• Amenities about on par with a Holiday Inn.

“A pleasant enough place in a good location. Perhaps my expectations for it were too high or perhaps road side. Holiday Inn's are also four star hotels. The room amenities were about the same.”

• The room was charming and the location was convenient.
• Our bathtub kept backing up water. Other than that no complaints.

“The hotel was a great base for exploring New York. The staff were excellent and helpful. The room was a bit small but the layout was very well done with lots of closet space. All in all, the hotel greatly enhanced our stay in New York.”

• The linens, the room layout and size, and the lighting were terrific.
• The heater was incredibly loud and startled me awake at least a dozen times. When I commented on this at check out, all I got was, Sorry.

“Room 512 was comfortable, clean, and the bed linens were wonderful. The bath towels were also sumptuous and had a fresh scent. The bathtub and area where the toilet met the floor was in need of being re caulked and the shower area could have stood some bleach. The most disappointing part was the fact that I went to have a good rest and I was awakened at least a dozen times with the racket. The heater made when it kicked on. When I reported this at check out, I received an apology. How was that to help. The hotel graciously held my bags will I continued with my visit; however, I had to wait almost 30 minutes to have my bags found at departure time.”

• I thought the restaurant inside was very pricey, and the view was bad.

“The hotel and staff were great. I was a bit disappointed at the coincidence desk that he was not more helpful. The door man was much more helpful that the guy behind the desk. But overall, it was perfect.”

• Water did not drain well in wash basin and bathtub.

• The doorman was nice.
• Room, view, price, size.

“My room overlooked a dumpster and the noisy heat and air vents. I also had a king bed but had 3 people so I tried to get the rooms with 2 double beds but they wouldn't make that request. I had a rollout bed and we could barely move around the room. The bathroom was so small, one sink and the tub was old and worn. The furniture was soiled. Will not be staying there again.”

• Spacious rooms, and very helpful concierge.
• Bed was uncomfortable and comforter was stained and dirty, linens were below standard. Waited 2 hours for towels.

• Great location for shopping, clean and courteous.
• A death occurred in our party and we could not get refund for room. Also, construction work outside our hotel was very noisy.

“The Drake is wonderful. We were pleasantly surprised to receive a free upgrade to a suite. It totally exceeded my expectations for a NYC hotel room in comfort, size, and appointments. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.”

• Extremely accommodating, friendly staff.

“There seemed to be very good security at the Swisshotel.This gave me a sense of comfort. The hotel was clean and quiet. Every one who worked there was helpful and polite. The location was perfect for our needs; not too busy an area, yet convenient to shopping, shows, and the subway.We received a suite, and the rooms were made up each day by 2:00 P.M.”

• Air conditioning in my room was not working properly

“Nice hotel, with a very good location. Did not feel too big, service was friendly, and amenities adequate. It felt a little old, like it was due for refurbishing, but it was clean and the furnishings were functional and appropriate. I had problems with the air conditioning in my room, and when I reported this issue the staff did address it and showed they cared (while I was staying there, and when I mentioned it at checkout).”

• Having stayed at other 4STAR hotels I expected more luxury.

“I thought the hotel was clean, the beds were comfortable, the shower was good, the room size was fine. I was just disappointed that the everything wasn't more plush. I stayed at Essex House, and the Intercontinental this hotel was not the same class as those.”

“Great location, near Central Park, theater district, museums and shopping. Accommodations were deluxe. Concierge service was available and helpful. Staff went out their way to be helpful including free room upgrade, stowing our luggage after check out so we could fully enjoy our last day and the bar staff helping us find an excellent sushi restaurant nearby so we could take one last "bite out of the Big Apple"!”

• The staff was very courteous and helpful. The hotel was beautiful, well decorated and comfortable.
• Housekeeping needs to take a closer look at cleaning the shower to combat mold growth.

“The Swissotel New York is a comfortable, beautiful hotel in a quiet area south of Central Park. It was a nice walk to Central Park as well as the Theatre District and Times Square. I'd recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a nice stay in the city. Though it had many nice amenities, expect to pay $10 per day to check your email. For me, finding free wireless internet at a cheap hotel and paying for the same service in a four-star hotel doesn't make sense. That being said, it's a nice stay at the Swissotel.”

• The hotel is definately not a 4*, to old and weared out furnitures etc

“I were disappointed with this hotel, since I thought it would resemble other 4* hotels I have visited, and it didn't. The furnitures are old and weared out, the cleanliness is doubtful, and the restaurant has ridiculously high prices. On the positive side are the very helpful staff, and the safety and luxury of the neighborhood. But I still think that this hotel should be downrated to a 3*”

“The Drake Hotel (swishotel) is conveniently located in the heart of mid-town, 10 blocks(half mile) from Grand Central, 1 mile to Times Square(theatre district),a short walk to MOMA (53rd&5th), restaurants abound on 57th, as well as other nearby locations, shopping on Madison is just two blocks over. The Drake is a fine, older hotel, with a beauty befitting the multitude of architectural styles gracing NYC. The rooms are nicely outfitted and more than adequate in terms of space.My concern was with the reservation clerk's rude behavior toward me. ”

• Location, close to everything, but not in the middle of all the touristy madness.
• Room service carts were left in the hall longer than I would like to see them.

• The staff was kind, the location was convenient for shopping and Central Park
• The bed was very hard, and the hotel wasn't particularly close to the subway

“Pleasant decor, complimented by an equally pleasant staff provides a peaceful stay on sleepy Park Avenue. Very close to high-end shopping on Madison and Fifth avenues, and a nice walk form Central Park, this hotel is ideal for a midtown visitor. Times square and the theatre district are also a likely walk. There is little to do or eat in the immediate hotel surroundings. If you're just looking to shop during the daytime and ready to take cabs frequently, the peace here offers nice solace to the bustling city.”

“The hotels staff and its location were excellent. The room was dirty and the bed extremely uncomfortable. The bedding especially the mattress pad and the sheets were horrible. The bathroom was dirty as well. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms although small and decorated nicely. ”

• The location of the hotel to central park and shopping and subways was excellent! Refrigerator option in room was great!
• Pretty much liked everything

• Extremely comfortable beds and pillows. Quiet room.
• It could have only been more ideal had it been located a bit closer to the subway.

“Very comfortable, quiet room, which is all I really wanted in New York considering I don't spend much time in the room. It was lovely and the accomodations and staff made me feel at home. The room was very nice and there was much attention to detail. I would definitely stay here again.”
