• Room was unusually quaint; also good continental breakfast.
• Gym facilities were underwhelming.

“Well situated for the long wharf theater and the new haven wharf, this is an excellent, clean and friendly place to stay. The rooms were even a little snazzier than your typical fare, with a kind of partition giving it a homier feel. Shuttle bus service makes it easy to get to downtown new haven, and in nicer weather it's a fine walk. Very much recommended.”

• The hotel runs a free shuttle with drop-off/pick up service. I saved a ton of money in cab fare.
• The bathrooms could use some updating, clean but a bit worn down. Needs new caulking.

“This hotel is great for visiting Yale or downtown new haven, close by and with a free shuttle to get back and forth. The connected restaurant had good food at a reasonable price. The room was average, but clean and functional. Free wireless internet access and a free printer in the lobby was also a plus. The breakfast was fine, and included with the room. The staff was friendly and helpful.”

• Great courtesy shuttle service and friendly staff next to Ikea.
• Surrounding area loading zone, however 3 minutes from train station by cab.

• It was convenient, off highway.
• Parking area behind hotel not well lit.

• Low ceilings in hallways-for a 6'4" man, there is barely clearance!

“The staff was pleasant, and the room adequately furnished. Bed was very comfortable. Unfortunately, housekeeping was not very thorough, as I found crumbled bacon on the carpeting between beds. Any attempt at vacuuming would have removed that. Towels were adequate and clean. Water pressure was fine. Overall a decent stay. I would stay again, but I'd be inclined to complain about cleanliness if the problem recurred.”

• This hotel had the finest, most extensive "included breakfast " we have seen anywhere. It included hard boiled eggs, yogurt, waffles, fruit, and more.
• Shampoo and soap, and hair dryer were provided, but also needed hand lotion.

“This hotel was a very comfortable place to stay while we visited our son. We very much enjoyed the wonderful breakfast, the friendly staff, and cozy bed.”

“They had breakfast included. This really surprised me and it wasn't just donuts and coffee. It was a really nice breakfast. Overall, I liked the hotel and they were very friendly.”

• The room was spacious and comfortable. Also, the continental breakfast was excellent.
• The staff was often a bit rude, though they did give me help when needed.

“The room was spacious and comfortable. I particularly liked the free wireless internet access, which was important for the work I was doing in the area. Also, the continental breakfast was excellent, featuring everything from bagels and muffins to yogurt to waffles. And probably the best thing was the free shuttle between both the train station and Yale University or downtown. The only drawbacks were that the staff was a little rude at times, though they did provide me help when needed, and the location of the hotel is not convenient to downtown or Yale, though that was obviously okay with the shuttle service.”

• Rooms were small

“For the money $55 it was very good. Rooms were small but comfortable. Good water pressure. Wireless internet. Great free breakfast downstairs. Service was good and staff was responsive.”

• Location was perfect for our needs on this trip.
• Some parking was in not well lit area

“For the price, the quality was excellent. Continental breakfast was really a full breakfast; rooms were clean; had all amenities you'd expect in a higher rated property. This is not a luxury hotel, by any means, but definitely more than adequate for a business traveler or even as a vacationer. Very accessible to downtown Yale without the parking hassle.”

• Worst bed I've ever slept in.

“The bathroom was in need of after contractor cleanup. Mattress was extremely too soft. Pillows were smothering. Sheets too thin and tangling. Shower water temp indicator was backwards...hot was cold. Vending machines were on every OTHER floor NOT mine.”

• rooms are basic, not fancy, although spacious

• For the price, it was all you could ask for.
• Bathrooms seemed a little under par.

“Fairfield Inn New Haven was a pleasant experience, especially in a blizzard. The price was right and the rooms were above acceptable. Even free Wifi was an unexpected treat. It didn't seem like the cleanest hotel I've been in, but it was definitely not an issue for a one-night stay.”
