• This hotel was very comfortable. The bed and bedding was above average and the rooms and public areas were quite clean.
• There is nothing with walking distance of this hotel.

“Nice hotel. Bed and pillows were quite comfortable. Continental breakfast was pretty good with wide selection of choices. Location was close to highways but there is nothing within walking distance. Okay for one night.”

• Clean and comfortable room.
• Poor location for those looking to explore Portsmouth, no dogs a big minus.

“The Fairfield was clean, staff was friendly, and the complimentary breakfast was great. The hotel is quite far from Portsmouth. Very bland experience. Better for a business traveler. No dogs a huge minus for the hotel. For pleasure, look closer to downtown.”

• The staff was super friendly and nice.
• You had to have a car to access the hotel. It's not convenient to get into downtown Portsmouth, and the cabs are super expensive.

“The hotel staff was absolutely wonderful. Its painfully obvious that they are understaffed and overworked which is a function of the hotel industry. My major concern is that there's no public transportation for those without cars.”

“The front desk lady was very pleasant and helpful. The room decor was great, contemporary well bright green and navy contrast. The breakfast was great and had something for everyone. Our teenagers gave this a super-plus!”

• Wished the pool was indoors - rained most of the stay.

“The hotel has been recently upgraded. The hotel is very clean and the staff is friendly. Conveniently located in the busy congested city of Portsmouth. Easy to get in and of hotel. Would recommend.”

• I loved the breakfast choices.
• Room was noisy as I could hear people in the evening around the pool on the other side of the building.

“Great place to stay for short trips, business or leisure. Easy access to Kittery Maine and all parts of Portsmouth.”

• They need to have rooms with two queen beds rather than two double beds.

• Tasteful decor with the (exception of the rug in the hotel room).
• Didn't like separation of sink from rest of bathroom. Bathroom fixtures should be together in one room.

“Helpful staff, plenty of parking, easy to find, comfortable beds - but not a place I would consider romantic in any sense, nor within the range of quality of a higher - end B&B or upscale hotel. Good, basic services, reliable.”

“I found the room to be very decent, beds were comfortable, and staff was above average. It is easy to drive by when you get off of I-95 so you may miss it. It is great if you are a non smoker as the hotel is smoke free. I would stay there again.”

• The crisp clean while bed linens were inviting.
• The pool was outdoors, an indoor pool would have been preferable.

“Based on the decor I would deduce that the hotel had recently been renovated. The staff was friendly and helpful beyond what would be expected. My husband and I enjoyed our stay and felt fortunate when we heard other guests.”

• The breakfast area was crowded with not enough space for everyone.

• I liked that the room was clean and comfortable. It was also an easy check out.
• I did not like the fact that the area for breakfast was very small. It was packed on Sunday am and I needed to bring my food back to the room.

• The courteousness of the staff. They made you feel very welcome.
• I have no negative comments.

“Our stay at this hotel could not have been much better. It was the perfect start to a wonderful vacation. At check in, the clerk made it a point to place us in a room, that had both a microwave and a refrigerator, since we were there 5 days. We were treated as well as someone who was charged "top-dollar!".”

• Chairs in breakfast area so big you couldn't move around.

“The room next door was very loud and it was after midnight. We called down to the front desk and let it ring at least 20 times, no answer. Finally my husband went downstairs only to find the desk clerk on a personal phone call ignoring her duties to the guests. Other than that we had a pleasant stay. The location is nowhere near the beach.”

• The overnight staff was rude.

“When I asked about the inability of air-conditioning control, the overnight guy asked to go into the room and I said my wife was asleep so he shrugged and said there's nothing I can do. He was quite rude and unhelpful.”

• It is being updated by being remodeled.
• Our carpet was getting wet for some reason the clerk came and looked at it and nothing done at that time.

“Other than the above statement we found it to be very accommodating. They had a nice continental breakfast. They offered a lot of choices.”

• The new mattress was more comfortable than my own at home!!
• Very expensive to rent movies on demand

• Wound up in 2 double beds, would have preferred a queen single bed.

“Overall the hotel was great. Would have been better if we had stayed both nights. But what can you do when the highways are bad. We ended up in a crappy Motel just outside Hardford Conn.”
