“I would not recommend this hotel. It was dirty and the staff was not friendly. When I told them my security [card] key did not work she said it just needed cleaning and she had not had a chance to clean it. For 3 days it did not work. There was a dirty cup on the air conditioner when we checked in and it was still there 3 days later. Patio was also dirty.” Mar 16, 2007 by

“The hotel is ok for an older hotel.” Feb 25, 2007 by
Stuart from San Antonio, TX
“Overall, the stay was good. Hotel is a little older and in need of repairs.” Jan 25, 2007 by
Joan from Rocklin, CA
“The hotel is old and worn. I would never stay there again.” Dec 11, 2006 by
William from Eugene, OR
“This hotel was clearly a higher 2.5 star hotel at one time. Although the rooms were in good condition, the hotel public spaces had declined and demonstrated a need for some upgrading. The location was good for my business in downtown Galveston, but is at the opposite end of the seawall area from the majority of the tourist and recreational activities. The neighborhood inland from the seawall at this location is "seedy."” Dec 10, 2006 by
Rosemary from Waupaca, WI
“The area and the hotel were run down. The pool was dry. Did have a nice continental breakfast. Not a bad hotel, but not a real nice one either.” Oct 5, 2006 by
Kathleen from Lake Charles, LA
“I go to Galveston at least 3 times a year. I have stayed there before and it was much cleaner in the past then it was my last visit. the elevators were disgusting.” Sep 20, 2006 by
Susie from Lafayette, LA
“In general, this hotel was pretty crummy. If not for its proximity to the beach, there were would be no reason to stay there. It was hot, except for in our room. In our room, the toilet didn't flush. The outer doors didn't work so that you had to walk around to the other side of the building to enter. Common areas were hot and smelled funky. I would not recommend this hotel.” Jul 6, 2006 by
Darla from Houma, LA
“It was O.K. for a short stay. The pool area was nothing special. The continental breakfast was dine in only which was not convenient for young children. It would have been nice to have brought breakfast up to the room for the kids. By the way we missed the breakfast two mornings in a row. The first morning our clock in the room read 10:03 Am and on the second morning the clock read 9:54 AM yet the breakfast room was already not accessible. The door to the room definitely did not form a tight seal. And the tub was alright for showering but not suitable for bathing the children.” Jun 8, 2006 by
Deloris from Amarillo, TX
“It needs some repair and remodeling but I suppose in Galveston it was a good buy. I really felt that we paid entirely too much for the room. The beds were broke down and not very comfortable.” Jun 6, 2006 by
Jen from Houston, TX
“This was a decent hotel for the money. A couple of friends were in town for the sandcastle competition and knew we would not be in the room very much. It served as a place to sleep and a place to shower. The bed was pretty comfortable and the shower was actually very nice! New shower head with massager, shower curtain that was designed to bow out allowing more room with no yucky shower curtain sticking to you while you're showering. The parking lot appeared safe. All in all, in comparison to the other hotels, it was a good bargain with a friendly staff and great location.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Apr 22, 2006 by

“We expect the toilet to flush and for there not to be sand on the bedspread. The beds should be of a better quality. The people were helpful. The view was good. We could see the gulf from our room, however; I would not like to stay there again. ” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Mar 7, 2006 by

“Great location but needs renovation and upgrading.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jan 12, 2006 by
Alecia Cairns from Diamondhead, MS
“This hotel was filthy. Only one elevator was working and it smelled like dirty baby diapers. The room was somewhat cleaner, but the bed was not very comfortable. Our view was the top of Wendy's next door instead of the Gulf of Mexico. We checked out the next morning and went to The Tremont House. I will not stay there again and I will not recommend it to anyone else.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.
