• The room was excellent. More like a small apartment.
• $12 extra per night to park. $10 extra for internet access.

“I thought the room was great and super comfortable. I would recommend it for a relaxing getaway. I am a business traveler and would not recommend it to other business travelers. I believe that hotels should cater to the needs of the guests and should always provide free parking and free internet access. I think it is sleazy to offer your rooms at what seems to be a reasonable price and somehow not mention the fact that you will actually be paying $22 more per night. Customer service should come first in any business. You should offer parking and internet free because it is the right thing to do. Why not offer the whole package, rather than try and "skim" a few extra dollars. La Quinta (along with most 2 stars) charge a third of the price and offer those items free. Surely the Double-Tree can as well. Wouldn't you agree?”

• Hotel staff was prompt and pleasant. Suites were large.
• Room service food was not worth ordering. Go out to eat or fix in suite kitchen.

“The size of the suite was generous and very clean. Everything worked and was well placed and in sight except electrical outlet. The front desk staff and other hotel employees were prompt and pleasant. I would stay again.”

• Great location.
• Had to pay for parking, no free wifi, no breakfast.

“Even though this is an expensive hotel, they nickel and dime you by forcing you to pay for parking, don't offer free wife, or breakfast, which even most 2 star hotels offer. On the plus side the rooms were enormous, clean, and well-appointed.”

• I liked that all the rooms had a full kitchen and living room.
• You had to pay for parking, and pay for local calls and pay for the newspaper they didn't tell you could refuse.

“I thought the room accommodations were great but to have to pay for parking, local phone calls, no free wireless internet, for a newspaper you had to refuse but none told you was an option and then no free bread.”

• I really liked everything the people there were very nice. And they took care of all my needs that¿s I needed to be taken care of.

“Doubletree inn was very nice and I really liked it. The room was very nice and set really nice for me. The day that I stayed there it was my birthday the people in the valet were very nice the people in room serve and the people at the front desk were really nice to me.”

• Huge rooms, very easy proximity to galleria and freeways.
• Rush hour traffic in galleria area is outrageous.

“Although the location was good, the doubletree near the galleria was lacking in a few areas, primarily the food and room service experience was poor. My expectations of food from any hotel are low, and they didn't meet my expectations. A cheese pizza is hard to mess up, and they did. The bill was incorrect, and the server was rude. Little things make a big impression, and the impression I have of this hotel is that they don't really get the hospitality industry.”

• The hotel staff was warm, friendly and accommodating.
• The decor was nice, but outdated. Internet access should be included in room cost.

“The doubletree guest suites in Houston were a very nice experience. From the 11th floor, we had a great view of the galleria area. Its central location was very helpful for shopping and dining. The suite was incredibly spacious and included a fully-functioning kitchen. Furnishings and decor are a throwback and could use updating, but not at all uncomfortable. The biggest inconvenience was the steep price for internet access. Definitely not a business traveler friendly feature. Overall, my stay was very pleasant, the staff was absolutely great and I would definitely consider the doubletree for a return trip.”

• The staff was courteous but the place needs some talc. They did say that the place will be going under major construction. Location is good.
• Housekeeping was poor at best. We did not get housekeeping for our first two days. We had to call the front desk for service.

“Clearly they are in transitional mode. Too many staff members telling other staff members how to do things. They had just had new software installed and no one knew how to work the printer for the computer. I would describe the front desk as non-professionals. They seemed confused and very informal.”

• Super location. I'm a runner and there is a quiet residential area 1 block away for running.
• Fire alarm (false) went off at 6 am! $11 a day for self parking.

“This hotel is a spectacular value! The size of the suite was enormous and was very comfortable (great pillows and bed). If you're looking for a suite hotel (no pun intended), this is an excellent value. The location is also prime, just a few blocks off 610 in the Galleria Area of Houston. There is a lovely quiet neighborhood just a block behind the hotel for those who enjoy an early morning run in the dark. I felt perfectly safe and comfortable running in this neighborhood in the heart of a big city.”

• The hotel is in a terrific location, and the decor of the suite is beautiful.
• Can't think of anything.

“The Doubletree Suites gives you excellent value of the money. The suites are roomy, the kitchen usable, and the beds are excellent. In particular, the decor of the hotel has been well done.”

“I was very surprised by the size of the suite. Self parking was OK, but you had to use the stairs because there was no elevator. Which made it difficult to transport your bags. It would have been nice to know in advance that it had a full kitchen.”

• Very Fancy. Unexpectedly got a 2 room suite! Way beyond my usual hotel stay!
• Tub and bathroom tile was somewhat worn.

“Given what I paid for this hotel, it was one great value. I'm not used to doormen, room service, and 2 room suites! It was extremely convenient for my business, as well. I only wish I could've stayed longer and had my family or a friend with me.”

• Great value for larger room, convenient for business, friendly staff, lots of room to work and nice pool.
• My only problem was cleanliness issues: cigar butt on balcony, yesterday's coffee grounds in coffee machine, spa did not work.

“Convenient, spacious, friendly and it has a nice pool and decent restaurant. There is plenty of room to work and entertain in the large living room and relax in the separate bedroom.”

“The property was nice. Nothing over the top, but adequate for a three star hotel. The suites are very well suited for long term stays (full kitchen with four burner stove, dishwasher and fridge).Staff was atrocious. Stuck us on a smoking floor.”

“The Doubletree Guest Suites Houston was a very nice place to stay. The rooms were very clean overall and very quiet. There were laundry facilities available which was nice even though we didn't need to use them. The front desk staff was not available much of the time, i.e., there was no answer most of the time when we called the front desk. The parking is $10 per day (up from $8 per day a few months ago), which I thought was excessive. Overall, we enjoyed staying there.”

• Great location-next to Galleria for great shopping and the Capital Grill for upscale dining. Their cafe & bar were great too!

“Great location! Friendly staff. Very nice suite w/ balcony. Clean, very comfortable and ready to be enjoyed. Safe self-parking or valet. Warm Chocolate cookies on check-in! We had drinks in their very cozy bar and an excellent breakfast buffet in the cafe. We walked to the Galleria for a wonderland of up-scale shopping. Just next door to a wonderful resturant, the Capital Grill. The swimming pool looked perfect, ready to be enjoyed but not at 50 degrees, although there was a nice hot tub there too. Everything was a pleasant experience and we hope to go there again!”

• The separate livingroom, nice bath¿
• Breakfast not included in price. A banana would have been fine with me.

“Only a mile from my appointment, next door to famous Galleria shopping, lovely room and appointments. Loved the separate living/bedroom/kitchen. The staff was accomodating and the shuttle drivers were very nice and drove me to a restaurant and when I was finished picked me up. This was complimentary ... of course you should always TIP!!!! It saved me time and money from renting a vehicle.”
