“The hotel was clean and the staff were very accommodating. The room was just average compared to other hotels I have stayed in.” Apr 24, 2009 by
Alan from Washington,DC
“I would not recommend this hotel. Its located across Charles from downtown Boston, and next to a mall. But its a long walk to usual Boston sites. Furniture in room looked like it had been left outside in the rain. TV didn't work properly. And shower was really weak.” Nov 24, 2008 by
Anne from Amherst,NH

“The indoor pool provided an opportunity for the kids to relax after a long day of sightseeing in downtown Boston and a 5-hour visit to the nearby Museum of Science. The staff were friendly and familiar with the neighborhood shopping and dining and sites to be seen.” Sep 24, 2008 by
Joni
“Location was very nice, walking distance to shopping, restaurants, and some local attractions. The view from my room was amazing, I watched the Harvard crew team each day at 5 pm. The location was safe and clean.” Sep 14, 2008 by
James from Skillman, NJ
“Good location.” Sep 2, 2008 by
Marlene from Oradell, NJ
“Clean, attractively decorated, upscale. Convenient for business travelers and/or college visits. Beautiful location by the Charles River, conveniently located across front a mall with a varied store population. Service, first rate. I would highly recommend this hotel to all my friends.” Aug 5, 2008 by
Inger from Westervoort The Netherlands, VT
“Excellent view, clean modern rooms, friendly staff, good location. I would love to come back.” Jul 27, 2008 by

“Ideal location, beautiful rooms and attentive staff. This is truly a wonderful hotel.” Jul 17, 2008 by
Toni from Wilkes Barre, PA
“Overall a great stay! I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to go to Boston.” Jun 29, 2008 by
Dennis from Dallas, TX
“Excellent room, beautify view close to most sites. Great room service, however, stay out of bar and dining rooms. We visited each and had horrid service. We had to get up to find our server twice in the restaurant. Additionally, we went into the bar on two occasions and got completely ignored! Never got served! Finally, we went across the street to another hotel to use their bar.” Jun 19, 2008 by

