“We were very happy with hotel. The hotel needs a bit of an upgrade to be a true 3 star upscale but location is what it is all about. It was clean, registration was very pleasant and I would stay there again.”

• Free internet wireless-rare for a business class hotel.

“This would have been an overpriced property if not for Priceline. It is the only business-class hotel in downtown Albany. It is also one block from the state capitol building and near a restaurant district. The staff was friendly and helpful, the property clean and well located.”

• Convenient to capitol.

“Old carpet. Heating in room did not work. Large complex constantly under piecemeal renovation. Seems like the company making this large old complex a money maker.”

• The bed was comfortable and the room's amenities were excellent. The hotel bar & restaurant was good.
• One desk clerk was friendly and helpful; a second who handled a complaint was rude and snappy.

“A repeat visitor of this hotel, I found the facility was clean, comfortable, well-appointed, and pleasant as always. For the first time, there was a glitch -- a non-smoking room that reeked of smoke. When we called to switch rooms, we were dealt with in a rude and surly manor. This is unusual for the Crowne Plaza and I hope an anomaly.”

• Convenient location. Friendly staff. Nice room. Room service breakfast was excellent and server was wonderful.
• Getting to the parking garage and then getting to your car is not routed in a convenient way. Restaurant/bar was understaffed. Food was not hot enough.

• Really hard to think of something I didn't like. Even though the pool is large, an Olympic size one would be better.

“This hotel is the best in the Albany area. I always do my best to stay here whenever I am in the area and would much rather stay here and drive a little more than stay at one of the other hotels in the area to be closer.”

• Good price with friendly staff.
• Need to pay for parking unless you can find one on the street.

“We frequently stay in the Crown Plaza because it is half way between our home and Montreal, where we visit family often. It is always clean and the staff is friendly and accommodating. The pool and hot tub are great, as is the breakfast buffet. Albany is absolutely deserted on weekends but that makes our stay very quiet after a hard day on the road.”

• Rental car agency was located in the hotel.
• This hotel desperately needs an extreme makeover to be considered an upscale hotel.

“Bed was comfortable, location was unexciting, not a very safe area. Hotel restaurant was blah. This was the top rated 3 star hotel in Albany and it could use a major makeover. Tiles in bathroom needed to be replaced. Everything was just kind of old and somewhat dirty. We were only given one coffee mug and one glass in the bathroom. It was nice that there was a free shuttle available from the airport and a rental car agency located in the hotel. That saved us almost $25 in airport taxes. Overall experience was disappointing for the hotel. It was more like an old Holiday Inn.”

• We were there for a wedding. The hotel arranged all the parking in their garage.
• It was all ok.

“Nice pool, convenient parking garage, spacious rooms, free WiFi in the room. Great, centrally located in the downtown area, the proximity to the museum at Empire State Plaza was a plus.”

“This hotel exceeded expectations. The hotel staff was friendly and very helpful with any concerns. We stayed there with a group of over 35 people for my son's wedding which took place elsewhere, but we had a brunch which was also good.”

• They have a housekeeping problem, no one checking up on work done.

“The hotel it self was very nice. The room was a good size. TV reception was spotty so that was a downer from time to time. The TV was fairly new flat screen LG not the best brand. But I think the problem was with their provider. The internet connection was fast and no charge. The room was very quiet and dark at night (6th floor). The housekeeping was another story. We checked in on Friday night about 8:30 pm. The tile on the bath tub and shower wall was spotted with mildew on the grout. The bath tub itself has a non slip mat that is attached to the bottom all around the fringe was mildew. The toilet seat was hanging on by one screw and the room smelled like cigar smoke. I went down to the front desk early Sat morning and voiced my concerns when we got back late Sat night everything was taken care of kudos to management. I always leave something for housekeeping anywhere I stay ($2 or $3) but they just did not follow through a few different times, I was there 9 nights. Forgot to replace shampoo and conditioner a few times, got back late one night bed is half made all the pillows on the chair, forgot to leave paper one morning. They need someone checking up behind housekeeping to make sure the job is being done and if there is someone doing this now they should fire that person because that person i.e. not doing their job.”

• The beds were really comfortable, and the room spacious.
• The bathroom was small and shower strangely low. If I were over six feet, could not use it.

“Great location. This hotel was fairly nice, but its open concept for the lobby and the pool area made for a noisy, public swim. Our room was spacious. There was a narcotics anonymous conference going on, and the members were very social and noisy, and I heard some guests complaining about the noise in early morning hours (3 am). The staff did not seem to address the issue. An issue I had though, with a barely visible movie on our TV, was resolved quickly and without hassle.”

• No instructions on how to use the television inputs for PC.

