“Overall, I am satisfied with the conditions and cleanliness of the hotel and would not mind staying another day.” Jul 10, 2008 by
Tamika from Massapequa, NY
“This used to be my favorite hotel, when it was owned by the Westin. I did not particularly care for my stay because the bathroom had someone contact lens on the sink. Housekeeping did not pick up the room service food from Breakfast (we check in at 8 pm).” Jul 9, 2008 by
Victor from Northbrook, IL
“Minor issues bring this hotel down. First room key did not work. No regular coffee in room only decaf. No iron in room. Concierge on 10th floor closed on Thursday morning no explanation given. My wife ordered her eggs fried not poached with extra hollandaise sauce and breakfast came out with eggs poached no extra sauce. Hotel staff rectified each issue but it gets tiring having to call the front desk and send food back morning and night. I will go back to the Hyatt in Greenwich before coming back to this property.” Jun 16, 2008 by
Margaret from Baltimore, MD
“This is a nice hotel, conveniently located near the Stamford train station. The staff is really nice and friendly and while it is undergoing renovations, you'd hardly know it. It's not the most scenic of areas. Nothing is really in safe walking distance (a mall is close but there are some heavy traffic streets to cross). Nice and quiet - no real city noise. Highly recommend it.” Jun 9, 2008 by
Jocelyn from Medford, MA
“I usually take advantage of hotel work out facilities and pool, but I did not this time. The work out facility is open to the public via memberships and looks like it is an active facility. Looked nice from the outside.” Jun 8, 2008 by
Richard from Newington, NH
“We often stay outside New York city to avoid mind boggling, expensive hotel prices. Stamford is a good bet. 45 mins to NYC and JFK (if traffic is good). A very pleasant and upscale hotel. I got upgraded to a very nice suite. The mini bar was actually reasonably priced wow!” Jun 7, 2008 by
Gary from Marietta, GA
“Now a Hilton, previously a Weston. Friendly, helpful front desk personnel. Nice upgrades in lobby area but the restaurant was a complete disappointment. No mention by the hostess regarding the cost of the buffet, however I stayed here when it was a Weston and the buffet was quite nice, albeit not worth $20. When the bill came we noticed that we had been nailed for $20/person, an outrageous amount considering it was not even on a par with the standard "free" breakfast buffet offered by most Hampton, another Hilton group. Be forewarned about using this restaurant. I'd stay here again.” May 20, 2008 by
Paul from Newington, CT
“Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. The only issue I encountered was a hot water faucet for the bathroom sink was not working properly but I was able to get it to work. I reported it to the desk clerk when I checked out the next day. I have no way of knowing if it was fixed.” May 17, 2008 by
Christo from Basking Ridge, NJ
“Excellent value at an upscale hotel.” May 17, 2008 by
Jim from Plaistow, NH
“Great for the price.” May 16, 2008 by
Lillian from Chatham, NJ
“A very nice hotel. Convenient. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable, with nice decor. I like the complementary bottled water in the room. I look forward to staying there again.” May 8, 2008 by
Dana S. from Edinboro, PA
“The Hilton (formerly the Westin) Stamford is a convenient, well appointed and friendly place to stay.” May 5, 2008 by
Cody from Lewistown, PA
“The hotel was not bad, obviously going through some renovations.” Apr 23, 2008 by
Lynn from New Hyde Park, NY
“Very clean with modern furniture & well laid out for the business traveler. Open spaces & comfortable bed for sleeping.” Apr 6, 2008 by
Larissa from Hamden, CT
“The hotel is lovely, the rooms are very nice and the staff is helpful and courteous. The hotel isn't really close to any restaurants or shopping areas, but those attractions aren't far. I would stay there again for leisure, but not business, because of the 12 dollar charge for internet access and the one computer in the business room.” Mar 24, 2008 by
Cynda from New York, NY
“The is an excellent especially for business travel. The staff is courteous and friendly and the facilities are superb. I highly recommend this hotel.” Mar 19, 2008 by
Cynda from New York, NY
“This is the perfect business hotel. Good service and very comfortable. I would definitely stay there again!” Feb 16, 2008 by
Kai M. from Ithaca, NY
“But when I got there they told me the system only shows 1 night. Although the issue was finally resolved after talking to the manager, it took almost 20 min.” Jan 23, 2008 by
Jamie L. from Pawtucket, RI
“The parking garage is under construction, as are the 9th and 10th floors. I was unaware of any of this prior to my stay. There is a 1/4-mile walk from the parking garage to the hotel. After entering my room, I was surprised to find that the coffee machine had not been emptied, a half-full carafe of coffee was in the machine, as was the coffee grind packet. One of the glasses next to the coffee machine had obviously not been cleaned as it was half-full of water. The other glasses in the room were FILTHY. I was on the 9th floor which again, was under construction. Saturday afternoon there was a lot of loud noise going on from the construction. The people on the floor were very loud! Friday night someone was in the hallway on their cell phone for over 20 minutes, and it was all I could hear as I was trying to sleep. Saturday night around 1:30 am, the heater started banging, I can't even explain the sounds it was making but it lasted until I left Sunday morning. Lastly the complementary lotion in the bathroom was half-empty. I was overall very disappointed in the hotel and the room and honestly the only reason I did not complain was because I got the room for a great price as always. I expected to have a great experience, as I've never stayed at a Westin hotel before and was always under the impression that the Westin was one of the most top-scale hotel chains around. I don't know if maybe I just chose a bad weekend or what but I was very disappointed in the hotel.” Jan 1, 2008 by
