me to a bigger room. The room was much better but the AC was not working. It wasn't getting cold but just made this loud buzzing sound. Maintenance came up and fussed with it for about 30 minutes while I worked on my laptop.I was extremely disappointed with my stay this time around. I've stayed at the cabana rooms overlooking the pool many many times. This time I felt I was treated very differently because I booked through a third party.” Jun 5, 2009 by
Earbin from California,CA
“Crappy hotel staff are just trying to be stars they could care less about the patrons!” Apr 3, 2009 by
Krisco from Ventura,CA
“Very convenient place to stay if you don't have a car and want to do the Hollywood tourist sites. Can walk to the Chinese and Kodak theaters and all the Walk of Fame sites. Parking is very expensive. Very noisy. Pool is cold and no hot tub but nice ambience. Loved the gas fireplaces outside at night.” Apr 2, 2009 by
Justin from Brooklyn,NY
“Good location and fine room, with modern decor. However there was a fee of $10 for WiFi access and $3.50 for coffee.” Mar 10, 2009 by
Di from Atascadero,CA
“Overall we enjoyed our stay. Room service menu was excellent. Customer service was prompt and excellent. Pool not the place to hang out with kids, more of a bar scene. Great place for singles but not for Families.” Feb 5, 2009 by
Larry from Crossville,TN
“It was a very nice hotel and convenient to everything. Just a walk across the street to a mall, lots of tourist stores and was very clean.” Feb 5, 2009 by
Steve from Laguna Beach,CA
“Updated old classic hotel breathes in new life by blending modern furniture and funky features.” Feb 2, 2009 by
from Beverly Hills,CA
“Standard room is definately NOT 4 star. Scracthed up furniture old small TV etc.” Jan 27, 2009 by
Sue from Murrita,CA
“We had an great stay. I would recommend this hotel to others for its upscale decor, location and courteous, helpful staff. I would come equipped with ear plugs next time as I am a light sleeper. The noise level from the street was minimal but noise from the hallway and showers etc was noticeable. The rooms have great contemporary decor but the bathrooms are a bit small. Also I noted that the usual bathroom toiletries given in a 4 star hotel were minimal here.” Jan 16, 2009 by
Ago from Fresno,CA
“The Roosevelt hotel reception desk had lots of attitude. They made a long line of people wait during check-in while a clerk who was doing nothing would not even make eye contact and call the next person in line. Our room was supposed to be non-smoking, but there was a very strong smell of smoke. The hotel did nothing to accommodate us.” Jan 11, 2009 by
Anne from Lompoc,CA
“When we arrived at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, we were greeted at valet parking with someone to take our bags to our room, throw away the trash from our car and park it. Excellent service and located 1 block from Hollywood and Highland.” Nov 20, 2008 by
Erik from San Francisco,CA
“The Roosevelt is worth the 3 1/2 star rating. They've done an excellent job in modernizing the place and it's worth a stay. Even though there were quite a lot of street tramps right around the front door, the Hotel inisde would not show that. It's historic and they do a great job of creating a pool party atmosphere. Great value for the first time Hollywood visitor!” Nov 17, 2008 by
Alicia from Vancouver,Canada
“This was a great hotel to stay at. Superb location. The hotel has such history, playing host to the first academy awards. It is an incredible oasis in an otherwise busy area. Very exclusive, very personalized. wonderful, helpful staff getting you in top restaurants without hesitation. A fabulous visit.” Nov 9, 2008 by
Betty. from Tulare,CA
“It was clean but outdated. The TV was old. The room and bathroom very small. The heater didn't work - they worked on it while we were in the room and finally moved us after 30 minutes of trying to get it to work. I wouldn't rate this a 4 star hotel.” Oct 21, 2008 by
Andy - Phoenix, AZ
“The Roosevelt provides a great jumping off point for visitors to Hollywood. If you are walking, there are plenty of great historic Hollywood places to see. Right across the street from the hotel is the famous Mann’s Chinese theater. Next door to that is the Kodak Theater. There is a mall less than a block away and the Metro has a stop there too. This is a really nice place with a great lounge and just a great atmosphere in general. But not the best place to stay if you have small children. Not that the hotel wasn’t kid friendly it’s just that you will have more fun without the kids.” Aug 25, 2008 by
Michelle from Los Osos, CA
“Great location if you're visiting Hollywood Blvd, great decor in public areas. However in the rooms, the decor is very minimal. The disco is a pool party that goes on until all hours and is very loud. There were exactly two hand towels, wash cloths and bath towels. The fewest of any hotel I've been in. No tub. Valet parking is $28/day before you add a tip. Don't let them upgrade your room to poolside. That means that you will be trying to sleep in the middle of more noise than you would hear on the on ramp to Wilshire Blvd.” Aug 17, 2008 by
Mike from North Las Vegas, NV
