• Great hotel. Beautiful room! Wonderful staff.
• The location was several blocks away from the subway.

“The Swissotel, The Drake, is a wonderful and beautiful hotel located several blocks from Central Park in New York City. The lobby was rather small and I was unsure of what to expect of my room. When I entered the room, I was amazed by its beauty. We had double beds, ample room and an amazing bathroom. My only negative comment about the hotel is the location. It was not bad, however, it was several blocks from the subway. NYC was cold and rainy during our stay, which caused the several block walk to the subway to be that much more dis pleasurable. However, the hotel was still fabulous and I would certainly stay there again!”

• Great location--very nice rooms and decor.
• It was closing for good on Sunday and no one told us in advance.

“This hotel had been sold closed for good the last day of our stay there. The hotel was lovely, but the staff were all about to become unemployed and that was awful. Also, the spa and fitness center were closed, and we had a hassle about being able to store our bags after we checked out on Sunday. No one told us any of this in advance. ”

• Location was fantastic, short walk to Central Park and other nearby attractions.
• I don't have one negative thing to say about this hotel.

“Unfortunately, I've come to learn that the Swissotel in New York City will be closing at the end of this month (April 2006) due to conversion of the hotel into condominiums. I'm glad that we had the chance to experience one of New York's finest establishments prior to its closing.”

• Location is good for business, but often difficult to get taxi because of side street. Had to walk to Park Avenue.
• Upon check in, I was given a very tiny interior room. I expressed my displeasure and then was given a better room.

“This is the first hotel that treated me like a second class citizen for booking through a discount agency.”

• The location is perfect for shopping on 5th ave. and walking to central park.
• Bathroom a little small.

• Very friendly staff despite my 2:30 am arrival.
• Not as helpful getting transport back to JFK as I would have liked.

“This is the old Drake hotel, it has been beautifully restored and renovated. The rooms are spacious, very comfortably appointed and quiet. Though my stay was very brief, I am quite impressed with the Swiss hotel, and would certainly stay there again in the future.”

• Location was excellent.
• Beds were horrendous, wall paper was peeling, and no working environmental controls.

“Our room had peeling wall paper, no working environmental controls (we had to open the windows to get any air movement) and the beds were like granite. If I encountered this bed situation in a Swissotel in Europe, I would understand. This was the Swissotel in NYC. Can't we have a softer bed?”

• Front desk and door men very friendly and helpful. Front desk allowed early check-in of room, which was very nice.
• Concierge was less than friendly. Seemed as if she was put out by our questions.

“The Swissotel The Drake Hotel is definitely a four star quality hotel. The hotel personnel was very friendly and helpful. An early check-in was allowed at noon versus at 3 p.m., which was a relief because we felt more secure leaving luggage in room. Concierge had a not so friendly attitude, but I chalked it up to her having a bad day). The hotel location is central and accessible to shops, Central Park and subway when wanting to explore other areas of NYC.”

• Quiet (mostly), clean, comfortable. Nice hot shower!
• Noisy neighbors, didn't get the newspaper we ordered.

“This hotel was perfectly acceptable. We didn't eat here (way to expensive) and the phone charges are ridiculous. Room was a nice size, temp. control was perfect, bathroom was showing some wear. For the price we paid it was fine, but I would never pay full price. It was very nice, but not remarkable. Good location, many reasonably priced restaurants nearby.”

• Our room wan not made up and we were upgraded to a Suite.
• Construction going on by front-door to make ready for demolition of building.

• The location of the hotel is fantastic.
• The food selections in the bar/restaurant could be improved.

“The Swissotel New York is conveniently located to all that the city has to offer. The room that we stayed in was a little small, but it had all of the amenities that we needed. For the most part the staff was friendly, although some were a little aloof.”

“This is a fabulous hotel. My view was terrible, but the room spectacular for the price. Very quiet and enjoyable. Hotel staff is wonderful. Great if you like taking taxis or walking. Not so close to a subway stop.”

• Elegant, clean, friendly, helpful and convenient for our needs.
• Breakfast buffet was pricey for the quality. Much of the food was not warm enough. Price of buffet was not told to us before bill arrived.

“Elegant hotel with all the amenities. Conveniently located near Central park, shopping, great restaurants and transportation.”

