“We loved the location near town and on the lake. The room was small and our TV didn't work. It was fixed, but after two requests. The restaurant was overpriced for breakfast, we thought.”

• Everyone who worked there was more than courteous and helpful.
• Parking garage experience was a nightmare - hard to find; dense fog-like dust making it hard to find car and breathe.

“Convenient location, yet we were frustrated, not being able to find the Wyndham, where we had made reservations. We finally called them and heard the name "Hilton" mentioned, to which my husband replied, "did you used to be called the Wyndham hotel?" after a long drive to get there, we were upset at not finding the hotel we were looking for.”

• It is being remodeled and is very up to date.
• It needs plasma TVs.

“It was excellent value. It just changed over to a Hilton. They were still painting the lobby and changing everything around. The views and location are great and the rooms are like brand new.”

“We were very worried after reading all the negative reviews about this hotel. We were pleasantly surprised! We absolutely loved this hotel! The room was newly renovated, the decor was beautiful, the location excellent. The staff was very nice and helpful. We asked for a room with a king size bed and they even gave us a room with a view on the lake! Great stay at this hotel!”

• The location was great and we have been very fortunate to get a window view of the lake, beautiful.
• One of the desk clerks was rather short with me when I offer to pay my parking fee with my ATM card instead of putting it on the cc already used.

“We have stayed at this hotel on several occasions and find it to be very comfortable and relaxing. We like to walk to the lake and enjoy the scenery.”

• We were given keys to an occupied room.

“The hotel is under some renovation, but they have tried to keep everything up and running. Some rooms required you to walk through construction areas. The room we stayed in was very comfortable. More attention to the little details would have been nice, e.g. Curtains not hooked up completely to the rods, beautifully decorated bathroom but with an old tub and no ability to put the plug in the sink-little things but when you look at how nice the room is, they stand out. Would not hesitate to stay there.”

“We were more than pleasantly surprised with the Wyndham. Our room had a fantastic view of the lake. We had comfortable beds, great pillows. The location of the hotel is perfect. It's across from the waterfront and a few blocks from the Church Street Marketplace. The staff of the hotel was all wonderful. They were friendly, helpful and very accommodating. My kids also loved the pool! We'd highly recommend it!”

• Construction, debris, dirt, dust, chemical smells.

“The hotel is under construction, and will be a Hilton when it is complete. It was very dusty and very smelly. If you are sensitive to chemical smells, you might have a problem. Some workers came in and did work in our room while we were out one of the days of our stay. The hotel staff apologized, and gave us a free breakfast. I have asthma, and had a few attacks while staying there. The staff was very nice and friendly, and made every effort to compensate for the conditions. I would definitely go back when construction is over!”

• The indoor pool was cold and the Jacuzzi did not work.

“The indoor pool was cold. The Jacuzzi wasn't even like warm and the jets didn't work. They are switching to Hilton, so there is a lot of construction in the lobby area and in the hallways. They only have one computer for free internet use. Definitely will not stay here again. Does not deserve a 3-star rating.”

• Small details mostly: under furniture not swept, toilet seat not tight, drain on shower slow to drain.

“Despite being under construction, we had a pleasant stay. The rooms are very comfortably decorated with excellent views right on Lake Champlain. The historical downtown area is very close on foot. The pool and sauna is excellent. Mattress was firm and high thread count sheets. Details mentioned above may have been to staff attention on the construction.”

“We should have been informed that this location was under renovation before our money was taken. Yes the price was very low for a nice hotel but our safety was put at risk. We saw a guest injured at the parking garage door by the construction workers moving drywall into the building. We had just missed the same thing earlier as they broke a sheet in the doorway and it went all over the walkway.”

“All in all, not bad at the price. However, the construction was intrusive and there was an additional charge for the parking garage which seems unusual. Considering the inconvenience of the construction, I wouldn't have charged for parking.”

• The room and view were both spectacular.
• The lobby, hallways, and other public areas were in shambles from the remodeling in progress.

“This was the second time that I stayed at this hotel. Last visit, I was given an older (not yet remodeled) room with an unattractive view. This visit, I was given a newly remodeled room with a view of the waterfront. The difference was amazing! Even though the lobby and hallways were under construction, I would rate my experience as excellent due to the beautiful room and the wonderful staff. I would stay again.”

“The hotel was in the middle of a major renovation and not suitable for guests in many areas. There was no breakfast bar. The finished restaurant was boring. Parking was a pain. The room key didn't operate properly and maintenance had to repair after we left. The corridor leading to the indoor pool was strange and the entrance threshold was a tripping hazard. The cooling system blew air directly on the head of the bed while sleeping. Drafty. The carpet by the window was wet.”