“Small, comfortable, stylish, and great location for sightseeing. Friendly staff and fun pool parties.” Aug 8, 2008 by
Ryan from Sugar Land, TX
“The Hollywood Roosevelt is simply the best hotel in the Hollywood area. It is next door to great shopping and dining and at night the hotel turns into a destination for a young/hip crowd.” Aug 5, 2008 by
Amy from Southlake, TX
“I think the staff and service is more on par with a 3 star hotel. The bathroom was terrible. Half a shower door? Not unique. Impractical & messy. Bad lighting in the bathroom and a toilet that would barely flush even when you hold the handle down the entire time. There was no flat sheet on the bed, so you sleep with your body directly next to the comforter that everyone else has touched unless you get one from housekeeping. We did, but they took it away each day that they made up the bed so I had to ask for one every day of our stay which was annoying.” Jul 9, 2008 by
Amanda from Canoga Park, CA
“The seating areas are amazing and the front bar gave great service. The room was nice but the TV made a buzzing noise and the AC would not turn off. Front Desk (it was a lady that to spoke to 3 times) failed to send someone to my room to fix it and it was almost impossible to sleep. Over all it is a nice hotel.” Mar 28, 2008 by
Warwick from Sylmar, CA
“Overall a very impressive updating of a landmark hotel but more attention could have been paid to the guestroom than the waiters T-shirts.” Mar 28, 2008 by
Kaye from Huntington Beach, CA
“We had an excellent experience with the Roosevelt Hotel. We wanted to be able to walk to Kodak, Miceli's, Chinese.” Mar 1, 2008 by
Virginia from Tehachapi, CA
“What a great, romantic location. It was very elegant with a Zen like atmosphere. Very modern in decor and definitely had the Hollywood attitude going in a good way. They were polite and very service based. Nice low-key check in. The rooms were furnished nicely with little extras like down bedding. We loved it.” Feb 22, 2008 by
Stephanie from Pleasanton, CA
“This hotel is very clean and classy. Lots of old charm replaced with trendiest but a nice stay. Extremely pricey drinks in bars, over expensive food and even charged for use of in room coffee which most hotels provide free. Service was good. Staff was friendly. Great location for tourists.” Jan 2, 2008 by
Rob from Cotati, CA
“The king room was the size of a closet. The bathroom was so small only 1 person could go in at a time. The bath towels were poor quality and frayed and the tub was all chipped up. The room walls were like paper, it was so noisy we barely slept. We heard the thumping of the night club music and we could hear every word our neighbors spoke. The steakhouse restaurant was great though, eat there but stay somewhere else.” Oct 14, 2007 by
Julie from Northfield, OH
“Hotel was in good location and was very clean. Rooms were on the smaller side, but very tidy. The staff was excellent and took care of all of our requests very quickly.” Oct 6, 2007 by
Heather from Aliso Viejo, CA
“This hotel is very Hollywood. The dim lighting and decor created a great atmosphere. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. We had an excellent (but expensive) breakfast from room service. The best part was being able to walk to the Hollywood Bowl.” Sep 24, 2007 by
Deb from Las Vegas, NV
“Great hotel for Hollywood location, suitable for business or couples. Staff was friendly and helpful.” Sep 1, 2007 by
Darin from Baltimore, MD
“Ice machine only one on 12th floor only. Elevators at least one broke down almost daily. There is $28 mandatory valet only parking --expensive. Maid all speak Spanish, language barrier, twice room not cleaned until after 4 pm and forgot to restock either soap, shampoo, toilet paper, vacuum floor, pen to write. Three incoming hang-up calls came to room, no one knew where I was staying so had to be mistakes. Very pricey restaurants, room service and valet parking daily at $28.” Aug 25, 2007 by
Diane from Dallas, TX
“Neither the staff, lobby area, restaurants nor pool were family friendly. We were going for location and price, but wish we'd gotten a different hotel.” Aug 23, 2007 by
Marcus &. from Kennesaw, GA
“We loved this hotel. You can't beat the location of you are visiting Hollywood. The rooms are really trendy. The restaurant was great as well! We will definitely stay here again.” Aug 20, 2007 by
Mark from Potomac, MD
“Overall, the hotel was excellent, although I think that the lobby lighting needs improvement as well as the air conditioning units in the rooms. The bathrooms are very small but the overall room was very comfortable. Parking is expensive at $28 a day, but there are alternatives such as the parking a block away at Hollywood and Highland for $10 a day.” Aug 16, 2007 by
Oystein from Trondheim, CA
“Very nice location. Do never order any mail and package to the hotel. They will return it. Valet parking 20 dollars. The elevators were broken several times during the stay. Only one camping chair in the room for two persons and that is difficult to combine with 4 stars. But after all the location is great and the lobby is great so it is o right.” Aug 13, 2007 by
Samantha from Quitman, AR
