• I liked the view from the window. The front desk had an upgrade and I got a corner room! It wasn't very expensive and I had a great time!
• There wasn't anything I didn't like. There was bottle water for $5. I thought the bar was a little over priced.

“I really enjoyed my stay. It was right in the midst of everything I wanted to do and I didn't get lost. The staff was helpful and friendly and eager to go out of their way for you. I enjoyed it and would stay there again!”

• The king size bed was so comfortable and the bedding was soft.
• The elevator was freezing cold.

• Having a swimming pool, good exercise room, and mini store in the lobby.
• The room was a bit small, if you have more than one person.

• Was given a corner room which was larger with a nice view.
• Housekeeping often forgot to restock some items.

“Location is fantastic for downtown, bus and rail access right outside entrance. Sleep inducing mattress and pillows. Windows blocked out most of busy downtown traffic noise beautifully. Would highly recommend this hotel for anyone traveling to downtown Chicago.”

• I loved the bed! It was wonderful! It was so comfortable! After a long day of walking and shopping, the bed allowed me to fall asleep instantly!
• The room we received was a smoking room (we had requested non-smoking). There was no non-smoking rooms clean, so we had to wait 2 hours.

“The hotel was fabulous! Other than receiving a smoking room when we requested a non-smoking room, everything was wonderful! The hotel is located in a excellent spot, convenient to Magnificent Mile. All of the employees were very nice and helpful. When we finally got into a non-smoking room (2 hours wait), we were pleased. The room was very clean and the bed was so comfortable!”

• Good price for downtown hotel in nice-looking hotel.
• Room smelled like vomit, late-night hallway noise.

“This hotel has highs and lows and with better management could be an excellent hotel. Unfortunately, the hotel must host a lot of partying people as late-night party returners are loud, our room smelled like semi-cleaned vomit (but, still vomit), our check-in was slightly delayed (at 4 p.m.).”

• Had to pay $12 to park car for 10 minutes while checking in.

“The staff was very professional. Rooms were available when we arrived. The hotel was very clean. We did have a problem with the television working, but the staff came to pick it up and returned with another. This was an excellent pick.”

• 23rd floor noisy due to air-condition direct above our room.

“Great hotel when staying downtown Chicago. Make sure not to hit 23rd floor next to the elevators. The air-conditioner is right above and the bed will shake in the night. The view is great and overall a really good hotel.”

• There was a refrigerator and microwave in each room.
• The computerized doors would occasionally go on the fritz.

“This is a great hotel, the subway stop is right outside the door, Nordstrom and the magnificent mile starts at the corner, there are endless restaurants and shops. Inside the hotel is a business center open to all with 3 computers, a Xerox machine and a fax machine. The staff is incredibly pleasant, and the rooms seem to be totally soundproofed. We were lucky this is still rated a 2 1/2 star.”

• Our room was excellent. Two queen beds, new mattresses, and good bathroom.
• The pool is small adequate for our use, but not if you want to do laps or have a large party.

• Everyone was very attentive to our needs and never once waited for us to ask them, but asked us first. We were overwhelmed by their helpfulness!
• All three nights we woke up in the middle of the night to talking in the hallway by hotel staff. It was 4:30 am or earlier and very frustrating.

“I would highly recommend this hotel for those who enjoy outstanding customer service, cleanliness and comfort. It was convenient to shopping and site-seeing too. My only reservation is the noisy hotel staff talking loudly in the hallways during the early morning hours. Otherwise, we were very impressed by the friendliness of the hotel staff and their sensitivity to our needs.”

• Hallways cluttered with furniture, bedding, due to renovation, hard to get to room.

“The hotel is very convenient for Chicago tourists - a healthy walk from most places. Even though staff was friendly, they were not efficient. Calls to the front desk were repeatedly met with a busy signal. A request for a rollaway bed took 4 conversations with three separate staff over a period of 12 hours to accomplish. Still worth the money for the convenience and the hotel was clean and rooms were attractive.”

• 2 blocks from Michigan Ave; self-parking right next door.
• Elevators a bit slow.

“Name brand hotel in a very convenient location just 2 blocks from Michigan Ave. We even walked back to the hotel from Grant Park, not too far. Rooms were newly renovated, mini-Starbucks store in the lobby, self-parking right next door made this a great stay. The king room we got was very nice and had a great view of the John Hancock building.”

“Would definitely stay again at the Hilton Garden. Perfect location next to the El Red Line. Great for business travelers, though I stayed with a small child and had no problems. Very comfortable room and bed. We did not eat at Weber's Grill, but will do so next time we're in town.”

• The staff behind the desk was very helpful in all cases.
• The air conditioner was too loud and the housecleaning staff came too early in the morning.

“The Hilton Garden Inn is a first class accommodation staffed by friendly people eager to please. Having a very nice restaurant/bar like the Weber Grill attached is a big plus.”

• Location was great. Close enough to Michigan Ave. but far enough away from feeling hectic.
• Pool was small and we didn't seem to have enough wash cloths.

“I found the hotel to be very good for the price. Hotel staff was very friendly helping a first time traveler to Chicago. Room was a good size for a family of four. It's far enough away from Michigan Avenue to feel relaxing but still close enough to all of the public transportation.”

• Excellent hotel staff. From the counter staff, manager, to the bell boys, we received great service.
• We were unable to find a luggage cart on the day of checkout making it very difficult to get all of our items downstairs.

“The customer service definitely receives 4 stars. We were immediately greeted by a manager who offered suggestions for dinner, night clubs, etc. The outside bell men were also top notch. We did not use the valet parking and they still assisted us with loading up our bags. What most impressed me was that we had pulled our car out of the parking garage to load up our luggage and then we realized that there was no place to park to run and grab breakfast. The bell men kept our car for an extra 45 minutes so that we could run and eat. I would recommend this hotel to anyone for its location, service, and cleanliness.”

• I really enjoyed the location with having kids it enabled us to walk to what we wanted to see.
• I felt for the upgrade we would have been better off in a standard room. Also the pool is very small, disappointment for the children.

“The Hilton Garden Inn in Downtown Chicago was an excellent choice. It's location was within walking distance of the Navy Pier, Millennium Park and the Miracle Mile. An MTA stop was right outside the hotel which made it so easy to get to places that weren't within walking distance.”

“I had a few issues with the hotel. Our bed was tilted (one side higher than the other); parking was outrageous, even after being validated. No breakfast was included and meals at the hotel restaurant were a bit expensive.”
