  • Newly renovated, Chic, minimalist, spotless, inviting. Great water views.
  • Our bathroom was chilly and without a heat vent. Hot water heater needs to be turned down a notch.

“Great water views, very friendly and helpful staff, spotless room and common areas. Has the chic feel of a W Hotel, but without all the "dark rooms" and hallways. This hotel is very bright and features a lot of windows where you can enjoy the water views.”

  • The room and view were very nice.
  • 5p check-in was delayed 1 hour.

“Great rooms in a fantastic setting. The lobby was busy during our visit at the height of summer tourism. The staff was very polite but frazzled by the volume of customers compounded by a large wedding at the hotel. We checked in at 5p and had to wait an hour for a room to become available but the room and the view were worth waiting for.”

  • It is in the heart of Newport. Close to great restaurants and attractions.
  • No hot tub in the pool area, too much room furniture.

“We did enjoy our stay here at the Hyatt. The valet is convenient, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful with great knowledge of the best dining in the area. However, I was amazed that the pool area did not include a hot tub, which I would have thought a hotel of this caliber would surely have. Also, the room could have been more comfortable with less furniture. It felt quite cluttered and things seems to be on top of each other. For instance, the couch should be replaced with nothing larger than a chair, thus allowing access to the full-length mirror that was otherwise useless. It didn't ruin our stay, by any means, but just seemed like a good suggestion.”

  • The views were great!
  • Our room was very noisy, including inside (the bathroom).

“A nice place. The location is a bit awkward as you have to go over a causeway to get there and back to town. There did not seem to be any sound proofing in the room. However, the view was great!”

  • Very clean, updated, lots of pillows, most of the rooms have a great view of the bay.
  • The walls are very thin. The people above us had a party going on in there room till 3:00 am. We could hear the entire conversation.

“The hotel over all was very nice. It was recently renovated. Very clean. My only complaint was all the noise you can hear through the walls. We complained 2 times about the noise and the staff did nothing. They went up to talk with them one time. We actually heard him ask them to bring it down a notch because the people below them are complaining. They obviously don't know how to have a good time. I was furious. Also ask for a room away from the elevator. You can here the bell every time it opens and closes and hear the people getting on and off. With all the money they put into this very nice hotel they should have put more into the walls for some sound proofing. I may stay again but not really sure. We were there during the off season. I can't imagine what in season would be like.”

  • I loved the hotel shuttle back and forth into town, it was quick, convenient and the drivers were so friendly and helpful.
  • The bed was a bit small, full is way too small.

“We really enjoyed the facilities. The parking was local, the shuttle back and forth into town was very convenient, the staff was super friendly and helpful, the restaurant service was excellent as well as the bar service. The only issue I can think of was that the hotel store didn't seem to be open very much while we were there.”

  • Room decoration & liked shuttle to Downtown Newport.
  • Location of room.

“Staff friendly & helpful. Rooms have clean modern decor. Location a bit removed from downtown Newport but hotel provides shuttle which is nice. Pay parking is not a plus. The public areas could use some updated carpet. Overall our stay was very nice and we would stay here again.”

appears at this time, this hotel is going through renovations; however this did not inconvenience us at all with the exception of one side entrance closed so they could install new tile, carpet and redo the walls. The rooms were completely upgraded and spacious. I would recomend this hotel.”

  • I liked the waterfront access.
  • The lack of beauty and romance in the hotel rooms as well as the size of the rooms.

“I was so excited to be staying at a Hyatt for all its hype. But the hotel really didn't live up to my expectations. It is not romantic in the slightest and everything is very modern and square looking. I would recommend it for a business traveler only.”

Service was not so great, our room was not ready when we checked in at 4pm (and they didn't seem so concerned about it, like it was common), we were allowed to use the spa to dress for a wedding where the woman was un-accommodating, distant, and generally not friendly.”

  • Shuttle bus or 15 minute walk to Downtown area.

“Excellent hotel with a 15 minute walk from the Downtown area. The shuttle runs till midnight. There is also a boat shuttle during the daytime. The bar and pool were nice options, but do not compare to the party going on Downtown.”

“Yes, it was under major renovations, BUT the decor (the new decor!) In all the public areas looks like a bad dream. Whatever were they thinking? The room was attractive but lacked thoughtful lighting and had poor seating area.”

