“Clean convenient modern hotel centrally located in beautiful center of town. On water, near fine restaurants, almost on top of local theme shopping areas.” Oct 22, 2009 by
Cathy from Griswold,CT
“Very nice hotel with great view and location; shopping, dining, and historical interests right outside your door. Room was tastefully decorated and comfortable. We enjoyed the Keurig coffee maker. We even had binoculars in the room to enjoy the view!” Oct 6, 2009 by
Melissa from Ivoryton,CT
“This was a very good deal. The hotel staff wasn't the friendliest, but the room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the hotel is located right next to downtown Newport. You can easily walk to the shops and restaurants.” Sep 4, 2009 by

“Having lived in Newport I' ve always wanted to stay at this hotel. I knew it was nice but it met all of my expectations and more. It was in the perfect location, clean, and just wonderful. I would recommend it to anyone.” Jun 24, 2009 by
Greg from Avon,CT
“Very ordinary rooms badly in need of renovation and as the clerk at the front desk, you have no chance of a harbor view, I can confirm that for both of the rooms I.” Sep 30, 2008 by

“Excellent location, very pleasant decor and feeling of freshness and good maintenance. Comfortable bed and pillows, all in all, a nice feeling of quiet luxury for the price.” Sep 25, 2008 by
Vic
“Overall, a nice place to stay. The bathroom was very small with a single sink and not any counter space around the sink. One of my biggest complaints of any hotel is having to pay for parking when your paying to stay there but I guess more and more hotels are charging for parking now. Perfect location right on Newport Harbor, you can walk out the back door and right into the streets of Newport.” Sep 8, 2008 by
Esther from Monsey, NY
“The hotel exceeded my expectations. It is a beautiful, very tasteful hotel and loved the service as well.” Sep 5, 2008 by
Jack from Allendale, NJ
“If staying in Newport you can't get any closer to the action. Located at Bowens Wharf it's a few steps to everything on the Harbor. Nice pool, generally friendly staff, and a well appointed room. The hotel itself is an older property, with a couple of face lifts, not top notch by any means, but comfortable. I did have an issue checking in, somehow all of my credit cards were declined. To add insult to injury, the person checking me in did not seem to care much, and further more did not think it odd that this could occur. Feeling like a deadbeat, I called American Express and it was determined that the problem was at their end, however they just shrugged and were unwilling to do anything about it. Luckily the Amex person told me exactly what to say to them, and with some gentle persuasion which included raising my voice to a packed check-in audience, they called did a verbal approval. Not the best front desk.” Sep 2, 2008 by
Ivan from Boston, MA
“Clean and cozy harbor hotel with great parking, located right in the heart of downtown.” Aug 28, 2008 by
Jean from Chesterfield, NJ
“Nice people, nice service, nice location.” Aug 23, 2008 by
Anne M. from Bethel, CT
“We had 2 very comfortable beds like we requested. The room was kept clean and tidy. We loved the fact that we could park the car & walk to restaurants and shopping.” Aug 21, 2008 by
Don from Mckinney, TX
“Very well located if you want to be in the heart of activity on Thames Blvd. On the bay and very nice if you have a water view room. Close to many fine restaurants and shopping.” Aug 12, 2008 by
Maryann from Woburn, MA
“We had a great weekend.” Aug 5, 2008 by
Becky from Fitchburg, MA
“This hotel met all expectations, the location was central to all Newport activities, as well as a perfect spot on the marina. The pool was well maintained and enjoyable. The staff was friendly and informative. The only downside was the additional cost for parking.” Jul 27, 2008 by
Patti from Tewksbury, MA
“We were at Newport for a wedding on Friday night. The location (wedding at Bel Mer) was great, and the location was great for the area in Newport.” Jul 9, 2008 by
Ryan from Milford, CT
“Since we were in Newport, RI for an evening wedding, our stay was very brief. Although our room itself was clean and without complaint, we were woken up the next morning by a conversation we could hear perfectly going on in the room next to us. We checked out fairly satisfied. However, the real issue (and still unresolved) came that Monday when I noticed an additional charge on my debit card for $154.54. I called and I was told that it was my bank who puts a hold for that amount on the card for incidentals and it should be removed by the next day.” Jul 3, 2008 by
Vic from Orefield, PA
“Great location- hotel was not able to honor our request for a king room on our first night, but had one available for us on our second night and they moved our things for us. The rooms dockside are a bit noisy due to the hum coming from the boats or generators or something. Very comfortable rooms: the bathrooms are about as big as a postage stamp and there is no place to put your toiletries. Other than that it is a fine hotel and we had a great stay.” Jun 30, 2008 by
Marc from Monson, MA
“Overall, I was very happy with my stay here. The room was clean and spacious. Keurig coffee makers was a nice upgrade to coffee makers in most rooms. The hotels location was perfectly located to all of the downtown wharfs. My only knock was that they charge you $15 a day to park which is exactly what they charge non-guests. I would have expected at least a discounted parking rate if not free parking based on the cost of the rooms.” Jun 4, 2008 by
Darlene from Cheshire, CT
“The hotel was centrally located near restaurants, shopping, entertainment & scenic water views. The hotel staff was helpful and courteous. The onsite restaurant has excellent dinner food, atmosphere (outside dining) and entertainment. We would definitely go back again.” Jun 3, 2008 by
Patrick from North Haven, CT
“Nice hotel with a very convenient location. Room was a little on the small side and bathroom could use a face lift. Heated indoor pool was nice but decking surface was very slippery and both of my children took multiple tumbles. Also the pool area looked liked it was not cleaned throughout the day. We have stayed at other hotels in Newport which were much nicer and also some not so nice more so this one kind of falls somewhere in between.” May 14, 2008 by
Sarah from Manchester, CT
“This was a very nice, attractive and clean hotel. It had beautiful places to look on to the Marina and is located in the heart of Newport. The staff were very knowledgeable about the area and all the tourist things to do. It is one of our top weekends away.” May 14, 2008 by
Terri from Danbury, CT
“Location was great. Staff was great. Food was so-so. The bathroom toilet was loose and rocked back and forth.” May 12, 2008 by
Meangene from Oxnard, CA
“Good location, clean room, comfortable bed, nicely decorated. No breakfast. Walls are paper thin. We could hear plumbing and neighbors voices, TVs and stereos.” Jul 26, 2007 by
jr from providence
“Evicted and double billed worst noise policy ever! Evicted from the commodore suite after 1 notification (approx. 12:15 am) at our door from an extremely rude front desk clerk for noise complaints. No prior phone calls, no security warning, nothing. We made a phone call to the front desk about the rudeness of the hotel clerk and were told we would have to speak to a manager in the morning. We kept quiet and were almost asleep when 4 Newport police officers and 1 security guard were at our door 45 minutes later (1:00 am) to evict 4 business men age 35-37. One police officer actually said he didn't know why they were called. The hotel double billed us for the room, which caused much confusion with the dispute department at Discover card. The dispute is still pending. Rude staff, zero tolerance noise policy and a management staff that needs a dose of common sense. Stay elsewhere!”