“Concierge gave bad advice. Told us that a cab ride would be $12 and it turned out to be $26. No hot water the morning I was checking out. Maintainer came and took the shower apart but left to get a part. By the time he came back it was too late and I had to check out without a shower.” Jun 4, 2008 by
JENIFER “Will probably stay here again.” Apr 30, 2008 by
Heather from Bothell, WA
“When we contacted the hotel security of the situation that happened with the money, they seemed to make every excuse possible as to why the maid took our money. They said they "assumed" she thought it was left for a tip, yet no note was left by us saying such, as well as we had 3 days left in our stay. They were terrible at following up and never did resolve it with me before I left.” Apr 28, 2008 by
Kimberly from San Francisco, CA
“It seemed like it needed a face lift. No tub and just an ugly room.” Apr 16, 2008 by
Maureen from Dix Hills, NY
“The Royal Sonesta in Cambridge is an upscale, very well maintained hotel. It's a 10 minute walk to T line and Museum of Science. Room was nice size, had comfortable beds and soft towels. Service throughout was excellent. Very soon after we checked in they brought us a refrigerator, (at no charge) that I had forgotten I ordered. I would definitely consider this hotel again if I'm in the Boston area.” Mar 27, 2008 by
Renee from Centennial, CO
“I was looking forward to staying here, but I was greatly disappointed with my stay. First I asked for a quiet room due to some recordings I was going to have to do, so they said absolutely, we will upgrade you to this room at no charge. Well it was between the elevator and the end of the hall with a family suite. It doesn't get any noisier than that, and it was a box tiny! So I called them and told them my dilemma and asked if they had another room, something bigger maybe I could upgrade to? Well the woman said, well I see you have already been upgraded, and all our rooms are this size! As if I wanted another free upgrade, I said that I know they have suites and if any were available I would be happy to pay for the upgrade. She abruptly told me they were full, and basically rushed me off the phone, because she had someone in front of her she needed to take care of. So not so good on the customer service part. The food was good, and it is right across the street from a very nice mall, and a exhibit museum. So location is really good. But definitely not a 4 star in my opinion!” Mar 26, 2008 by
Eileen from Great Neck, NY
“Upscale modern hotel, convenient to MIT and Harvard with beautiful waterfront view. Nice indoor pool.” Mar 19, 2008 by
Richard from Natick, MA
“I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Boston or Cambridge.” Mar 12, 2008 by
Jacob from Brighton, MA
“This hotel was alright for a night, but certainly didn't feel like it deserved four stars. luxury was not a priority, but it was better than a motel. Nice swimming pool deep in Cambridge.” Mar 12, 2008 by
Lilian K. from Arlington, MA
“Great location for tourists and close to a shopping mall. The room bar was a little too expensive. 5$ for a small bottle of water?” Feb 27, 2008 by
Julian from Osterville, MA
“Up to-date lobby and the room are nicely renovated. Great location, easy to get to Boston or Harvard Square. My only two complaints are the price of bottled water at $5.50 per bottle and they charge their hotel guest for over night parking.” Oct 24, 2007 by
John from Newark, DE
“Most friendly staff I have ever encountered. All the rooms felt brand new from the linens to the new granite countertops and flat screen TVs. It was a great experience.” Oct 10, 2007 by
Karen from Hebron, CT
“I think this is an excellent hotel. I noticed families enjoying themselves as well as couples and business people. This is extraordinary that you can comfortably combine all three.” Oct 2, 2007 by
Colleen from Colchester, CT
“Very nice but I still feel I paid too much.” Sep 19, 2007 by
Debbie from Longmeadow, MA
“The location of the hotel is perfect- located right on the Charles river/next to Cambridge side galleria/science museum. The room was immaculate, the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable, flat screen HDTV on wall. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Royal Sonesta.” Sep 19, 2007 by
Corey G. from Scarborough, ME
“See my complaints that I have forwarded to your uncaring customer service department.” Sep 19, 2007 by
Kathy from Cumberland, ME
“Overall my experience was great. The staff was particularly friendly and helpful. My view left a bit to be desired but I didn't spend much time in my room. The pillows were the best.” Sep 14, 2007 by
Mike from Waterford, VT
“Overall I loved the hotel. Prices were high for any incidental that you wanted on location. Parking rates were higher than I would have liked. The view of the Charles was priceless.” Aug 30, 2007 by
Eileen from Great Neck, NY
“Comfortable, upscale modern hotel. Lovely waterfront location. Great beds and TV. Really nice indoor pool with retractable roof. Across from 120-store mall. Somewhat inconvenient to subway lines but there are lots of cabs. Fine choice for college visits.” Jul 25, 2007 by
Jane from Bellevue, WA
“The Royal Sonesta is stylish, well-located, very comfortable hotel. The staff was all friendly and helpful, facilities were attractive. Would definitely return.” Jul 19, 2007 by
Marian from Gaithersburg, MD
“The room was beautiful. The extra summer offerings were terrific. The price was right and so was the location. I loved everything about the hotel, including the helpful staff.” Jul 11, 2007 by
Shirley from Austin, TX
“This is a very beautiful hotel, very modern and luxurious. Our room had a glorious view of the river and the accommodations more than exceeded my expectations. The staffs of the hotel and the concierge were extremely helpful, and accommodating. The only flaw was the restaurant. While very nice and the food was good, it was expensive and our waitress was rude and extremely slow. Maybe a 20% tip shouldn't be automatically added to your order.” Jul 6, 2007 by
Jeremie from Staten Island, NY
“My stay was not as pleasant as I thought it would have been. Having to pay extra for parking was an inconvenience and I feel that this should have been taken care of by the hotel. Overall the stay was just fine, but I would probably not return.” Jul 5, 2007 by
Judy from Washington, NJ
“Excellent location, walk out the lobby and there is the Charles River. Nice neighborhood, T subway line is short walk, you can park your car and use the subway all weekend. Great mall right across the street from hotel. Nice Breakfast Buffet (extra) in the cafe in the morning. Outside dining, with views of the Charles River.” Jun 14, 2007 by
Kristen from New Bedford, MA
“The hotel lobby was very inviting. They have nice artwork and lighting and a pleasant staff. The "room with a view" is not necessarily a view of the harbor; ours was a view of the highway and traffic. The sheets were comfy but the comforters were extremely strange and resembled a fancy Bounty paper towel. The shower has, by far, the best water pressure in the world!! Also, the mini-bar was very reasonably priced.” Apr 25, 2007 by
Carol from Pearland, TX
“The only problem I had with the hotel and it really wasn't the fault of the Sonesta. There was a crying baby next door who started crying at midnight. The crying stopped for awhile for started back up at 6 a.m. I had planned to sleep in on that morning, so needless to say, I was not happy about that.” Apr 23, 2007 by
Theresa &. from Brookline, MA
“Walking distance to shopping was great. Returned 3 hours later and told room was not ready still. Receptionist very polite and eager to fix problem. (He extended our check out time by 4 hours) room was large with very nice linen on beds and pillows were incredible but the bed itself was lumpy. Paid premium for a river view that was obstructed by a blooming tree. Great TV. Bathroom had a peculiar odor later discovered bathtub wouldn't drain after shower. Toiletries were poor quality. Coffee maker in room would have been great except no paper cups were supplied. (I would have thought real cups should have been used. ” Dec 15, 2006 by
Paxton from Fort Worth, TX
“Superb bed with flat panel TV in room. Courteous and professional staff. Couldn't have been happier (unless a bit cheaper!).” Oct 25, 2006 by
Joanna from Beverly, MA
“Great location. We were able to walk to the Museum of Science, then the North End for dinner. Enjoyed fabulous after dinner drinks at Dante's at the hotel. Dante's had delicious breakfast with a great view. Nothing like sitting on the beautiful King size bed looking out over the Prudential building and the Charles River. Enjoyed walking along the Charles for hours. Great getaway with my hubby.” Aug 5, 2006 by
Walt from Westfield, MA
“This hotel was a great place for my family to stay. We had to drive twice a day to swim meets in Cambridge and the location was great. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Noise from the hotel nor the traffic outside could be heard. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. My only negative comment would be the parking fee. I do think it should be included with your stay.” May 18, 2006 by
Clark from Mequon, WI
“Very friendly catering to their customers promptly. Across from a mall and close to the "T" (subway) - about five blocks. Rooms and public areas of the hotel were VERY clean. Would stay here again without hesitation.” May 10, 2006 by
Sheryl from Lawrence, NY
“The hotel and staff were pleasant. The rooms were clean, the beds, very comfortable, and there is a nice pool. The hotel is conveniently located across the street from a mall where you can find more reasonable restaurants.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.May 3, 2006 by

