• The staff made every effort to provide excellent service.
• The carpets were wet from cleaning and our feet got dirty walking on them.

“For a base of operations to access nearby attractions this hotel was conveniently located. The parking was not very good and there's no place to safely park and unload the kids and/or luggage. The breakfast room is tiny and overcrowded. The carpets were wet when we checked in from being shampooed and our feet got black stains on the bottom from walking barefoot. Our AC didn't work when we arrived, but a friendly and unobtrusive maintenance person came and fixed it very quickly. We only got one wash cloth and 2 towels per room and when we requested more they had to take them from one of the rooms because they didn't have enough to give out extras. The staff was very helpful and friendly and made what might have been a disappointing stay bearable.”

• 9:00 AM ran out of coffee for breakfast.

“Generally a great location. However, first morning no coffee at 9:00 a.m. and were advised they would not be making more. Lots of people there too. Second morning, ran out of lots of food items and very slow filling things up. Lots and lots of people waiting for breakfast. Breakfast room is quite small for size of hotel.”

• Clean and comfortable right in the center of Rutland.
• The curse is the benefit. Too many kids by the pool.

“This is the place we stay when my husband and I stay in Rutland. It's clean, comfortable, and right in Rutland, across from the fairgrounds. Even nicer is the fact that they're just across the parking lot from the fantastic South Station restaurant, and Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream store. For the price it's the best value in Rutland.”

• The bed was very comfortable and bathroom clean.

“This hotel was great for the price. If I had paid for a three star hotel the only thing that would have been different is probably a slightly bigger room and a restaurant and bar inside. Perfect for a business traveler like me. Also, all restaurants and bars close by.”

• The bed was a little hard at first. Good for bad backs.

• Staff was very friendly although I ended up with a smoking room; they did their best to reduce the effect.
• Asked for no-smoking room the day before, they were unable to comply.

“This was a last minute trip (one day notice) from Maine to Vermont. During the height of foliage season. Was extremely surprised to get a room, let alone a room with a great discount. Was further surprised when we checked in and found out the hotel was full. The staff was very nice and welcomed us. Unfortunately the only room available was a smoking room. Even though the night before we requested a non-smoking room and was told that it would probably be available. The hallway had a strong smoke odor and I thought we were in for a very rough night. The staff however placed a machine in the room that is supposed to eat smoke-smell. The machine as well as not a bad smoke problem in the room to begin with makes the room acceptable. During check-in they gave 10% off coupons to several restaurants nearby. We took advantage of one and it was a very nice. Breakfast at the hotel the next day was acceptable but not good, minimum items, and all but two were cold. Overall I would stay here again, but I would cross my fingers that I would get a non-smoking room.”

• Pillows were lumpy and threadbare.

“Everything was great, except the pillows. We had our own in car, and used those instead, so everything worked out well. Very nice hotel, clean, nice amenities. Continental breakfast had pastries, juice, cereal, make you own waffles, boiled eggs, fruit, etc.”

• The temp in the pool area, the view from our room and the hotel needs some work.

“The hotel was a little run down. The view from our room was awful. We got there early so we could spend the afternoon at the pool but it was so hot in the pool area that we could not stay in there. There was no good place to sit outside and read. We won't stay there again.”

• The room was very pretty and super clean.
• The hotel is located behind a bunch of shops, which is not the best way to be situated.

“This hotel has the prettiest rooms and they're very clean. The hotel staff is friendly, and wifi and a good continental breakfast are included. The pool looks great, although I didn't use it. The only drawback is that the hotel is situated behind a bunch of stores, which isn't the greatest setup, but you feel safe nonetheless in the parking lot.”

• The pool and hot tub are great, breakfast has waffles.
• Not very much parking where you have to enter with your luggage.

“I would rate this a 2 star hotel. Perhaps it gets the 2.5 star because of the indoor pool and hot tub. However, the rooms and other details are fairly like a 2 star.”

• The location would be good for a good motel, but not this current motel.
• Just about everything.

“Booked a queen non smoking room in supposedly newly renovated motel. Not. Same bath tile, crumbling -- bathroom about 38" wide. Sit on toilet; you're practically in the shower. Carpet areas showed lack of cleaning as did bath. Sink area is also very small -- no room to move. No towel bar, etc. Very small. Barely big enough for one person never mind a couple or family. Room smelled -- was not fresh. So called "new" mattress hard as a rock. Between hard mattress and outside noise, could not sleep. A/c would not cool room below 72 degrees despite it being 32 degrees outside after the sun set. Window would not open. Was to have stayed 3 days -- cancelled first night and moved to glens falls quality inn. Much, much nicer. Normal size bath area. Also comfort inn at trolley square is not handicap friendly -- 2 or 3 parking spaces for a 100 plus room motel -- 3 doors to open just to get into hallway where room was located -- a big disappointment! Will never go back there again! Would not recommend. They need to clean up their act. I asked at the desk about where to part for handicapped parking space, girl said "sorry"! That's real customer service (not). They do not appear to give a darn. I left without getting the "free" breakfast (which is served in another building on the third floor) very illogical and inconvenient...”

• They charged us for putting a cot in although we had booked and paid for a room for 3.

“We booked and paid for a room for three adults- when we got arrived there was only one bed. They charged us extra for a cot! Hot tub was not working- never got hot even after maintenance tried to fix it. Major disappointment.”

• It was clean, had a nice continental breakfast, staff was very pleasant.
• Is not very visible from the main road and not enough parking.

“This hotel was very clean and newly renovated. Staff was very friendly and helpful. They offer a great continental breakfast with baked goods, a Belgian waffle maker, hard boiled eggs, hot and cold cereals, etc. Finding the hotel is not easy with one small logo sign to be seen from the main road. It is located in the rear of some rather depressed looking buildings and the lot is not well kept. Parking is scattered throughout several surrounding areas and in between businesses. We would return again in a minute though, the hotel was not a disappointment.”

“The hotel was nice. My son enjoyed the indoor pool. The staff was very friendly and it was close to the ski mountain and several restaurants. The ice machine however was very annoying when we were trying to sleep.”

“Good location in downtown Rutland. I was at the hotel for five nights, but as my days were long I was at the hotel only from 9 pm to 6:30 am each day. It filled my needs for this business trip.”

• The heated pool is awesome!
• The entrance to the hotel was confusing.

“Room was basic but clean and comfortable. The heated pool is not to be missed. The water really is warm, unlike other hotels that claim to have heated pools. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I would stay here again.”

• Exit doors on each floor are noisy.

“Matched expectations. Great value for money. Would stay here again. If u get a room next to the exit doors at each floor ask them to change you. I heard a guest complaining that there are no stoppers on the door and hence it slams every time someone uses it which is a lot considering that the access to the elevators are thru the doors. Overall excellent place, great location, courteous staff, very decent breakfast.”

• High quality of accommodation, and what could have been an excellent breakfast.
• When I asked why there were no eggs at breakfast, I was told casually, without apology, that "they hadn't delivered any".

“Excellent quality and value. My only complaint was the absence of eggs advertised in the breakfast room, and the casual way I was told there weren't any. There's a huge Hanna fords just up the street; why couldn't someone just run up there and get some!”
