• The location was good.
• The historic section is just old and smelled. The other part is 1980.

“We were surprised to find that there were really only 2 king sized beds in the entire hotel. The one we did get was in the historic section. This room smelled and was just old. The bathroom was tiny. We changed to a queen room that was already occupied. On the third try we got a queen room that was really a standard bed. I was not impressed.”

• Nice interior, excellent service by receptionist, able to use their computer for free.
• None.

“I stayed one night on April 21, 2008. Service was excellent. Nicely decorated small scale hotel. Complimentary breakfast was also good with some hot dishes & cold food. The hotel is located right next to highway #1. So I asked for the room that is away from highway. Therefore I had no noisy problem from highway. Definitely, I will stay there again.”

• Beautiful hotel, romantic getaway, very clean.
• Nothing bad to say.

“My husband and I decided to take a vacation to visit Maine. We found the Captain Daniel Stone Inn on the web; the hotels website had a honeymoon suite deal that was perfect. We stayed for three nights and I have to say It was amazing. This peaceful place is just what we needed, We went fishing, the Whale watching boat tour was incredible, were coming back next summer.”

• There was a huge flat screen TV.
• Shabby, rundown, poorly maintained.

“My husband and I planned a romantic get away at the Daniel Stone Inn - their special advertised boasted of champagne, crackers and cheese, fruit etc. We checked into our room and found that the bed had been slept in and the rumpled sheets were still on the bed with the quilt folded up over them. We were upgraded to the Captain's Suite. The phone did not work, the toilet paper holder in the bathroom was hanging by only one attachment, the window shades in all but 1 window were defective, the "fireplace" was a plastic screen with a holograph of fire and there was no ON/OFF switch, we had to plug it in and when I did it shot sparks from the outlet. The switches for the lamps were broken so we had to either unscrew the bulbs or unplug them. There were 2 potted plants in the room, both were dead. The champagne was warm Andre's from the grocery store, the crackers were generic Saltines and the cheese was generic cheddar and the fruit was green grapes. We called down to the desk to make reservations for dinner in the dining room. We used our cell phone to make the call. The desk clerk knew nothing about the restaurant, was unable to connect us to the dining room and she didn't know the phone number of the dining room. We eventually made a reservation for 8pm and arrived on time. The dining room was about half full. We had to wait over an hour to be seated. By the time we were seated they had run out of our first three choices. But when we finally were served our meals the food was excellent. I made a stop in the ladies room in the lobby on our way back to our room. The liquid soap dispenser was broken. There was a bag of soap lying on the counter top. The toilet paper holder was broken so the paper was sitting on the back of the toilet. The Daniel Stone used to be the nicest hotel in town but now it's just plain old, cheap and rundown. The furnishings were cheap mismatched reproductions. Very sad indeed.”

• Although we arrived 20 minutes before closing the hotel restaurant stayed open to serve us dinner.
• They did not replace our shampoo and soap on the 2nd night.

“The hotel is a charming, friendly, clean hotel. The staff was concerned and accommodating We arrived 20 minutes before the restaurant closed and they stayed open to serve us. The room was large and comfortable. It was convenient to Bowdon College, which we were visiting, as well as Brunswick shops and restaurants.”