• The room was freshly renovated, with comfortable bedding and Bathroom.
• The renovations on the Hotel common space is a disaster. Wires and construction equipment everywhere! This will be fixed in due time. I am sure.

“Freshly painted and new furnishings, however the smell of paint was quite strong. The smell in the hallway was even worse. After the renovation is complete, this hotel will be Great. The location is perfect, and the furnishings in the rooms are quite nice for a hotel room.”

• The location in town is great nearby many cafes and bars.
• The hotel was under major construction.

“It's hard to really review the hotel because over half of it wasn't open. The whole building is under construction. The lobby was closed off as were several areas of the building. The front driveway was all dug up and parking to check in was very limited. There was constant noise during the day because of the construction. I was there for a wedding because the reception was being held there. The bride and groom were told there wouldn't be any construction near the time of the event, but as the groom put it the place looked like a "war zone." The hotel should have not even been open for service because of the shape it was in.”

“This hotel would be extremely nice if it weren't for the construction going on everywhere inside. It was extremely confusing and time consuming to even find the way to your room, and once there, to find the way out again. Thank god there was no emergency because I had my doubts as to whether I would be able to find my way out.”

“It is very hard to enjoy a hotel that is undergoing major renovation and construction. The manager put us on a floor where a lot of work was going on. I mean, there was dust and smells. The next day, I requested to be moved upstairs. That was better. There was a lot less work going on there.”

• The mid-town location is great, with a nice view of lake Champlain.
• Mold in the bathroom, the exercise room is small, fee for parking.

“The workers and work areas made it a bit inconvenient to navigate the public areas, the "front desk" was actually a couple of tables set up in a far away room somewhere. Since I only stayed one night, however, it was not really an issue. The best thing is the location. It is close to the center of town where all the action is and also overlooks the lake. There is a town-owned parking garage on the premises (with a $5/day fee). I did luck out with a room on the 6th floor overlooking the lake, which was a bonus (I have a feeling there were probably not many rooms available due to construction). My only issues were with the mold in the bathroom (inexcusable), the tiny exercise room with just a few pieces of equipment, and the small pool with rooms positioned poolside which seemed out of place (and a bit annoying) in this hotel. This was my second trip to this hotel, and I would definitely try it again after renovations are complete.”

“Tale of two hotels: the staffing was very friendly and accommodating. The view from the room was incredible. However, the hotel was undergoing major renovations. The entire lobby and common areas were torn up and very dusty/dirty (there was no floor in the lobby, just rough concrete). Noisy work on the hotel began at 8 am in the morning. Our room, which had not yet been renovated showed considerable wear and housekeeping, was below par. hopefully hotel will be improved once renovations are complete. Right now, it is very questionable whether or not the hotel should even be open due to the level of construction going on.”

“This hotel was under renovation, which we were not aware of. The room we were in the 1st night was awful: way too small, had an extension cord running under the carpet, and had a dirty bedspread. The staff was not all helpful. The room the 2nd night was dirty: had not been vacuumed properly. I understand the hotel was being fixed, but this was awful. ”

• Hotel construction was going on and woke us up early in the morning.

“The location was convenient. The hotel is undergoing some construction and because of this the hallways are covered in plastic and you are likely to wake up early in the morning due to the sound of hammers banging away. Parking is also not included in the price. Overall, the hotel is good for a short stay but if you are looking for luxury look somewhere else.”

“This hotel is wonderfully located in downtown Burlington on the waterfront. The staff bent over backwards to make us feel welcome. The hotel is currently being renovated, and there are some inconveniences. If you are taking an early flight, the shuttle is not available. However, cab service is available.”

“They are undergoing renovations and I awoke to the sound of a drill shortly after 7am. They said at check-in they were doing construction, but would not start until 8. Parking for the hotel is in an attached municipal garage. This was an additional fee I was not expecting to have. We had a late check in and early check out - so we did not really use much of the hotel except our room which was just okay. Maybe after the renovation it will have more comfy beds and nicer furnishings. All was dated and worn.”

“Very well located. Hotel under remodeling (common area, lobby, hallways, etc.). Clean and clear. Bathroom needs minor remodeling and minor reparations (light bulbs to be changed in bathroom and room entrance) water temperature varying (we had a cold shower) but appeared to be fixed the next day.”

“The Wyndham is located on perhaps the best piece of real estate in Burlington. Although it was halfway thru a remodeling phase on my visit in March 2007, the accommodations did not suffer from the work-in-progress. Dramatic views of Lake Champlain. I was a little annoyed that $5.50 was automatically added to my bill for parking charges, effectively raising the cost of the room 10% for me. The restaurant had great local food such as the blueberry pancakes with real Vermont maple syrup and many other similar treats. I stayed for three nights but did not have a chance to check out the pool. It seems quite convenient to downtown and many of the guests were UVM students which has its downsides in terms of noise.”
