• The friendliness of the staff, and its located right downtown.
• The bathrooms could be a little cleaner.

“A group of my colleagues came to Hartford on a business trip and we stayed at the Crown Plaza. We had a comfortable stay, it was right off the highway and they offered complimentary shuttle service anywhere downtown. The staff was excellent, very hospitable ! We were greeted as soon as we entered the hotel.”

• Location was central to all major roadways as well as excellent restaurants, entertainment and points of interest.
• Only one operating ice machine on the first 10 floors.

“Rooms were nicely appointed, as were the well stocked and clean bathrooms. The food in the restaurant was excellent, as was the service (Jose). Overall, a nice hotel (2.5 stars) in a great location in Downtown Hartford.”

• Not clean human hair found in pack containing toiletries on bed which was disgusting.

“At first it appeared to be clean but the bathroom waste basket etc was dirty. Also, there was a complementary bag of articles on the bed when we arrived and upon opening it there was approx 8 strands of human hair in it. also, coffee pot was not clean.”

• The location was excellent and the front desk did get us a room with a sofa bed.
• The sofa bed was really old and broken. It was worse than you would expect from a cheap motel.

“I would not recommend this hotel. We weren't able to get two beds because they were sold out. We talked with another guest who had made their reservation months in advance and requested 2 double beds and got a king. So they were in the same boat we were. The king bed we had was great-FOR ONE OF US. But the sofa bed-which apparently we were lucky to get-was atrocious. On top of that our phone never worked. We talked to the front desk twice and even witnessed them calling for service, but it didn't get fixed.”

“Tiles in bathroom were missing. Toilet didn't flush well. Poor sound proofing between rooms and from noise in corridor.”

• Every member of the staff was friendly and had the best room service ever.
• Location was pretty weird. Could not walk into Town because of highways.

“I cannot stress how friendly the staff was. Everyone from the front desk to parking attendant was there to make your stay comfortable. Excellent customer service. Location was difficult because it is tucked between major highways so you cannot walk anywhere, but they offer free shuttle so it's not a huge issue. I also want to point out room service. I ordered a sandwich that came with fries and the fries arrived piping hot, that never happens and the food was actually very good.”

• Average rooms, nothing special, small bathrooms, no fan, paid internet access.

“Crowne Plaza Hartford is an OK place to stay. If you're looking for reasonable rates, clean, relatively modern accommodations, and a convenient, safe location it's a great choice. If you're looking for WOW! Look elsewhere. The rooms are very "average." The bathrooms are small and there are no exhaust fans. Heater runs either super hot or super cool. The air was incredibly dry. Nice view of downtown Hartford and the First Night fireworks display.”

• The opening hour for the restaurant.

“The accommodations were good as was the location. I checked on the restaurant around 6:15 am and it had not opened. Given the need to reach the Logan airport, I left before it opened thus depriving myself of breakfast. When asking the desk attendant about coffee, encountered a negative attitude.”

• I could see the hotel, but it was difficult to figure out to get to it.

“The hotel is a high rise at the edge of downtown. The rooms are spacious and have every amenity. The beds are extremely comfortable, with very nice linens and pillows. If you have a car, parking is $15 extra.”

• Ambience view was construction site but this is obviously temporary.

“The room was spacious and clean, the pillows more "downy" and comfortable than most, and the service staff pleasant and accommodating. The hotel is located across the highway from local theater and restaurants but it is still only a couple of blocks across an overpass to reach those sites. Construction next door might obstruct the view of the city across the highway but will improve the general location.”

• The beds were comfortable.

“I booked a non stop flight from san Francisco to Boston. When I arrived at the airline I found out that the flight had a stop in Pittsburgh. I could have booked a non stop flight with jet blue for 30 dollars less. I have never experienced a change in flight plans. I wanted to exchange for a mini van. I received an email offering a mini van for $23 per day. I thought an exchange for a less expensive model shouldn't have been out of the realm. Needless to say my total experience was very unsatisfactory and I will make sure my experience is known to my colleagues.”

• We had a malfunctioning in-room safe; they fixed as soon as they were notified. Ate lunch there; surprisingly good!
• I mistakenly left a piece of medical tubing for cap machine; called them to check the room after our departure 2 times. Housekeeping not calls back.

“Nice location to the citys social and business areas. Rooms were recently redone and were very comfortable. Staff was very accommodating during our stay. Only problem was receiving a call back from them after our departure regarding a medical item we suspected we accidentally left behind in the room. We purposely rejected eating in their restaurant; we caved and ate a lunch there just prior to checking out; the food was fresh, ingredient choice was excellent, and we were pleasantly surprised with the quality.”

“This was a very nice and clean hotel. The only thing I did not like after getting a great rate was being charged $15/day for parking and $5/min. For phone calls. That great rate went away quickly. I would recommend this hotel, just don't bring your car and stay off the phone.”

“While this is a downtown hotel, it's just far enough off the beaten path to not be convenient. It's just across a major highway that separates it from downtown. Walking did not appear to be safe after dark. The walk to public transportation would be distant and uphill. Downtown parking makes driving to "nearby" eateries and points of interest a bad option. The hotel has no gift shop for snacks and sundries. Ice and soft drinks are on alternating floors. I encountered several people on a quest for ice and soft drinks because the machines were out of order on many floors. Of the hotels in this chain in which I have stayed, this is the least appealing. There are worse options, but this was far below the expectations of the advertised location and the brand. The hotel charges for parking in a very tight garage.”

• The bed was extremely comfortable. The room was comfortably sized.
• The bathroom needs updating. The ceiling was peeling and the tile in the shower did not appear to be clean. Parking fees $15 per night.

“A few short blocks to downtown Hartford, the Crowne Plaza was comfortably appointed. There is a shuttle available sometimes; it was not for us. The rooms were clean and comfortable but the bathrooms were not equally attractive. It needs some updating as the paint was peeling from the ceiling and the shower looked quite dirty. Parking is $15/night and the garage is not locked or guarded.”

• Loved the room. Clean, comfortable and TV service good.
• Unable to have full breakfast on Sunday. Grill at bar was good but not open all the time. Very disappointing.

“Bad thing, once you come off the ramp, difficult to find the entrance of the hotel garage. Both my guest and I, who traveled from different directions on 84, got lost trying to find the entrance and ended up in an area that made me, as a single woman, very nervous,. Was not aware of the night charge for the garage that ended up being an extra charge for 2 cars. Restaurant was not open in the morning for breakfast or dinner only for lunch which we were not in the hotel to see if that it ever opened. Hotel did offer continental breakfast. My overall opinion, disappointed.”

• Because of the configuration of downtown Hartford, access was difficult to find.

“The rooms are lovely and appear to be recently redone. The in room entertainment includes selections of Indian films instead of only the box office favorites.”
