“Nice lobby. Unhelpful and misleading front desk and shuttle service. Rooms are average to above average. TV's do not receive even common channels such as ABC & ESPN clearly and they could use an upgrade. Great value for a mid-tier hotel although you may find hotels with better location & amenities nearby.” Dec 1, 2009 by
Annette from West Springfield,MA
“Ok for business travelers, weekend getaways, could not control the Nov 18, 2009 by

“Not a 3.5 star would rate as a 2 or 2.5. Bathrooms need to be redone. Old and outdated rooms.” Nov 3, 2009 by
Judy from Bluffton,SC
“Great location to all freeways, businesses, railway station. Comfortable rooms, great view to the east. Very attentive staff.

“I was in town for a wedding and felt the hotel that the bride and groom had suggested was overpriced, for what it was. So I named my own price and got the Crowne Plaza for more than half the price of the other. I was very pleased. It looked new and very clean. It was across the street from the other hotel where all of our friends were. Everyone at the front desk was nice. And parking was free on weekends, which was a nice surprise. Overall good stay.” Oct 8, 2009 by
Debbie from Fair Lawn,NJ
“Would definitely stay here again.” Oct 6, 2009 by

“Very nice stay, hotel met expectations and would certainly stay there again.” Sep 4, 2009 by
Laurena from Whitman,MA
“Hartford is not a destination for a vacation. Our hotel looked out on a scary abandon lot, there was only an out door pool at the hotel, our room although it was a smoking room- smelled extremely bad of bad perfume and stale smoke. The bathroom was dirty- the grout was nasty and mildewed. Overall pretty poor for the star rating it's given.” Aug 31, 2009 by
Mikiko from Glen Rock,NJ
“If you don't need internet access at a hotel room, probably it is a very good place to stay.” Aug 27, 2009 by
Kevin from Whittier,CA
“Nice, clean, well-appointed hotel. Service was fantastic. It is across the freeway from the downtown core, but still only a short walk.” Aug 26, 2009 by
Sonia from Topsfield,MA
“Nice rooms, mostly updated. Super friendly and helpful staff.” Aug 26, 2009 by

“It was nice, clean & friendly.” Aug 26, 2009 by

“This hotel was convenient and easy to find although it is off the highway and so out of the way for any walking to a restaurant and on a Saturday night the hotel restaurant was not open.” Aug 17, 2009 by
Peter from Williamsport,PA
“The service was great, the food was good, the only downside is the location and the cost of parking.” Aug 2, 2009 by

“The Crown Plaza in downtown Hartford is the ideal place for the business traveler on a limited travel budget. With the deep discounts available through Priceline.com, this hotel is an incredible bargain. The rooms are basic yet clean and completely comfortable. The baths have been updated with marble counter tops and rainfall showerheads, nice touches for sure, especially when the bathrooms are otherwise small and rather ordinary. If you're looking for luxury, romance, or ultra-modern amenities the Crown Plaza is not the place. If you're looking for a nice, clean, quiet, safe business class hotel to spend a few nights choose the Crown Plaza. The main lobby is attractive and comfortable. The restaurants are open late and serve a nice variety of food including an array of sushi items prepared by the hotel's own resident sushi chef. There is a fitness center with treadmills, elliptical trainers and weights so you can get your workout in while you travel. A complimentary shuttle is available to drop guests anywhere in the immediate downtown area. The shuttle also runs to Bradley airport several times each day. While there is a charge, it is significantly less than the cost of a taxi. Though chances are you won't rave about your stay at the Crown Plaza for years to come, you certainly won't complain about it either. As an individual who has traveled extensively throughout the US and Europe, I can honestly say that my stay at the Crown Plaza was perfectly and completely adequate in every regard. While it's not a hotel I'd write home about, it is a hotel that I would recommend to business travelers or leisure travelers coming to the Hartford area for a short stay. The great deals available on Priceline make the Crown Plaza an outstanding value.” Jul 29, 2009 by

“Here were my complaints for this hotel: 1. When my bus arrived in Hartford we called for a shuttle and were told it would be there within 5 minutes. After waiting 45 and 2 failed attempts at recalling we decided to walk the mile to the hotel. It was 90 degrees out and we have well over 75lbs of baggage with us. 2. Upon arrival there was a line to be checked in with only one person working. We stood in line with our bags, sweating everywhere, for 45 minutes. 3. We asked the woman at the front desk upon check in if the shuttle could give us a ride to a CVS or Rite Aide and she told us to go ahead and get our stuff in the room then call down when we wanted the ride. When we called down 15 minutes later, the woman who answered said their was no shuttle on the weekends. 5. We got directions from the front desk to CVS and after walking the mile to get there, find out they have been closed for 3 months+. 6. Got directions from the front desk to the concert Arena, and was sent in the opposite direction, up a 1/4 mile long hill. After walking 30 minutes we realized we must be lost and got better directions, this caused us to be late, and anyone with pit tickets to a rock concert can tell you; that means your seat will be gone. 7. After the show we wanted a shower and upon getting out of the shower I fell on the slippery tiles (since when is there no mats or anything) and bruised the kneecap, normally this wouldn't be too big of a deal, however I have hurt my knee severely before and it was already waiting for surgery this winter, my falling has made it worse and I can't walk correctly on it. 8. At 9 am the next morning we decided to go for a swim, the pool was still locked up (and hour after it should have been opened) and then it took a maintenance main 20 minutes to show up to open it. When we finally got outside we were disgusted to find a cigar wrapper floating in the pool. 9. Our white bedding had stains on it, our towels felt more like sandpaper, our pillows were like rocks wrapped in cheap cotton, our thermostat took 3 hours to kick in (and when its still 80 degrees and you've been dancing for 5 hours, you just want some damn AC. I will never stay in this hotel again.” Jul 28, 2009 by

