• New decoration in rooms and lobby.
• No more cookies during the week or candy at the front desk.

“The new look of the hotel is very clean and modern. The staff is always very helpful. It is convenient to the parkways and railroad station. There is now a bar type restaurant in the lobby where your family can order food and eat it there, or take it to your room; it is open most of the day. There is also a refrigerated section near the front desk with sandwiches, desserts, and beverages.”

• The location.
• Under contraction, no heat in the room, and no help from the desk.

“This hotel is under massive renovations. The lobby is a card table in the middle of plastic sheets. They check us into two rooms, one had been completed the other had not. The room that had not been renovated had no heat, and they did not offer anything help at all.”

• Room was recently renovated.
• Because carpeting was new I had trouble breathing.

“Overall I was disappointed in this hotel. To be fair it is undergoing renovations. I arrived quite late and there was a makeshift reception desk. After checking in I went around the back of the hotel to park and entered through a rear door. The push bar was hanging loose on the inside and did not give one a feeling of confidence. After entering my room, the heater would not kick in. I called down for a wake-up call and the call never came in the morning, so was very disappointed in this stay.”

• The morning breakfast area is wonderful; the gentleman who works there on Monday through Wednesday is excellent.
• The key cards lose void out every day. Have to bring them back and the staff resets every time. I was locked out in the courtyard.

“For the price, the rooms are nice. The pool and Jacuzzi are very nice and well maintained. The staff
is generally nice. I have high praise for the man who handles the breakfast area on Monday through Wednesday. He is competent, friendly, professional and cordial. The weekend manager needs a dose of common sense.”

• Drapes in room need cleaning; breakfast eggs were over cooked and expensive compared with diner.

• Beautiful, has indoor pool, exercise room, pretty landscaping, nice room, clean, spacious, just right.
• There was nothing I didn't like.

“This was the second time we stayed at this hotel and we hope to stay here again. We had our privacy and the staff is excellent. It is a great and affordable place to go with your spouse. It is near Riverdale, the Bronx Zoo and the NY Botanical Gardens. We love it at this hotel and couldn't ask for anything more.”

• Wonderful room with sink area conveniently separate from bath.
• What was wrong with housekeeping?

“This was an extremely comfortable hotel for our purposes of attending a college graduation nearby and visiting NYC. Spacious room and all areas very clean. Internet very available for guests; great hot tub; pretty courtyard, carts always available for loading and unloading. Washer/dryer important to us for our long trip. Our only complaint was housekeeping--which we had problems with on every single day of our 4 day stay. For 4 days, disregarded simple written request for 3rd mug and an extra coffee, but took tip underneath note. One evening arrived and found one bed made, but the other left unmade and room half cleaned--as if started but interrupted. Last evening returned to find air-conditioning had been reset to 85! A hot day and a lot of packing to do so this was a huge problem. We couldn't figure out if this was carelessness or intentional it was so consistent. Other than this, super location--can exit hotel lot directly onto Expressway ramp for NYC or other locations. Three minutes from train station where you can catch train to Grand Central Station.”

• With checkout at noon, housekeeping began harassment every 15 min at 8 a.m.

“While a little out of the way, and with the exit off I-95 placed differently on either side of highway, Rye/Portchester is confusing to navigate. That said, hotel is comfortable, rooms airy, my room had a terrace, and the staff was friendly.”

• A bit noisy due to location near freeway and rail lines.

“Rye Courtyard is conveniently located near I-95 and I-287 highways. It is also close to the Rye commuter rail station. We stayed here and rode the train into the city each day for 5 days.”

“My friend and I stayed at the Marriott for a week and had a nice stay. The hotel is comfortable, but nothing to brag about. The decor was dull and the beds were not that great. If I had to I would stay again, but I would look around before committing to this hotel.”

• Very friendly staff; convenient location.
• The exercise room did not have a recumbent bike for people with knee and back problems.

“Friendly and helpful staff; good location for trains to N.Y. and highways to N.Y. or Conn., Chinese and Italian take-out and supermarket. A car would be really helpful and can be rented from Enterprise in Portchester and they will pick you up, bringing you to their location, and return you to the hotel. Banks, ethnic restaurants, a second supermarket, Costco, Staples, and Michael's (crafts), and other shops within 1 1/2-2 miles. Most rooms have small refrigerators and there is a self-service laundry and there is a small area with snacks, desserts, and sandwiches for purchase. Other hotels have recumbent bikes in their exercise rooms and evening happy hours with complementary appetizers and drinks, as well as complementary breakfasts, and a full kitchen with each room.”

• Very nice staff who tried to be accommodating. Clean, good size rooms, convenient for business travel.
• Did not like being placed in disabled room because closet space for 2 people staying 4 nights was miniscule.

“Good location for travel to NY. By train and major parkways. Parking was convenient. Food store, Chinese restaurant, self service laundry, bank, nearby. Firm beds and clean room, with own control for ac and heat. Helpful staff. Complementary cookies man-hours were nice. Complementary coffee in lounge day and night was nice, though sometimes lukewarm, but quickly changed by staff.”

• Overpriced poor breakfast, poor air conditioning control over 100 degrees during stay controls not working right.

• The rooms were very spacious and clean.
• The breakfast was overpriced its value. We had to wait 15 minutes for a plate.

“The hotel appeared very nice. It had nice entertainment areas. (i.e. pool, lounge, etc.) The staff was not as helpful as the could have been and there was point where I called the front desk and no one answer after a number of rings. I went down to the lobby and the front desk was unattended. The breakfast buffet was $12 a person and the food had run out or was cold. When new food arrived, there were no clean plates to eat on.”

• The staff in the dining area was very rude and unfriendly.

“Overall this was a fairly decent hotel, with the exception for the dining area staff who need some customer service training. The dining staff need to realize that the hotel guests are the ones who are responsible for them maintaining their jobs.”

• The pool is near a noisy highway.

“Excellent choice of hotel. The decor is very nice, not low class. I would definitely stay here again. I had everything I needed. They gave us a refrigerator and microwave for no extra charge. Everything in the room worked well. Excellent value for the price. We were very comfortable and there is a good atmosphere.”

“Conveniently located to parkways into both New York City and to upstate New York. Still far enough back from the road to not seem like you were so close to urban areas. Pleasant outside area in back center of facility with gazebo, Jacuzzi, little Twinkie lights, etc. Pleasant place to stay; very courteous staff.”

• Stayed before and the location is excellent and rooms are nice.

“The staff was very rude and they would not allow me to check in. They claimed that I was late and I was out of a room. They were hostile and have no business dealing with customers. I will be contacting head quarters for this company and I will file a complaint there as well as with the Rye Chamber of Commerce and Better Business Bureau.”