“It is beside the Charles river. Whether if it is daytime or night, there is very good view out of the windows. The communication service of the hotel is fairly good.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jan 4, 2006 by

“I returned to this hotel with my family for a fun stay in the cold weather. We had stayed a number of times on business and remembered it fondly. This visit we were not disappointed - even though the science museum wasn't open (it's right next door). A short cab ride to the North end for dinner. Very comfortable beds, clean, inviting and friendly.” 2 of 2 people found this review helpful.Nov 7, 2005 by

“Located on the Cambridge side of the Charles River next to a small marina and the Museum of Science, the Royal Sonata offers great views of Boston, if you are fortunate enough to get a room on the south side. The promenade, great for running or walking, is adjacent to the hotel and provides a relaxing place to unwind, get some fresh air and some exercise.” Nov 2, 2005 by
Bob from Dunwoody, GA
“Disappointing. While the trendy, modern decor was eye catching, the rooms are small, the price more than 2x the D'tree and the service was below average. I spent the week at Harvard and the taxi ride was 2x as much from the R Sonesta as from the D'tree Suites. Further, the shuttle service offered by the R Sonesta was more austere in availabity than the D'tree. The D'tree was clean, neat and average in decor but with larger rooms and baths. The final straw was this: I was in Harvard Square before I chedcked in the the D'tree and discovered that the D'tree had changed from the published shuttle schedule. When I called to verify this, they quickly apologized and offered to reimburse my taxi fare in getting to the D'tree. On the other hand, when I checked out of the D'tree in orderto move the R Sonesta, I called tha R Sonesta for a shuttle ride. The advised that I was 'welcome' to take a cab to their establishment. When I pressed as to who would pay, they advised that the cab fare was my option. The final straw was when the concierge at the D'trewe then offered to drive me to the R Sonesta in the D'tree shuttle. I had to physically press a Lincoln into his hand for his help.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Oct 21, 2005 by

“The overall quality of the hotel was good. We didn't like the fact that a room with double beds was not available when we checked in. Room was very small.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Sep 8, 2005 by

“The hotel i thought was nice and clean, the parking was a little pricey but for boston it was good... Overall i liked the hotel and i would go there again”
