• Clean, comfortable beds. In-room kitchenette. DVD player.
• No housekeeping was ever done in the two days we were there.

“For the money this is the place to go. Beds were clean and comfortable and the rooms had kitchenettes. Room itself was cleaned and didn't creep me out wondering what type of nastiness had happened in there prior. Seemed like more of an apartment than a hotel room.”

• We did not expect and extended stay room--our daughter came in from college to meet us and had to sleep on the floor because all rooms have one bed.

“We stayed here during a weekend trip, and enjoyed it very much. The room was clean and comfortable; it had full cable TV and in-room coffee. The only downside was that we had business on the southeast side of town, and this hotel is on the far west side. Overall, a great experience.”

• The location was easy to get to and I could take a long walk without encountering much traffic.
• Room was not a suite. It was a basic room.

“I was expecting more from this room. It was a queen size bed that was very small by most standards. I did like the fact that TV had a DVD/VCR in it so we could watch movies. The recliner was not as comfortable as it could have been. The shower was nice. Warm and just the right height. Overall I liked the bathroom and that there was a microwave and refrigerator (although the ice maker went off every 10 minutes). Overall a 6 out of 10.”

• Extremely convenient, friendly staff, nice room.
• Somewhat small room, but kitchen was really nice.

“We really were impressed with the staff, facilities, and room. The room had a full kitchen with all the utensils needed for preparing meals in the room. Loved the movie library available and big bathroom and full size fridge and freezer with ice maker- no need to leave the room! Enjoyed our stay there.”

• The feeling of home and cleanliness.
• Would put ovens in the rooms.

“I loved this hotel! It will be the new place that I stay when traveling to Des Moines once a month. It is very cute. I love the prices in the cupboard; they don't try to take every penny that you have. It is very reasonable; they know people have to travel. Customer service from staff, priceless! Thanks for a great stay and many more to come.”

• Kitchen facilities. The Honors grocery store.
• No pool or sauna.

“Thirty minutes after I arrived, the office called to see if everything was ok, the work out center, laundry, honors grocery store. How trusting! News papers every am. Three quarters kitchen. Full size refrigerator with ice maker. Close to shopping and restaurants. I will definitely stay there again. I have already recommended staying there to my friends.”

• Very friendly helpful staff. It was very nice to have a small convenience store in the hotel.
• They only had rooms with one bed. We could not get two beds.

“This was a very nice friendly clean hotel. It had many conveniences such as laundry facilities, exercise room, convenience store inside the hotel, and free movie check out. The room was nice and large.”

• The hotel is near the interstate which made it easy to get to places.
• There is no pool. You only get a queen size bed which makes traveling with children difficult. They were unwilling to give us a room with a pull out.

“This motel would be much better if it was child friendly. If you are traveling for business it would be fine. It is nice they have a stove and refrigerator. It has no pool and the rooms do not allow for children.”

• The amenities: kitchen, "cupboard" (with food available for supper and breakfast), plus the honor system and the helpfulness of the staff.
• Could use mirror above table (for women putting on make-up); also it would be nice to have a luggage rack available.

“My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Candlewood Suites, West Des Moines. We were especially pleased with the kitchen and extra amenities since it was our anniversary when we arrived but we wanted to stay close by the motel since my husband was not feeling well.”

• The bed was very comfortable and it was helpful to have the kitchen.
• In the past I have been able to count on having 2 beds in the room.

“It was decent but with small children I was counting on 2 beds and a pool. For the business travelers the hotel obviously focuses on, it would be wonderful.”

• Wonderful rooms, staff, locations, and quietness plus a very comfortable bed and linens only if it had a pool I would not go home.
• Lack of pool and a place to eat in the hotel would put it over the top, but there are a lot of eateries near by.

“Great place to escape to. This place has a lot to offer a older crowd not really for a family with young children who like to go swimming or just need to burn off some energy.”

• Be aware! This hotel only has rooms with one bed in it! Will not accommodate 4 people!

“I have never been in a hotel that only has one bed per room, no pull out sofas, nothing. My children had to sleep on the floor, we were lucky enough to locate sleeping bags from family that lived in town. Do not select 2 star hotels in west des Moines!”

“While I did enjoy my stay at Candlewood Suites, I didn't feel it was a good value for the price I paid ($105+). It was a nice hotel and I wouldn't mind staying there again, but for a more reasonable price.”

“I think the hotel is great for extended stay and no amenities. They do not have staff over the weekend, they do not come in and make your bed and freshen up like a normal hotel. It's a wonderful hotel. No double beds available. This is only a one queen or 1 king room place, so if there's more than 2 people or if you have kids, forget it.”

• The rooms were very clean and modern. Rooms were quiet with not much noise heard from other guests, elevators, etc.

• suite with kitchenette is handy
• you can only get one queen size bed in any room

“The kitchennette is nice for us, as we're on the road working, and can buy groceries instead of eating out every meal. But with only one queen size bed available per room, if two people are traveling together, and don't want to sleep together, you have to rent two rooms.”

• Loved it! Pantry great & borrowing movies was fun!
• Wish it had a pool

“I was thrilled when we got the Candlewood Suites! After having a little struggle to find it (missed our first turnoff) we pulled in and were promptly checked in. We needed another pillow and blanket and they quicky replied. We also needed fresh towels the next morning and they got them right away. We "borrowed" a movie the 2nd nite we stayed and the kids got a kick of of it. I'd definitely stay again - especially for the price!”

• It was clean, comfortable, and affordable. I especially enjoyed the "suite" part - the kitchen, etc.
• There was nothing that I did not like.

“This hotel supplies clean, comfortable rooms at an affordable price. The benefits are enhanced by the addition of a small kitchen with a refrigerator and stove, as well as a desk and internet hookups for office work.”