“great price with many amenties” Jun 11, 2009 by

“The hotel is a perfect on off of the highway and close to local concerts.” May 26, 2009 by
Jim from Milford,CT
“Everything was perfect other than the shower, which seemed like it needed a face lift.” May 15, 2009 by
Dominick from Stratford,CT
“Great location for downtown events, super friendly staff.” May 12, 2009 by
Kate from Hudson,IL
“The Crowne Plaza was a great experience. In fact, it was such a positive experience, I continued to extend my stay for 4 days. I would highly recommend this hotel!” Apr 23, 2009 by
Dottie from Philadelphia,PA
“The hotel staff (front desk) was extremely pleasant. However once entering the room, all went downhill. The shower had mold appearances throughout the tile and the mattress cover barely covered the very old worn mattress. I felt something biting me through the night. I was disappointed in this three star hotel.” Apr 20, 2009 by
Gail from Belmont,VT
“Convenient, clean, good for business - although a little noisy, as it's close to the highway.” Dec 4, 2008 by
Michael from Lee,MA
“I highly recommend this hotel for couples and business travelers. The staff is so friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my short stay so much. We went to see a show at the XL center.” Nov 14, 2008 by
Brent from Chicago,IL
“The Crown Plaza, Hartford provides all of the basics and has some nice extras for the business traveler. Free Wi-Fi in the rooms was extremely convenient and the business center is set up well and efficiently run. The businesses and restaurants of downtown Hartford are a short walk away and the staff was courteous and helpful.” Nov 12, 2008 by
brett from Portsmouth,RI
“Noisy, noisy, noisy. I think the hotel tried--there were earplugs and a facemask in the hotel and a clip to keep the curtains closed, but the hotel was built so close to the overpasses that it is like sitting in the middle of the road all night. Noisy.” Oct 29, 2008 by
John
“The bed was comfortable and plenty of linens on it. The room was not cleaned well (there were leftover food containers in one of the dresser drawers), the bathroom was very rundown and the noise from highway was very loud. I also hated having to use the room key in the elevator to get to my room. This was a huge inconvenience!” Oct 15, 2008 by

“Good location for downtown Hartford, but the hotel is very tired and the staff isn’t helpful.

“Overall, a very nice attractive hotel and very nice room. No continental breakfast offered and very close to the highway. Within walking distance of the main road and dining. Strange musty odor in lobby and hallways. Would stay there again.” Sep 14, 2008 by
Roger from Beverley, MA
“An upgraded Holiday Inn.” Sep 5, 2008 by
Bill from Newton, MA
“Ok just a little off the path.” Aug 30, 2008 by
Jennifer from Hatboro, PA
“The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. The rooms were spacious, clean, inviting. I will highly recommend this hotel to my friends if they are ever in the Hartford, CT area.” Aug 18, 2008 by
Dave from Brooklyn, NY
“The cable TV needs improvement, lacks channels. The rooms are nice though. Beds are very comfortable with lots of pillows. I didn't like the elevator system where you had to continually use your room key to access floors, but, with the murder rate in Hartford, I suppose it might be necessary.” Aug 15, 2008 by
Edward from Van Nuys, CA
“Clean and close to downtown. Staff was very friendly.” Aug 14, 2008 by
Pam from Prospect, CT
“We stayed at this hotel because of it's proximity to the Dodge Center. We walked to the concert, but the shuttle was sitting in the driveway and could have driven us! The hotel was ok, however, when I check out and told them of our problem with the bathroom, I was thanked for letting them know. I was expecting some kind of compensation for our troubles.” Aug 7, 2008 by
Carlos from Port Washington, NY
“Great price, nice hotel. Short walk to Convention Center. Free shuttle bus also nearby. Not a bad place to rest for the weekend.” Aug 5, 2008 by
Steve from Snellville, GA
“Overall, the hotel is ok but certainly not a 3 star. The downtown location is not great (typical inner city issues) and I had many problems getting the staff to unlock my phone for local calls. Internet service was poor.” Aug 3, 2008 by
Mike from Intervale, NH
“Expensive to park $15 per day.” Jul 31, 2008 by
Ken from St.Louis, MO
“Don't have to worry about me for a return visit!” Jul 31, 2008 by
Anne from Oak Park, IL
“This hotel is quiet, attractive, friendly staff and the beds were very comfortable. For guests who do not mind being slightly off the focus of downtown events, this is a pleasant place to stay. I would be cautious walking to it at night, however, as it is isolated with no foot traffic around.” Jul 17, 2008 by
Jo from Rumson, NJ
“Clean, good location, helpful staff, good fitness room. I would return.” Jul 9, 2008 by
Rafi from Rochester, MN
“Not truly welcoming staff. They totally seemed exhausted. I'll not stay in this hotel.” Jun 15, 2008 by

“Great location, room very clean, staff was helpful. Just too noise didn't sleep well.” May 28, 2008 by
Walter from Auburn, MA
“Would not stay there again.” May 27, 2008 by
Kathleen from Framingham, MA
“When we got there it took about 20 minutes to get us checked in and we were the only people in line. If you have children, this is not the hotel for you. There is nothing, not even anything for them to eat there. The pool area wasn't open to even get some air. The employees were slow and looked at you as if you didn't matter.” May 13, 2008 by
Stacey from Lafayette, IN
“The staff was very nice and the room clean. It was very quiet and relaxing.”
