  • Responsiveness to needs was excellent. If there were a rating higher than 10, I would use it;.
  • Cann't think of anything negative, forgot to mention the shuttle service was extremely useful and on time.

  • Hotel was very clean.
  • They seem to charge extra for everything, parking, internet, etc.

“Well Kept. Fairly friendly staff. Considering anyone bringing their own vehicle would not have other parking choices in busy city like Boston, the $30/night is little opportunist. The $10/day charge to access WiFi in room and hotel lobbies is also a little ridiculous, especially if aiming for the business traveler.”

  • Spacious room and the view from my room facing the river was wonderful.
  • Inconvenient if you don't have a car.

“The room was fabulous, the staff are not trained to provide excellent service, but they were friendly. The grounds and public areas were very well kept and in great working order. This is a small thing, but a really nice feature - the elevators were very fast and efficient.”

  • The room was spacious and comfortable. The public space was attractive.
  • It is not close enough to a T stop. The air conditioner in our room was noisy and was not fixed during our stay.

“Overall, we were very happy with the quality of our hotel, our suite and the friendliness/quality of the staff. The shuttle was very useful, indeed necessary. If the shuttle had pick-up from the nearest T stop, this would make a future stay more likely. In addition, they need an airport shuttle. Taxi or public transportation are the only options now.”

  • Friendly, courteous staff.

“I was pleasantly surprised. Beautiful hotel room with microwave, fridge, bottled water and popcorn. The bathroom was super clean. The lobby area is spacious. The staff top notch. Our room view was facing the Boston skyline, fantastic. They also gave Priceline a good review and said that you people are top notch to work with. The most important feature: The best chocolate chip walnut cookies you ever tasted! The coffee in the room was also quite good. Fresh half and half.”

  • Fantastic view from room, proximity to Boston & Cambridge.
  • Parking was $25 a night for guests?

“Very nice and very clean hotel in a great location. Wasn't too happy about having to pay for parking but I guess that happens when you stay in a hotel in a major city. My room had a beautiful view of the Charles River and Cambridge. I loved having two high definition TVs in my suite.”

  • Parking charge is excessive, difficult to enter and exit the hotel with a car.

  • Shuttle services to three locations, very convenient.
  • Escalator was making sqeeking noise, all the time.

“Parking is extra fee, but has no other place to park. The hotel provided shuttle services to harvard sq., freedom trail locations which were what I needed.”

  • The bed was very comfortable.
  • The room smelled like smoke, the TVs didn't work.

“I was happy when I arrived. A room with a king sized bed and all looked very nice inside. The problem was, the room smelled like smoke. Also, the TVs didn't work; they got all fuzzy on any cable channels. It was also really noisy. The hotel is built around a large open area in the middle. A bar and meeting area is located on the lower level of this open area. It was really noisy as people were talking at the bar. It helped that the beds were back away from the door, but still a little annoying.”

  • The suites are large, with separate bedroom and living space
  • Drab white paint job could be brightened up

“The hotel lives up to its 3 1/2 star rating. There were small issues: visivle plumbing tape around the shower heads, a shower stopper that did not work properly. But the rooms were large, well decorated and comfortable and the hotel staff was excellent.”

  • My husband had to inject medication one night, hotel staff was helpful with bandades and supplies.
  • The rooms are all facing the center so it gets very loud. Also the doors closed rather loudly.

“I expected something nicer for the number of stars the hotel had. Other Doubletrees I have stayed at are more luxurious. Also the front desk was not very accommodating when asked for a room change.”

  • Beautiful room, friendly and helpful staff.
  • This hotel is a 15 minute walk to the closest T station and 30 minutes from Harvard (walking).

“As a male traveling alone to visit his son at Harvard for Parent's Weekend, this hotel served my needs well, especially for the price. I walked to and from Harvard when the shuttle wasn't available, which took about 30 minutes, but this was a beautiful, relaxing walk along the Charles River with the Fall colors. This hotel would have been ideal if a T stop had been close by, but I don't mind walking. The suite more than suited my needs, and the room service breakfast was very good. I found the concierge service very helpful.”

  • The suite was clean and neat, had all the necessary amenities.
  • Front desk customer service was on par with an average motel - disappointing.

“The hotel itself has a lot of appeal. And if you are lucky, you'll get a room with an amazing view of the river. All the amenities that an average traveler would look for, they are all there. The place is clean and inviting. It has its own jazz club, which is pretty amazing also. The only disappointing thing is front desk staff. Very friendly and good people, just not knowledgeable enough about their own software.

  • They provided a free shuttle service that dropped/picked-up residents at convenient locations in the city throughout the day. Really loved that!
  • The restaurant was way overpriced.

“Clean hotel with nice rooms and extremely friendly and helpful staff. The views of the river are lovely. The free shuttle service was great and is enough alone to bring me back. Only negative is the outrageous prices in the restaurant. Not everyone is a business traveler with a per diem who doesn't mind spending $20 for one person at breakfast.

  • I liked the location and the service.
  • It would have been nice if they had a shuttle to and from the airport.

“The hotel was in a wonderful location across from the Charles River and about a mile from the T-station. The people working there were friendly and very helpful. We felt very comfortable and relaxed. There was so much to do in the city we were unable to take advantage of the hotel's indoor pool. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay.”

  • The young man at the customer service desk was friendly and helpful.
  • The location is horrible, you can't walk anywhere, the shuttles are sporadic, taxis expensive.

“If it weren't for the location, we would have enjoyed our stay at the Doubletree. The accommodations were fine. However, the inconvenience of the location colored our entire trip and made everything more difficult and expensive. There is absolutely nothing within easy walking distance, including restaurants or convenience stores.”

  • Friendly staff and spectacular room.

“I loved this hotel. We brought our two dogs and were made to feel very welcome (all of us). We even took the free shuttle bus to Harvard Square with the dogs! The suite was awesome (clean, spacious and comfortable)and the staff was accommodating and friendly. We highly recommend this as an ideal place to stay when visitng either Boston or Cambridge.”

“The Doubletree Guest Suites is a comfortable and reasonably priced (for the area) option. My experience there was quite positive. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful, the room was similar to more expensive places in the area - very clean, quiet and pleasantly designed. The drawbacks for me were that it was not located near public transportation and I personally don't like driving in that area because parking is so impossible to find. The only other thing was that there was no place to buy a bottle of water for less than $3.00 - I had to go to the restaurant to purchase this. Generally speaking my experience there was very positive and I would definitely stay there again.”

  • Twin beds in the suite? Too small for me.
