• Beautiful lobby.
• Looks like it is getting old needs revamping.

“The Westin is a beautiful hotel centrally located in downtown providence. It has all the amenities of a Starwood run hotel room service 24 hours, valet, pool, fitness kind and helpful staff. The bed was comfortable, my wife loved it, but not to my preferred taste. The only detractor was the age. The Westin has been opened for some time now and the room was getting a bit run down. Some peeling wall paper, stained fixtures etc that need to be replaced.”

• Great location.
• Elevator was not working, pool/sauna smelled horrific.

“Although the broken elevator was due to a non emergency fire alarm, it took quite a while to have it restored. I understand that it was not the hotels fault, the outside contractor was unable to get all elevators working until the next day. It was a minor inconvenience, however, we were unable to have access to our room for over one hour and it put us in a time crunch for our plans that evening.”

• Bathroom was well appointed, bed was very comfortable, room was spacious, and clean.
• Windows were blocked by a glaze. Could not see outside at all.

“Although a little confusing to find, as the signs outside were not prominent, and getting to the lobby from the parking garage involved asking lots of people and taking elevators and escalators, this hotel was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was well appointed. There was a large flat screen TV and Starbucks coffee available in the room to brew. The only negative in the room was the fact that the windows were covered by a glazed film, so that you could not see outside and had no idea what the weather conditions were (raining, sunny etc). It also made for a claustrophobic feel to the room.”

• Convenient to Water Fire, restaurants and shopping.
• Valet parking was a bit hectic and disorganized.

“Very friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable and well appointed rooms. Great location--a fifteen minute walk to the Italian restaurants on Federal Hill. A great city for walkers.”

• The staff was very friendly; I will never stay in this hotel again.
• Room was very shabby, lots of things broken or did not work.

“The front desk never told us how to get to room, and it took us a half-hour to find the room (the third floor is huge, and the actual guest rooms are in this hidden little alcove behind two fire doors). When we got to the room, the closet door wouldn't open, the bedside lamp didn't even have an electrical outlet, the telephone didn't work and the safe's battery was dead. We ordered breakfast via the breakfast card that you leave on the door and when it was delivered we informed the young lady how unhappy we were with the room; she assured us she would have a manager call us immediately. None called. We were extremely disappointed with the quality of this hotel. As we have stayed at the Westin in New York, we had high expectations. Not only did the hotel not meet those expectations, but it ensured we will be staying at the Marriott from now on.”

• Clean, good location, convenient.
• Not that upscale, view from rooms was poor.

“This hotel is featured in a prime location in downtown providence and is conveniently attached to the mall / conference center. Staff was friendly and accommodating to requests for a room in a quieter location of the hotel. Rooms were clean, but were not up to par with four star accommodations. They were rather sparse and did not offer any luxury beyond the comfortable bed. We did not make use of the amenities such as pool or fitness centers.”

• Great location beside Providence Place Mall.
• Nominal fees for local calls, internet, etc expensive parking, don't touch their refrigerator!

“Valet parking $23 per day plus tips. Self parking is also expensive. The nominal fees for local calls, internet, etc grew tiresome, although they had a stocked mini bar, don't even consider putting your own items in it. They told me at check in that the mini bar has infrared sensors - don't touch anything or you will pay.”

• Huge hotel in a great location. Attractive lobby area.

“Maintenance staff was very helpful in helping us move out of a room they gave us by accident (leaky fridge, no air conditioning and numerous other problems. The carpets were pretty dirty, but the common areas were lovely.”

• Service was top notch. Bedding was excellent.
• The hotel is in need of renovations. Carpets inside and outside the room were full of stains. Bathroom was spotless, but worn-loose baseboards, tiles.

“The Westin in Providence has seen better days. It is clearly in need of renovations. It is very clean and the staff was wonderful, but you can tell that everything is worn, from stains on the carpets to peeling wallpaper.”

• This is minor, but the ice machine was broken on our floor and the pool was very small.

• Spacious room, amazingly comfortable bed.
• No view from room. Retrieving car from valet took too long, and parking was too expensive.

“Fabulous hotel with oversized rooms, oversized bed. Bed was super-comfortable. Room was plush. Lobby was beautiful. Parking too expensive.”

• A/C did not work well, the bed was way too soft and the shower did not drain and I was showering in knee deep water and the TV did not work well.

