- History and architecture.
- Hole in wall in the room. Telephone did not work.
“Obviously this is a first class establishment. However, as I understood from the hotel staff, there are renovations underway. I happened to end up in room where there is the imprint of a man's fist in the wall (hole), and where, after returning on a very cold evening, I could not call the lobby as the telephone did not work. I went down, and the staff was polite and sent up an engineer to check this out.”

- Lobby was worth the stay.
- The air conditioner was broken and there was a portable unit in the floor we had to walk around.
“I would prefer that the room would be in operating order for the price. Duct tape on the window and a portable air conditioner in the floor was not desirable. The lobby and the restaurant were very good. The location was good also. Lot to do.”

- I liked when I checked out.
- Room accommodations, front desk, price.
“Please don't be fooled by the gorgeous and elegant lobby. You may end up with a "deluxe room" just big enough for a king size bed, a bathroom with a cracked sink that leaks all the water into your feet as you brush your teeth and a front desk that invites you to go get your toothpaste downstairs in case you request some. We had the impression we were put into their pet's room, but I think even fife would not like the room. Just in case you are wondering if all this can be true in a hotel with such good reputation, we took some pictures.”

“While the bed allowed for a comfortable sleep, I was woken by a boisterous couple in the next room at 3 am. I was also slightly disappointed by the business accommodations, I left a message with the business center without a return call.”

- The new rooms are very nice
- The older rooms are terrible
“Having just read the reviews, I thought I would add this:
I've stayed at the Biltmore 3 times. The first 2 stays were NOT good - I was given very old rooms/suites which were in serious need of renos. I later learned that there were rooms which had been renovated and we stayed in one in Sprin '04. So BEWARE you must insist on a new room.
By the way no one has reviewed a new hotel - HOTEL PROVIDENCE - 3ll Westminster St. We had a great stay there in Spring '05. Fabulouse restaurant - L'Epicureo - formerly from Federal Hill.”

“The Providence Biltmore is truly a 'grande dame' hotel. The staff is wonderful and helpful, the location is prime, right downtown, a short walk from the new motel and a longer walk or short car ride to either Brown University or Federal Hill restaurants. The guest rooms are clean but a slightly in need of fresh paint and sprucing up. We have stayed here twice and would look forward to staying here again.”

- Had 3 fire alarms during our last night; 3:00 am, etc.
“Staff was scrambling to keep up with the complaints of the guests. Ineffective AC, $22 per night parking charge, and 3 fire alarms in one nights took everyone to the edge. Our second room was acceptable.”

- Conveniently located
- Mattress and pillows were worn out and provided little support and parking was $22.00 a day plus tips every time you took the car out.
“The Biltmore is an older hotel conveniently located in the heart of Providence. The staff is helpful and the rooms clean. The mattress, however had lost its ability to provide support and the pillows were flat as well. Parking costs an additional $20 something a day plus tips for the valet every time you take the car out. Still the beautiful wood varnished lobby and restaurant provide a warmtn as well as a genteel look into what I imagine a gentleman's club might have looked like at the turn of the last century. There is computer access in the lobby for guests to use to check E-Mail or print documents.”

Location:[7]
- The bed was super comfortable
- Large chips of paint in elevator that weren't cleaned up; A breakfast tray that had apparently just sat in front of our room door until the next day
“I was disappointed in this purchase for a couple of reasons. The only reason I even got a hotel room in Providence was so that I wouldn't have to pay for parking while while on a trip leaving TF Green airport. The one hotel I ended up with didn't supply shuttles to the hotel, or free parking. All of the 2 star hotels and the rest of the 3 (including 3-1/2) star hotels supplied all of these amenities, and unfortunately the Providence Biltmore website wasn't clear on that fact. They charged $24 bucks a day for the available valet parking they did have which was almost twice as much as I had to pay if I just parked my car at the airport. The things I liked about the hotel were the McCormick and Shmick's restaurant, the location if I wasn't needing airport arrangements, and the comfy bed and linens.”

Location:[9]
- Terrific Location, Great restaurant onsite
- Only partially renovated. Hallways shabby, rooms terrific
“I was confused by the hotel and how it markets itself through their website as a first class destination. On one hand, the lobby and ambiance when arriving was great. but as I exited the elevator onto my floor, the hall was drab and empty. almost as if it was an old city apartment building. it appeared like much of the hotel had not been renovated after all. just the lobby and the interior of my room. The staff was courteous and helpful. the room very comfortable .but I felt un-comfortable in the big empty un-renovated hallways that appeared deserted on a Wednesday evening during the business week.”

- Beautiful lobby, very helpful staff.
“The Providence Biltmore is a lovely old hotel in downtown Providence with gorgeous interiors and excellent service. The only drawbacks are that due to its age, noise carries easily between rooms, and there is absolutely no affordable parking. Your only option for parking onsite is Valet parking, which is $22.00 a night for hotel guests. Even with a good priceline deal, that makes it a little expensive for the budget-minded traveler.”