  • Location, close to all attractions in Newport ri and the view is nice.
  • The hotel was under major construction ,no lucks in the bathrooms it feels no privacy.

“The hotel was under major construction it was dusty and dirty, we had a tractor and workers under our window room, we were on the ground level, all the public amenities were closed or unsafe because of the renovations, it was a big disappointment for us and the kids, the parking lot that was near our room, was closed till certain hour so, we had to walkthrough all the construction which was very unpleasant but the stuff is very nice, we would not stay there if we would know about the construction even for free, bur we had no choice since we paid so much money.”

  • It was a construction nightmare.

“The hotel was under construction/renovation - a fact we were never warned about. Between the mud, the tents, and the straw on the floor, the drilling, construction equipment and construction workers arguing and swearing in the hallways, and the over-all sense of chaos. I can't even begin to explain what impact the hotel had on us when we arrived. We made a good weekend out of it and the room itself was excellent (although the asbestos warning on the doorway when we entered the stairwell on the 3rd floor made us cringe a little). The staff at the hotel was excellent and the girls at the front desk get an A+ for being just delightful and incredibly funny and friendly.”

  • This hotel was undergoing major construction which we not aware of.

“The shower was cold; the bed was hard and didn't even have a top sheet or comforter. We didn't have a remote for the TV and when we did get one, we had to program it ourselves. We were woken every morning at 8am by the sounds of drills and jack hammers. And the maid only came once during our 4 day stay.”

“The hotel is a renovation disaster zone. All the public areas were closed: pool, restaurants, sauna. The room quality was poor and we were given a room with two double beds even though we asked for a king or a queen. The hotel was half-empty but the staff was not willing to accommodate us anyway. Even though the hotel is located on an island with great water views they managed to stick us in a room with no view which would not bother me normally but there were so few guests there at the time, I could not believe this was the best they could do. On top of all of this they are charging for parking $16 ( this is in the dead of winter, when the whole town of Newport is "free parking" zone. Altogether, I would probably had a better stay at Howard Johnson with a king bed, pool and free parking on the premises. I do not recommend this property.”

  • Water testing caused bathroom water to be a nasty brown color.

“Expected much more from a Hyatt. Water testing throughout the hotel caused the bathroom water to be a nasty brown color so could not shower. Also, there was no cold water-only hot. This test should have been performed on a slow weekday, like a Monday or Tuesday, not a Saturday.”

“They were doing work on the hotel and did not tell us that when we went to our rooms. The water was dirty and we brushed our teeth without realizing it. We called the front desk and said that they had a letter at the front desk about the issue that they were having but neglected to tell us about it. It was very unprofessional.”

“Hotel was very nice. The check-in girl was very rude. The room had two double beds seeing this was an anniversary trip I wanted one bed. Girl was not receptive stated all rooms with one bed sold out for the night. However the young man that I had at check-out was extremely friendly and courtesy. The room was clean and the decor beautiful. The location was outstanding.”

  • Upgraded to a spacious room with comfortable bedding and warmth.
  • Hotel currently under major renovations, so noisy.

“Hotel located on Goat Island in the scenic seaside town of Newport, RI. Although under renovation, they offered a van to the Marriott to use their pool in addition to a shuttle into town. This is a summer destination, so it was very quiet and very cold in January - we were satisfied staying in the room and ordering room service most of the time. Nice staff, but give them some time to finish construction!”

  • Under construction at this time and you have to pay to park.

“Very classy hotel. The food in the restaurant could have been better, however the hotel room was spacious, clean and the bed was very comfortable. It made the weekend very relaxing and enjoyable.”

  • We were given a premium room overlooking the water.
  • The pool was not nice. No hot tub or changing rooms in a 4 star hotel? Thats just weird.

  • It is old, musty, and dirty and extremely overpriced.

“This Hyatt should be a 2 star at a maximum. The hallways, carpets and rooms are old, dirty and musty. There was a leak on our first room (in the first floor, far from the roof!). Facilities, look, smell of the place is disgusting. And it is extremely overpriced for the area. It was so bad we actually forfeited our last day, and went to one of the many excellent bed and breakfasts in the area.”