“Very nice hotel overall. Parking was a bit cramped. As with so many other hotels moving to the LCD televisions, the TV is locked down so as not to allow you to change the aspect ratio for stations not transmitting in HD format.”

• Most of staff, especially the concierge was very helpful and accommodating.
• This is not a 3 star. I would expect better from a 2 star.

“The room during both 2 day stays did not have towels/wash clothes. The property is overall in need of an update. Ice machine did not work on the 11th floor. The drive up for check-in was not open due to it being replaced. I was very disappointed based on my expectations for Crowne Plaza properties. This is our first bad experience.”

• The bathroom was old. The bath was dirty. There was hair on the towels.

“The location was great in the downtown of Albany. Our room was on the 10th floor, nice view of the city. But the bathroom was really old and a bit dirty. There is a nice swimming pool but it needs to be cleaned better.”

“Parking lot under construction- weren't informed by the staff that there was only one way to get from garage to hotel. Key didn't work when we got to the room. No coffee at the coffee stand in lobby. Tried to overcharge for a cup of tea.”

• Excellent beds, good facilities in the middle of Downtown.
• Bathroom was small and could use some modernizing.

“You can't go wrong with the location and facilities at the hotel. The indoor pool and hot tub are pleasant and the gym is well equipped. The beds are excellent and they make full effort to ensure you get a good night's sleep. The rooms are spacious, although the bathroom is small. The pub is great for lunch or dinner.”

• Pretty much nothing. I would prefer an Olympic-sized pool but the one there is much bigger than most.

“It is worth every penny especially when compared to the alternatives. I have stayed at a lot of different hotels in the area and none come close to the Crowne Plaza.”

• The rooms are outdated and desperately need remodeling.

“Helpful staff, rooms were very big although outdated. Rooms were clean. There is a bar and restaurant but I did not have time to use them. There is a small gift shop. Parking was $10.00 per day but I was given a $2.00 discount due to being a priority club member.”

• The chocolate covered pretzels in my room at check in.
• The fur dirt on the vents, the trash in the hallways, coming back for the evening to a dirty room, the smoke that permits the walls in non smoking room.

“The hotel management and staff is not interested in cleanliness or quick response to guest requests. Even with the note that the garage is under re-construction, the lack of interest in cleaning it makes it so that I will never stay there again. I returned home after a long day of work in court with my associates to do a wrap up and regroup for the next days proceedings only to find that it had not been serviced or cleaned. I called down to the desk for immediate service so that I could conduct my meeting and was told that this would happen. One hour later the room had still not been cleaned. My with the MOD was disgusting and unacceptable. I ended up going to another hotel in the area for the meeting. I will be staying at the Marriott from now on when I go to Albany.”

• I really didn't like this hotel at all.
• No mini fridge, staff was horrible, had to pay for parking, this is not a 3 star hotel.

“I would never stay at this hotel ever again. The experience was horrible from the minute I walked into this hotel. First the parking was absolutely horrible. When I got the ticket for parking it said it could be validated but when I went to check out after my stay I was charged, they would not validate the ticket. Also there were like 50 little kids running around the hotel screaming. To check into our hotel it took over an hour as we stood in line and watched most of the staff stand there talking to each other. This caused us to be late to our appointment later that night. Then once we finally got up to the counter to check in I was suppose to get a roll away bed for free with my room, but they said it was going to be an extra 20 dollars. I thought to myself you have to be kidding. Then just to get up to our room on the sixth floor, it took another 30 minutes because kids were playing in the elevators. When we entered the room it was extremely small and there was no mini fridge so everything I had to put in there spoiled. I was on a quite level and it was by no means quite, at 1:00 am there were slamming doors and people yelling. I also asked for a waked up call which came about ten minutes late and almost made me late. Anyways this is not a 3 star hotel by any means.”

• Bathroom is too small, plumbing issue same as my last stay here!

“This Crowne Plaza property is centrally located to everything to do in Albany, NY. The rooms are nice and spacious with plenty of sunlight. It's clean, the staff is attentive and eager to please. The garage parking could use some updating which looks like they were completing during this stay, other than that, I think this is a great property.”

• Had to pay for parking ($10.95/day per car).

“A pleasant place to stay for any type of traveler. Clean, quiet, comfortable. Well-equipped with many little extras. Restaurant on location offers tasty food and serves until 1 AM! On-site parking costs which is understood given the urban location.”

• Elevator smelled badly. Toilet did not flush.

“The hotel had an older run-down feel to it. The smell in the elevator was terrible and there were empty glasses on the tables outside the elevators. We visited two floors because the toilet in the first room did not flush. The people were very nice.”
