• They had a very convenient late night check in, coded lock boxes in the lobby.
• Smokey room! It was horrible!

“The location of this hotel was extremely convenient, and the late night check in was super helpful, as we arrived later than expected, but the room was small and smokey with only one bed and no extra sheets.”

• I appreciated the in-room kitchenette and free high-speed internet access.
• Its location, while fine for many, was not especially convenient for my visit to the University of Michigan.

“Though the facilities and amenities were designed for longer stays, I found them well suited to my shorter trip. I specifically found the bed to be exceptionally comfortable. Although the front desk is not open 24 hours, there is always an employee on-site, and they're only a phone call away should the need arise. The staff was very helpful, even printing off MapQuest directions to help me find my way to a specific building on the UM campus. I would certainly stay with this chain of hotels again.”

• Free washers and dryers for laundry.
• Nothing to not like.

“The bed was better than most 3 and 4 star hotels. There is an honor system convenience store. If you want something you just write down the price and your room number and drop it in a box. It shows up on your bill. The free washers and dryers is a nice touch for multi day trips. For me, I could stay at this hotel chain every one of my 60 nights per year that I am in a hotel.”

• The bed was very comfortable.
• Was hard to get to. The hotel was behind a strip mall and no signs at the road entrance to get to.

“Overall the hotel met my expectations. I was there because my mother was having open heart surgery. It would have been nice to see a sign by the road directing you to the hotel. It was hard to find and I'm very good with directions.”

• Salt on the elevator floor.

“This is by far the best place I have stayed at to date. Not a lot of glitch in the non existent lobby, but the well stocked kitchenette and the decor was attractive. I found the honor system video check out and pantry quaintly enchanting. This is the only place I am staying for the foreseeable future.”

• It was really close to the Michigan football stadium.
• The elevator carpeting was dirty.

• The friendliness of the front desk and in room amenities.
• Bed not as comfortable as I would have hoped.

• Room was huge, and well appointed.
• Lobby area was small and sparse.

“Room was very spacious, with king size bed, and full kitchenette. There was a full couch, as well as a desk and all facilities. They even included a bag of microwave popcorn at no cost (unlike the typical $4 bottle of water).”

• Love Candlewoods - feels like home - laundry facility great, movies, store, etc wonderful services.
• No breakfast.

• It was a nice surprise to have a kitchen.
• Insects and worms in the room, no options for multiple beds.

“We felt the Candlewood was more like a hostel than a hotel, and were disappointed in it as accommodations for a family of four.”

• Room was nice-sized and clean. Loved having the fridge and kitchen.
• The elevator smelled like cigarette smoke.

“Kitchen, laundry (free?), refrigerator and plates/silverware/pots & pans, etc. were wonderful to have. Clean and new except for the elevator which occasionally smelled like cigarette smoke, and we saw the same two pieces of litter in the elevator for 1 1/2 days. Still, we'd stay here again.”

• Clean, comfortable, and convenient with nice amenities.
• The cooling system was a bit noisy - a minor thing.

“This hotel was an excellent value - the room included nice amenities (a mini kitchen with complimentary microwave popcorn, a radio/alarm clock, among others), the level of cleanliness was excellent, the bed and pillows were exceptionally comfortable, the front desk staff were very helpful, and I really appreciated the fact that snacks and beverages were available on the "honor system". Another bonus was the fact that the heating & cooling system could be regulated in each room. I would definitely stay there.”

• Room had a refrigerator and microwave.
• No breakfast, room was never made up or cleaned.

“Do not stay here if you are looking for a regular hotel room. This is a suite with kitchenette. There was no maid service and no continental breakfast. If you wanted breakfast, you needed to purchase it at the little store and make it yourself.”

• I loved the fact the hotel was so clean and the people were very friendly.