• Rooms did not have full blackout blinds.

“Swissotel is a great place to stay in midtown - near the park, Grand Central Station, shopping, etc., but also very quiet. Rooms have all the essentials and are very clean and comfortable. Great value for a 4-star hotel in this part of Manhattan. Would definitely stay there again.”

“Loved the location, very nice staff, the bed was hard and the toilet ran and you could not get the bath water hot, although the shower was hot. Over all it was a nice place.”

• Room size was larger than standard New York hotels. Clean and quiet.
• Room service prices are ridiculous, mattresses are extremely firm.

“This is an excellent hotel in a great location near shopping, subway stations, restaurants, etc. The staff was friendly and helpful. While the hotel building is older, it has been maintained very well. Our room was on the 16th floor so street noise was never a problem, amazing in New York City!”

“This hotel is in a good location. Nice rooms, sheets were very starchy and bed was very hard. We got a good deal on the rate so weren't too disappointed. If we'd paid full price we would not have been happy. The staff were not helpful, especially the concierge.”

• Everything you need to know and do in NYC is within walking distance; from Central Park to the comedy clubs on Broadway.
• No complaints. Everything exceeded my expectations.

“This hotel was wonderful. Everything was within walking distance and if not, cabs were lined up to take you were you wanted to go. The hotel has a comfortable atmosphere. The lounge is great and everything was reasonably priced. I really enjoyed being able to walk out the hotel and having Central Park nearby and also being able to walk to Time Square and Broadway!”

• Very clean and nicely remodeled.
• Very hard beds.

“This is a fine hotel. Newly renovated, excellent shower, very clean, nice staff. Not too big, friendly staff. While the bed pillows and bedspreads were highest quality, the mattresses are very hard. This was the only thing I did not like about the hotel, but of the time we were there, almost all of it was spent in bed, so it detracted from the experience. Mattress were not up to the rest of the hotel.”

“My husband and I celebrated our 7 year anniversary at The Drake, Swissotel and it was exactly what we needed. From the valet parking, to the speedy check in, to the 1 hour massages, to the handsomely decorated room, to the bar in the restaurant to the location of the hotel. We wanted for nothing. The staff were happy to help with whatever we asked, whether it be a good for lunch or leaving our bags for a few hours after check out. We will definitely be back to The Drake.”

• They charge $45 extra dollars to valet park our car and park it for the night.

• We specifically wanted a room on an upper floor with a view and they were very accommodating.
• Doorman service in terms of help with hailing a cab was terrible.

“We have stayed here before and always enjoy it. Smaller and more intimate than the Sheratons, Hiltons, etc. and much more welcoming in feel. Staff is very helpful and friendly. We especially enjoyed the complimentary buffet in the beautifully decorated restaurant.”

• Great location, very clean rooms, great amenities. Loved it.
• Drink prices were a little steep, but that's what you expect in New York at a great hotel. We had a great time and didn't mind the higher prices.

“Hotel is located between 56 and Park Ave. Great shopping location. Plenty of great restaurants. Not far from Time Square and Broadway shows. Bus and subway very easy to access. Hotel staff very attentive and friendly. I will make every effort to stay at this hotel again.”

• Our bathtub kept backing up water. Other than that no complaints.

• The linens, the room layout and size, and the lighting were terrific.
• The heater was incredibly loud and startled me awake at least a dozen times. When I commented on this at check out, all I got was, Sorry.

“Room 512 was comfortable, clean, and the bed linens were wonderful. The bath towels were also sumptuous and had a fresh scent. The bathtub and area where the toilet met the floor was in need of being re caulked and the shower area could have stood some bleach. The most disappointing part was the fact that I went to have a good rest and I was awakened at least a dozen times with the racket. The heater made when it kicked on. When I reported this at check out, I received an apology. How was that to help. The hotel graciously held my bags will I continued with my visit; however, I had to wait almost 30 minutes to have my bags found at departure time.”

• I thought the restaurant inside was very pricey, and the view was bad.

“The hotel and staff were great. I was a bit disappointed at the coincidence desk that he was not more helpful. The door man was much more helpful that the guy behind the desk. But overall, it was perfect.”