“I loved my stay at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood. It was the perfect location for all my sight seeing adventures in the local and surrounding areas. My room was always clean and neat when I returned to my room daily. I liked having the choice of fine dining or something more casual to choose from on site. The atmosphere was awesome (the lounging area). My favorite part of my stay was having a nightly drink from the Tropicana Bar while sitting at the pool's edge to decompress and people watch. Fantastic!” Jul 25, 2007 by
Elizabeth from Del Mar, CA
“The traditional areas of the hotel were beautiful. The upgrades nice, but not in keeping with the old style heritage. It attracted a 20 year old crowd, which made us feel out of place and not that comfortable at the nice pool. Staff was very efficient. Internal phone system did not work well. Room service and food was very good. Location is great for tourist. We would not want to stay there again, due to the large number of people in their 20's.” Jul 23, 2007 by
Jasmin from Nashua, NH
“Rooms were dark black and not properly lit up. Furniture was cheap. Bathroom was not practical at all (no counter space). Shower stall was black tile with black curtain - could not see anything. Carpet was stained. No pen/paper in the room. Lack of electrical outlets. Hotel location was good, and common areas appeared well maintained. Overall, the hotel is trying too hard to be something it is not.” Jul 9, 2007 by
Bruce from Hudson, WI
“To my surprise, we had a very nice 3 nights in the middle of Hollywood. My older teens even thought it was cool walking down Hollywood blvd on the stars. The hotel overall was a great experience. The front desk and lounge were dimly lit, but that is the style of the hotel. Lots of light in hallways and room. The restaurants were a little pricey along with the parking ($28) but you can come and go as you like. Workout room was nice and even had coffee and apples at the pool, mornings. I would stay there again.” Jun 24, 2007 by
Mark from Parkville, MO
“It was very nice and a great location. The staff was friendly and this would be a super place for the younger crowd (35 or less). We still had a great time but the pool crowd with the kids was a bit too much of a holly-wood party atmosphere for us. Overall though a great stay.” Jun 23, 2007 by
Hilary from Henderson, NV
“This hotel is extremely beautiful and in a great location. We were upgraded from a standard room to a junior suite that was very spacious. I've stayed in several hotels in LA, It's great for any kind of trip. Makes you feel like a Hollywood star Beware of the hip factor, though. Lots of young people.” Jun 23, 2007 by
Amir from Martinez, CA
“Very friendly staff, unusual environment, if happened, we will try it again” Jun 22, 2007 by
Jennifer from Lexington, MO
“I feel that some times if a hotel has a certain expectation, they expect you to adhere to that whether they live up to that expectation of not. I should be treated with the same respects. I feel like the only ones who did that were the valet crew. They were extra-ordinary. It's very disappointing. Oh yeah, when I asked the front desk when checking in if I could switch from a king to two double beds, he acted like it was a real inconvenience so I said never mind, we would make due, all 4 of us.” Jun 21, 2007 by
Jane from San Diego, CA
“After reading some reviews of this hotel, I figured that you wouldn't have still touted it as a luxury hotel for nothing. So off we went. Wrong. Downstairs is nothing like upstairs. Dark, it is. This supposedly historic hotel must have hired an Andy Warhol imposer to design the rooms - Ikea terrible knockoff style. I was awaken every time the loud burst of air was turned on. I have stayed in better rooms in chain motels. Can't park your car. Only valet parking. so don't forget anything in your room. This was a Father's day gift, that I had to apologize for!” Jun 18, 2007 by
Dwight from Aliso Viejo, CA
“The Roosevelt was not 4 stars but was comfortable. We were upgraded to a cabaņa room and party at the pool was very loud. A great place for young people but not so for those over 60. Great location, so those looking for a change from the norm this are your hotel. We would stay there again because it was an adventure.” Jun 17, 2007 by
Evie from Dallas, TX
“Absolutely fantastic! Our favorite place in all of California.” Jun 17, 2007 by
Doug from Bakersfield, CA
“This was one of the nicest hotels we've stayed at in recent memory. It was the place to be and be seen in Hollywood.” Jun 17, 2007 by
Leslie from Glendora, CA
“It was very dark and there was no indication of where to go for anything I needed. The television and radio did not work in the room. The wait staff in the restaurants, Tropicana bar and the bar were very unaccommodating and very snooty. My husband and I travel extensively and found this to be the worst experience in a hotel that we have ever had.” Jun 17, 2007 by
Robert M. from Henderson, NV
“This hotel was great! I especially enjoyed the pool. Drinks were a bit overpriced at dollars each. Reminds me of the Palms Resort in Las Vegas or the Hard Rock hotel in Vegas. Hot fun and trendy!”
