  • This was a older hotel with lots of charm and personality!
  • Paid parking across the street, location, nothing was within walking distance.

“If I ever went to New Haven would stay here again. The staff was friendly. Remodel was going on, would like to see the final touches. The Starbucks coffee was served in the Lobby in the am was nice.”

  • Low price, great location, parking across the street.
  • decor horrid, business center a joke, it looks old and worn.

“The staff was very friendly and polite and very helpful. The location was great, right in the middle of everything. Parking across the street was very convenient. The business center was a joke. The screen flickered off and on, no fax machine or other technology support. I chose not to bring a lap top for easy of travel and expected a decent business center. It was 1 computer with a wacky screen which kept going in and out and a printer that hardly worked. I had to drive to a library to finish my business report.”

  • There was no refrigerator or free parking. We had to pay $15 parking at garage.

“I prefer motels which have free parking. Most hotels have either no facilities for parking or charge extra for parking. Otherwise, the hotel was very good.”

“A man in the next room kept me up all night. The night desk attendant couldn't speak English, so he sent what looked like maintenance man to provide security. He knocked at the door next to us and then walked away. The worst hotel I have stayed in for a long time. Unhelpful staff and dirty place.”

“The breakfast area on second floor was very nice, but they only serve breakfast and at the restaurant you can enter the catwalk over to the second floor of the parking garage, but the door locks and you then have to go downstairs to walk across the street. The bed wasn't too bad, but not the pillow top type.”

“Very old and dirty. The hotel has a $12.00 a day charge for parking that they do a poor job of explaining. The hotel restaurant charges $10.00 per person for continental buffet that can be had at most hotels for nothing. This hotel should be avoided!”

  • They allowed me to store luggage after check out.
  • It was filthy, worn out, smelled like a basement.

“This hotel had to be one of the most disgusting places I've ever stayed in. The entire hotel is decorated in like the Shady Rest from Petticoat Junction days. Our room had spots and stains on a clearly ancient pink carpet. The fabric on the sofa was so dirty and had so many water spots. One bedspread was so threadbare that I could see my hand through the 3 inch hole. The pictures on the wall were cardboard reproductions of the creepiest early American paintings my daughter and I had ever seen. She actually emailed a photo of one of them to her friends to confirm her assessment that the room was horrible. Teenage daughter slept in sweat pants and sweat shirt with a hood over her head because she was terrified of bed-bugs (which there were none found). Card-key entry to room took 6 to 8 tries to work. Air conditioner system ran continuously and sounded like a wind tunnel. Room smelled like a wet dog. Dryer in room did not work, thank goodness I had my own. If we had not arrived at the hotel so late in the evening and I was unfamiliar with the city, I would have packed up my bags the moment I walked into the room. Daughter had college interview the next day and we decided to write the experience off. Out of a four city tour, this was the worst of the hotels by far and the most expensive. I'd rather sleep in the park under a cardboard box.”

  • Room was had very stained (oils, foods and sun-bleached) furniture and a musty smell.

“Not impressed! I expected the room to at least be clean given the usual price for rooms at this hotel. The room was very small and the amenities were very limited. The chair and sofa were both badly stained with what appeared to be hair oil (given location on the chair), food residue and sun bleaching. The sun bleaching would not have bothered me without the other obviously dirty stains. The bed appeared to be clean, but I was a little nervous about it. The location is great, however.”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[7] • Location:[9]

  • The location of the hotel was convenient.
  • I did not like paying $18 a day for valet parking at the hotel or $12 for self parking down the street.

“The hotel is located downtown. It is convenient to Yale and the expressway. The rooms were average size, and only have a shower. I was in two different rooms during the week and both had only a shower. The parking situation is poor. Plan on spending $12 to $40 per day for parking depending on how often you leave the garage. The hotel charged $4 per hour or each part there of and the garage down the street charges $2 per hour or part thereof. The maximum charge at the hotel is $18 per day and $12 at the garage. There is a lot down the street that is $10. Since this is a hotel, keep this in mind. If you need to come and go a lot stay at a motel. The wireless internet, though free, does not work well on the 7th floor. It was fine on the 6th.”

“This hotel has a very nice lobby, and very friendly staff. It's on the edge of the Yale neighborhood, kind of feels like its falling off the edge, actually. There was a lot of street construction going on around, which as a bit annoying, but it wasn't completely obnoxious. The room was old fashioned, but not shabby. Very clean. The hotel was very close to the train station, which I used to take the train into NYC while I was there. There are a lot of very nice, original, restaurants all within 2 or 3 blocks. It seemed like there were a lot of shops, as well, but I was never around when they were open.”