“A major pain if you stay in east tower to get to restaurant or parking in west tower. The room was clean but the bed was incredibly soft (I have a bad back), the shower did not drain and was standing in ankle deep water, the movie I ordered on the TV stopped in the middle, we called down and were still charged and the AC ran when it chose to-mostly in the middle of the night. Also, very noisy outside our window. I have stayed here before in the west tower and had a very different experience but would not chance it again.”

• The room was large, modern, nicely decorated with a great king size bed and a mini bar.
• Staff was nice but overworked and therefore not as responsive, especially at check in; difficult to find your way around downtown Providence to the hotel.

“Excellent big rooms with modern decorations and really nice king size beds; excellent workout facilities, on a par with a really nice workout club. Indoor pool and hot tub and all exercise facilities you could think of- cardio, weights. It was complete.”

• Staff tried to change us to an inferior room.

“The only way I would go back is to stay in the East Tower. I called in advance to request a room in that tower and was told at check in that they were having AC problems in some of the rooms. After checking into the older tower and finding stains on the bedding, we were switched to the East (no AC problems after all) and it was an entirely different experience. Disappointed that the desk person tried to convince us otherwise. The breakfast buffet at Agora was not worth the $$, neither was the dessert at the other restaurant. A lot of choices in the area - don't waste your $ eating on site.”

• Newly renovated.
• Low ceilings, staff was unaccommodating.

“The hotel is relatively nice, though not as modern/clean as you would expect from the exterior. The staff would not give us an option about bedding. Also, we were put on the top (25th) floor, which was a bit disconcerting and on the opposite side from anything worth viewing. The ceilings seemed awfully low, which gave the overall impression of being perched somewhere. The room and bathroom itself was nice enough, although the decor seemed to be pretend luxury, which came off a little fake. Certainly a comfortable stay, but nothing spectacular.”

• The room was very nice. Clean. Bed was very comfortable with a down comforter and plenty of pillows.
• Room service food was average.

• The rooms were clean, spacious and 1st class.
• $23.00 a day for valet parking - very unreasonable.

“Location: Perfect. Rooms: Clean, spacious and luxurious. Maid service: exceptional. Restaurants: Great food and value. Lobby: First class. Floor staff need to smile more and show more concern for the guests. The valet charges are exceptionally high. We were there with a party of 8 in 3 rooms and all of us agree with this.”

• Parking was $17-$22/day.

“Nice place, went for wedding; rooms were nice; concierge was able to give something extra for the bride/groom - but 5 strawberries and a small bottle of champagne for $110. Staff was extra nice and accommodating. Weird thing - needed an extra room for one of the days, call from room - they had no space/sold out. Overall very satisfied. Had room next to the street- but couldn't hear the traffic at all. Could be floor was higher.”

• Excessive pricing on mini-bar items. Not walking accessible to downtown attractions other than the Mall.

• Hotel staff were very responsive to our requests.
• Some street noises amplified into the room, even on 15th floor.

“Beautifully appointed room with a contemporary flair comfortable bed with flat screen digital TV. A great hotel to just lay in bed and get room service for a few days. Within walking distance of many restaurants and other things to do. Agora a very good restaurant for a leisurely breakfast, and staff were extremely helpful and friendly.”

• Skywalk to Providence Place was convenient. Also since I needed to come and go several times the valet parking was quick and convenient.

“We have stayed at this hotel before, the location is excellent and the rooms are clean and updated. Very comfortable beds and a pleasant staff. Did I mention Location! Smack in the middle of restaurants, shopping and Performing Arts Centers.”

• The pool was a little bit dirty and kind of small.

“Stayed in beautiful suite. The view was fantastic and the room was clean and it had great lighting and great furniture. Heavenly Bed was so comfortable. The double show head was so relaxing and felt so good on my back. The pool was a little bit small and a little bit dirty though. Overall I had a great stay at the Westin in Providence.”

“The Westin is probably the nicest hotel in the city. The lobby, common area and rooms are very well decorated and clean. The hotel is attached to the providence place mall via a Skybridge and next to Waterplace Park. Federal hill is a cab ride away for dining.”

• Beautiful lobby.
• Room seemed not as modern as expected.

“The hotel is in a prime location with a walk bridge to the huge mall there in providence. It, however, lacked comfort in the room itself. The phone didn't work, the shower seemed dirty and the twin heads were mounted incorrectly (they leaked). I was impressed with everything about the hotel except the room itself.”

• Pool out of order until early December.

“My wife expected a certain level of service at a Westin and unfortunately, we were disappointed. Pool was under renovation and we were told we could go to the Courtyard or Hilton a few blocks away. Not a very good suggestion when its winter in New England. Hotel staff unhelpful and manager did not return calls!”
