• Rooms were no different than any other economy hotel I've stayed in for much less money.

“This is a regular old hotel that is trying to remodel and upgrade itself - but it is not working. There was nothing 3 star about it. The rooms were no different than any other economy hotel that I have stayed in. Nice try on some of the cosmetic remodeling but it just couldn't hide the hotel itself. Doors didn't shut, room smelled of smoke, no space other than the beds, etc.
although they had great pillows and bedding.”

• Decent hotel.
• Not a 3-star hotel; not even a closet. Only clothing rack.

“Somewhat better than average I-95 roadside hotel with slightly small but decent accommodations and excellent bedding. Excellent shower. Free Internet connection a definite plus.”

• No hot tub, rooms smelled strongly of air freshener.

“Seemed like an upscale motel, not at all what I was thinking would be a three star. No view, right off the highway, would never have picked this hotel.”

• The hotel was very clean, the staff very polite and accommodating.
• Did not use the pool, but we went to look at it. Had to walk through the lower floor to get to the pool - not very convenient.

“I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice, clean building with friendly, helpful staff. The price was just right.”

• The staff was very friendly, courteous, and helpful! It made our stay much more enjoyable.
• The only thing I didn't like was at night the heat could not be controlled and it was very hot!

“This ultra modern hotel reminded me of expensive boutique hotels I have stayed it. I found the staff at the desk, lounge, and restaurant very friendly, and helpful! It made me and my spouse feel very relaxed and made for a much more enjoyable stay. Also the restaurant food was very good- my husband had the steak tips and said they were the best he has ever had!”

• Restaurant/lounge in the hotel as well as other comfort areas.

“This hotel is mostly good. Only somewhat bad. Everything was neat and clean. The rooms and halls were nice. The staff was nice. I felt like I could lounge around and not be stared at. I liked that the shower had a bar in it. This seems rare in hotels I stay in. I am disabled and need it. a handle to get in and out would be nice though. I did pay for late check out and was harassed every hour by the front desk and cleaning staff (calls and knocks). One more thing, free cookies, nice touch!”

• Very convenient. The Holiday Inn is renovating. They were nice rooms for the money.
• The Hampton Inn could've been a little nicer. Maybe different colored walls or headboard on the bed could've helped. But the public lounge area was nice

“The Holiday Inn in Portsmouth was great. The newly renovated floor was nice. Great location. Definitely would be the place to stay next time I head back.”

• I think hotel accommodation was as I expected. Hotel staff could have helped us to figure out how window curtain operate.

• Newly renovated rooms.
• The bathrooms are small, cramped, and the renovation cannot obscure that.

“With the new renovation, the hotel was nicer than I expected. The rooms are nicely decorated, the staff very friendly, although the bathrooms are small. There's a pool but no whirlpool - and the pool is strangely set in a glass enclosure attached to one side of the building. Be sure to bring your beach cover up as you'll be trouncing through the lobby to get to the pool.”

• Location only.
• Unhelpful staff and (expect maintenance man) pool in parking lot.

“Hall smelled terrible. We were kept up all night with partying smokers next door. Smoke was coming into our room. Asked to switch rooms next morning. We decided to wait by taking the kids to pool at 12pm on Friday. Get there to find it was closed for maintenance. Staff went to open pool to let us in and maint. man ran out of his office to tell us he suggested we didn't use it due to very high bromine levels and to wait for a few hours. However staff was willing to let us and young kids use it - horrible! Maint. man gave us a roll of quarters to keep kids busy in video game room. Went back to desk after wasting time and loosing a big chunk of our short trip, to see if room was ready.”

• Location was great. Portsmouth is a fantastic town!
• Bathroom tub drains were clogged in both of our rooms.

“Good location, clean and comfortable. The drains in are bath tubs did not drain quickly and you end up standing in water. But fun time and would stay again if I was in Portsmouth, NH.”

• Staff went out of their way to help us enjoy our stay.
• The restaurant exhaust could be smelled heavily when our window was open.

“The kids loved the pool and the quick ride to area beaches and shopping just across the river. Great hotel for the business traveler. The staff went out of their way to get us directions to a family friendly eatery in Portsmouth. Their recommendation was a little too posh for little kids, but their cheerful effort was greatly appreciated. Will stay again.”

• The room was clean, the bed was comfortable.
• Check out took a while, because there was a new person was at the front. Staff was friendly, though.

“Good basic hotel. Clean, comfortable rooms- bed especially comfortable. Nice showerhead! About a mile walks from Downtown Portsmouth.”

• The clerk was very friendly and helpful.
• It seemed a little shabby and rundown, not as clean as I'd like.

“This hotel is easy to find and convenient but it doesn't have some amenities (such as a mini bar) and it's a little run down. Rooms near the elevator were very noisy, so ask to be away from there. It's certainly acceptable an overnight if you are not looking for upscale.”

• The location to area attraction was good.
• It is an old run down hotel. The bathroom in our room was so dirty. The sink was slow draining and actually overflowed.

“Although the location was great I found the room less the satisfactory especially the bathroom. When I called the front desk to tell about the sink they were less the helpful. There was mold and cracking in the shower. Its time for an update or demolition!”

• The spacious room.
• The bed was a bit saggy and not as comfortable as I would have like.

“We needed a hotel for just one night in between a visit to NH and dropping my child off at camp in Maine. This hotel met our needs, but I would not stay here if I wanted a vacation hotel. The pool was very small and there was no hot tub.”

“Well, in short, I would say that this hotel is ideal for the perfect business traveler or the family looking for a night of convenience. Not so ideal for the couple looking for that special romantic night, or the younger generation looking for that perfect spot to throw festivities at. So, if you are on the way to Six Flags with the family, and you need a place to crash, I would recommend this hotel. Good food, reasonable prices, a pool and game arcade, it has all the necessities for the single digit generation. So, for those reasons alone, I would recommend this hotel.”

• Pleasant employees at front desk, welcoming lobby.
• House keeping knocking on our door before 9:00 AM.

“At check in, told we had 1 queen size, but they could roll in a cot. They found us finally, a room, no smoking, on a floor, I believe we were sharing with several rooms. Between noise, beds, and pillows, the final straw, was house keeping knocking on our door, then opening it, then hearing them loudly go down the hall, knocking on doors.”

• Liked the breakfast, the food was fresh and the staff were friendly.
• The beds were hard and squeaky when you sat or turned in them.

“Good side; the staff were great. We had fresh towels and made up beds each day. The food was fantastic. Try breakfast, you'll be very impressed. The maintenance man was very quick to help move a fridge and microwave to our new room when we had to switch rooms because the headboard fell off the wall when we sat on the bed and when the bed was moved to fix it, the bed broke. Bad side; the pool is small and the hotel is going through renovations. The beds were hard and squeaked when you sat or turned over on them. Otherwise clean and friendly.”

“While on the surface the holiday inn seemed nice enough, our room itself was unacceptable. Half of the room smelled as if someone vomited over the side of the bed, and the heavy headboard fell off the wall (nearly injuring my traveling buddy) at the slightest shift in bed. The staff was apologetic and otherwise helpful, but it seems that the maintenance of the room was sub-par. For future trips, I¿ll be going across the street to America¿s best inns and suites, where we stayed before, for future trips.”