Benjamin from Sharon, MA
“A reasonable value given its close proximity to the convenient Metro-North Railroad stop with Expresses to 125 and 42 streets. The shuttle to the station never arrived on multiple occasions, and our first room had a terrible view of discount furniture stored. (We were able to be moved after much confusion.) At the restaurant, one person in our family received their dessert accidentally covered with vinegar instead of chocolate syrup. Our room wasn't cleaned one day and the other day the cleaning solution smelled awful. The room was a bit small but was reasonably comfortable, clean, and nicely decorated. The pool and much of the grounds were under renovation but still open and seemed to be in poor condition.” Jan 1, 2008 by
Susan from Amherst, NH
“Clean, convenient, all needs met free wireless, decent food.” Dec 6, 2007 by
John from Reading, MA
“Facilities were good. Room was small but clean. This is the first time in 10 years that the hotel did not have a continental breakfast. We stay at about hotels a year up and down the east coast. Again I repeat that the staff was very friendly and responsive.” Nov 5, 2007 by
Laura from Ballston Spa, NY
“There is a lot of construction going on in front of the hotel, but it doesn't really effect you. I wouldn't call it luxury, but it was certainly better than a motel.” Oct 31, 2007 by
Tom from Sussex, NJ
“I'm sure this hotel will rate much better when the current renovations are complete. Parking was very inconvenient and far from the hotel access. The restaurant was enclosed by temporary makeshift walls.” Oct 15, 2007 by
Betty from Southfield, MI
“The hotel had stylish furnishings, state of the art exercise equipment and conveniently located near the railroad.” Oct 13, 2007 by
Harvey from Long Beach, CA
“Hotel is undergoing major renovation into 2008. No one warned me. It took me nearly 2 hours to get settled into a room. The internet did not work in the first 2 rooms. Third room was fine. Staff offered me nothing for the inconvenience. Lobby and parking is a mess. First 2 rooms still smelled of paint and carpet adhesive.” Oct 2, 2007 by
Kathy from Alexandria, VA
“This was a nice hotel.” Sep 20, 2007 by
Jim from Albany, NY
“Hard to rate as the hotel is torn apart due to major renovations. The rooms are quite nice, but the public spaces are basically closed.” Sep 18, 2007 by
Chelle from East Norriton, PA
“Stayed one night with hubby and two small kids. Pool was fun, room service was ridiculously expensive ($3 service fee per person plus a 20% gratuity included). Excellent pizza place (Ridgeway) nearby delivers free, but hotel charged $1.50 for our one local phone call. I asked front desk to call me when delivery guy arrived, but they sent him directly up to our room with no call. Check in was easy and quick, 9th floor room was almost too quiet; it was a little unnerving, extremely long, dim confusing hallways. Lovely large comfortable room, heavenly beds and shower. Kids club amenities unavailable, but hotel camped breakfast in return for inconvenience. Hard to find from downtown unless you have really good instructions. Overall, a good place to spend the night at the prices.” Sep 17, 2007 by
William from St Petersburg, FL
“This was my worst hotel stay in many years! The hotel is difficult to find and the lobby was completely torn up for construction but this was not the problem. I arrived around 11:00 pm and although the sign said valet parking -- the valet was not on duty and there was no one to help with my luggage. The temperature at night was in the 40's but the heat didn't work. There was construction in the room below mine and there was banging and hammering all day. The room was dirty and the wall mirror was very dusty. The clerk in the gift shop was rude. When I checked out no one even bothered to ask if everything was OK or if I enjoyed my stay. I was extremely disappointed!” Sep 13, 2007 by
Kanokov from Nalchik, Russia
“TV was not working properly. IT was too noisy. People running around at all times of the night. The restaurant was too expensive for the food they served. But the beds and location were great!” Sep 13, 2007 by
Kanokov from Brooklyn, NY
“I stayed at Westin in New York. It was much better. More upscale. It looked like the Stamford one was just a poor man's version of Westin. It was too noisy. I called for toothpaste, and it took the staff 1 hour to bring it to my room. But the beds were great!” Sep 9, 2007 by
Paul from Old Greenwich, CT
“Nice rooms, friendly staff. Hotel is under going a construction of the lobby so there is noise most of the day.” Sep 4, 2007 by
Susan from Stamford, CT
“We enjoyed our stay. Under major construction in lobby and certain floor levels, noise level during the day pretty bad, major dust and extreme noise in lobby. Breakfast in conf rooms not the greatest, but guess did best they could due to construction. Rooms clean and modern. Swimming pool needs modernizing. Extremely bad location of changing area to pool has to walk through gym in swimsuit and the window from gym looking into the pool a little creepy. On the whole a somewhat pleasant stay.” Aug 29, 2007 by
