• The bed was very comfortable and it was helpful to have the kitchen.
• In the past I have been able to count on having 2 beds in the room.

“It was decent but with small children I was counting on 2 beds and a pool. For the business travelers the hotel obviously focuses on, it would be wonderful.”

• Wonderful rooms, staff, locations, and quietness plus a very comfortable bed and linens only if it had a pool I would not go home.
• Lack of pool and a place to eat in the hotel would put it over the top, but there are a lot of eateries near by.

“Great place to escape to. This place has a lot to offer a older crowd not really for a family with young children who like to go swimming or just need to burn off some energy.”

• Be aware! This hotel only has rooms with one bed in it! Will not accommodate 4 people!

“I have never been in a hotel that only has one bed per room, no pull out sofas, nothing. My children had to sleep on the floor, we were lucky enough to locate sleeping bags from family that lived in town. Do not select 2 star hotels in west des Moines!”

• The room has a kitchenette; full size fridge, sink, microwave, etc.. Good shower. Nice room layout. Very quiet.
• Does not have daily maid service.

“I thought the late check-in arrangements were very convenient. The room was very clean and pleasant. Although I did not have time, the movie check-out library was a nice extra to have access to. I also thought the small "convenience store" was a good idea too. I plan to stay here again some day!”

• The decor was a bit outdated.

“While I did enjoy my stay at Candlewood Suites, I didn't feel it was a good value for the price I paid ($105+). It was a nice hotel and I wouldn't mind staying there again, but for a more reasonable price.”

• Can't really call it a hotel, no maid service.

“I think the hotel is great for extended stay and no amenities. They do not have staff over the weekend, they do not come in and make your bed and freshen up like a normal hotel. It's a wonderful hotel. No double beds available. This is only a one queen or 1 king room place, so if there's more than 2 people or if you have kids, forget it.”

• The rooms were very clean and modern. Rooms were quiet with not much noise heard from other guests, elevators, etc.

“I would strongly recommend this hotel to any extended stay travelers. The rooms are quite, the staff are friendly and helpful and you just can't beat the price.”

• No one on duty after 11 or 12 at night. Key wouldn't work for front door. No pool or hot tub.

• suite with kitchenette is handy
• you can only get one queen size bed in any room

“The kitchennette is nice for us, as we're on the road working, and can buy groceries instead of eating out every meal. But with only one queen size bed available per room, if two people are traveling together, and don't want to sleep together, you have to rent two rooms.”

• Loved it! Pantry great & borrowing movies was fun!
• Wish it had a pool

“I was thrilled when we got the Candlewood Suites! After having a little struggle to find it (missed our first turnoff) we pulled in and were promptly checked in. We needed another pillow and blanket and they quicky replied. We also needed fresh towels the next morning and they got them right away. We "borrowed" a movie the 2nd nite we stayed and the kids got a kick of of it. I'd definitely stay again - especially for the price!”

• It was clean, comfortable, and affordable. I especially enjoyed the "suite" part - the kitchen, etc.
• There was nothing that I did not like.

• This hotel had very nice staff and offered free movies and music.
• The only things that I missed were a pool and hottub.

“Candlewood Suites I would highly recommend for someone who is looking for a home away from home for a couple of days. There is a kitchen area, VCR, and free high speed internet access in the room. An exercise room and free laundry area is located on the first floor. The front desk also has free movies and music CDs for your enjoyment while you stay. The staff is also friendly enough to tell you of local restaurants according to your preference. The only amenities missing are a swimming pool and a hottub. All in all, a great place to stay.”

• In room refrigerator with kitchen area, large bathroom, comfortable recliner, large room, clean and fresh.
• Ice maker broke in refrigerator, but front desk did provide us with ice.

“Front desk attendant friendly and helpful. The room was clean, fresh smelling and was large. We liked having a kitchen area in the room. The bathroom was large. The only thing that might have been bad was that we did not know that there was only one bed. The only problem other than a broken icemaker was the fact that there was only one bed. Fortunately, one of us were able to sleep in the recliner.”

• lousy toilets!!

“Overall, this was an average room/suite for the quality rating. In its favor, it was quiet, away from highway noise, and well placed in relation to stores, restaurants, etc. Staff very friendly & helpful. But for a newer facility, the plumbing was a very bad experience. The toilet was very easily stopped up, a great disappointment. Having a fridge & burners was good, though.”

• We got so much more than we expected. We wish we would have had more time to enjoy the accommodations.
• A little hard to find since it was overshadowed by the neighboring Marriott.

• Queen size bed was the only downside

“Should be rated better. I thought this hotel was too nice to be 2 Star... Very nice staff, good size rooms, nice bed, free internet available, free laundry, nice exercise area, movies and cds available for free check out, full kitchen(dishes included), and honor system store" including food, drinks, and disposables. Also easy mall access if you like that sort of thing.”

“WE had four people and wanted a double room. The girl told us they were only singles with queen beds. Well rather than splitting up are party at two different hotels we asked if we could get a second room at the rate we paid. The girl told us there was no way she could do that. We asked if there was someone she, or we could call? We were told no! So we got a second room down the street. Not the end of the world,but the hotel did not even have a third of the rooms full.So the next time I stay in Des Moines I may not use.”

“I was very impressed with the hotel you found for me. It was more than I had expected. The room was large and roomy. It was completely handicap accessible with kitchenette and computer hook ups. The hotel had easy access to the interstate and was close to the shopping areas. Thank you for the fine job you have done for me whenever I needed a place to stay. I recommend your service to all of my friends and family when they are going to travel.”

“When I booked this motel room I expected to be able to have 2 beds and when we arrived they only had one bed in every room. It would be nice to know before hand if the motels have one bed or more then one bed before a person gets charged. It was an inconvenience.”