Mary from Ossining, NY
“Check-in took too long because there was only 1 clerk at the desk. The a/c wasn't working and it was 95 degrees outside. It took awhile to fix. Even after it was fixed, it wasn't consistent or cool enough. The pool was the only way to cool off. The bed was very comfortable.” Aug 25, 2007 by
Rick from San Antonio, TX
“We also stayed at the Marriott in Stamford, and would recommend that hotel over the Westin, if you're paying similar rates. You can walk to restaurants and shopping and is generally nicer. The Westin is not easy to locate and not directly off a freeway ramp or in the downtown area. Pool and spa water was very murky and not inviting. They are remodeling the lobby, so hopefully that shows they are upgrading. We've stayed in better 3 star hotels. Definitely not a 4 star. But it was OK for what we paid.” Aug 25, 2007 by
Reynold B. from San Ramon, CA
“The Stamford Westin Hotel is under re-construction and is not in the best shape. The staffing was not necessarily friendly or very helpful. They tried to place me in a terrible room on my first day and the management changed this room which had a leaking toilet, broken tiles in the bathroom, etc. The buffet breakfast was terrible and disorganized and the Wi-Fi connection was not reliable. Parking is limited and shared on three levels with the adjacent office buildings.” Aug 21, 2007 by
Kristina from Norwalk, CT
“The hotel has the capability of being fine, but noisy construction, poor service and poor breakfast buffet accommodations contributed to our unsatisfactory stay. The breakfast buffet that was provided required you to wait for a while for a table, even for two. You could not take the meal anywhere because the silverware and drinks were only provided by a server once you had a seat. We only saw the server once, so any refills on coffee or juice were unavailable. Additionally, our first room was right above construction and was very noisy after we got the room, over the second room smelled like an ashtray. The pool and hot tub need to be updated. The hotel tells you it provides you with a newspaper but we found none.” Aug 20, 2007 by
Jr from Stamford, CT
“Lobby was like a war zone with all the construction.” Aug 18, 2007 by
Maureen from Dalton, MA
“The hotel was under construction but was still very nice. Our room was a bit small but clean and comfortable.” Aug 17, 2007 by
Bryan from Scottsdale, AZ
“Enjoyed our stay” Aug 16, 2007 by
Jae from Cape Elizabeth, ME
“Very difficult to locate this hotel, although it was not far off the interstate. I drove around for quite awhile in some not-so-great neighborhoods before I found the correct combination of one-way streets to get there, where it was tucked away in a business complex. The underground parking lot was a little spooky, and the room was not what I expect from a Westin. It was just a little "beat up" compared to the fine Westins I have stayed at. Walls were thin, awoke several times to other hotel visitors in the hall, room service was fine, though. If it weren't for the noise, it would have been worth the price, but I won't stay there again.” Aug 13, 2007 by
Paul D. from Mequon, WI
“This is a 3 star hotel. The pool was dirty. Food was poor.” Aug 13, 2007 by
Karen from Woodbridge, CT
“Staff was friendly and helpful. Convenient location. Accommodations were tired run down and in need of renovations. Restaurant food could be better. The smoked almonds in room that I'm sure we paid an arm and a leg for were stale.” Aug 2, 2007 by
Gary P. from Saratoga, CA
“This is a sub 4 star, strong 3 stars, needs investment in public spaces, not a true 4 star.” Aug 1, 2007 by
Daniel from New York, NY
“I looked forward to relaxing by the indoor pool; however, it's little more than a bathtub. This hotel is great if you are doing business or for a convention/meeting. Nothing for family and kids.” Jul 28, 2007 by
Bob from New Bern, NC
“Courteous staff, clean rooms, great bedding and pricey. Lobby is spacious but cold looking. Not a very friendly atmosphere. The location of the hotel makes it very difficult to get to even though you can see the hotel from the interstate. Luckily, I have lived in that area so I knew where I was going and still managed to get caught in one way streets and had to go out of my way to find the right street. The price keeps the budget travelers out which are good.” Jul 26, 2007 by
Ron from Middlesex, VT
“Great hotel for business, room is very comfortable, great work out room, nice large pool. Hotel is close to I 95, easy access. About 2 miles from downtown Stanford.” Jul 25, 2007 by
Anna from Wayne, ME
“Once we found our way there, it was very nice. We have stayed in Stamford a couple of times and this by far has been the best.” Jul 25, 2007 by
Bill from Alexandria, VA
“When we arrived in the room, the fragrance was a combination of old smoke and Febreeze. I called the desk about the smoke and was told that it was essentially impossible that the room had been smoked in -- because the hotel charges some exorbitant amount if you smoke in the room. When I inquired if she had told the last person staying in the room that, she said she would send the bellman right up. We exchanged keys for a new room, and carried our things to that room. The new room was smoke free and nicer than the original. The bed was fabulous and the dual shower head so wonderful that it has made me add one to my Christmas Wish List. So, on the plus side, once we got there the room was great - on the minus side, the staff behind the desk wasn't especially welcoming. Since the room rate was great I can live with the other stuff and will gladly try it again when I am in Stamford.” Hotel Representatives:
