  • Location.
  • The room was a maids closet. Smaller than average size of a normal (small) NYC deluxe hotel room.

“My 4 star deluxe hotel was a maid closet with 67$ parking. The location was pretty good. The shower head was broken, the toilet didn't quite flush, and there was foundation makeup splattered on a conserve water sign on the sink.”

  • Tub was plugged, hallway dirty, dishes left in walkways all day and tables very dusty.

“The Grand Hyatt has a spectacular location. You can walk to many tourist locations and the subway is attached to the hotel so that you may access areas outside of uptown Manhattan. The staff could not have done more to make our stay exceptional. I would highly recommend this hotel to all.”

  • No coffee or tea machine in the room.

“The staff was very courteous, helping and friendly. The guy who checked me in was awesome. He gave a room with great view on request as my wife was visiting Manhattan first time. He helped me to get Hyatt points and called in room to make sure that we are comfortable.”

  • Where's the coffee/Tea making facilities.

“A first class hotel with excellent facilities and the ideal central location for all areas of Manhattan and central station. The room was clean and well presented. The fresh air smell was pleasant (no signs of smokers...essential) and my view great. I requested a later check out and this was obliged with no extra charge. A bit disappointed that there was no cable internet facilities( much more secure) and pretty much every other hotel in Manhattan provide coffee and or tea making facilities in the room”

  • Convenient automated check-in/out. Great location.
  • Room smelled bad. Room needed updating badly. Surprising for a high end hotel.

“Great location. Automated check-in/out made this process hassle free. Room we were in was badly in need of overall updating and cleaning, and the air conditioning didn't function properly. Very surprising for a high-end hotel that otherwise is beautiful. Valet parking is expensive $57 per 24 hours, but at least it was convenient.”

  • Arrived at 10 am yet they checked us in early,,so appreciate it. The front desk was friendly .

“Can't beat the location. Arrived with my 2 teen aged kids at 10am prepared to wait till 3pm for the official check in but the front desk gave us a room right away and she was warm and cordial. We drove from northern New England and the parking services (though expensive at $57)was great,, so was the pick up.”

  • Loved the subway system right in the hotel, didn't have to go outside in the rain and cold.
  • They surprised us with a $57 parking fee per night. We paid $114 total and money we didn't plan on using there.

  • Prices in bar, guests who buy their breakfast at the lobby bar and do not bring it to their room sit down in the lobby with trays and napkins.

  • The hot water didn't work - and they didn't tell us when we checked in - I gave a freezing cold shower to my 2 toddlers and took cold one my self.

“Called to confirm room at about 2pm and asked for a pair of double beds, told would have to wait until arrival for confirmation of that. When we arrived at 7pm we were told that there was no hot water (there had been none since 10am) and that it was not expected to be back on until 10pm. We arrange to meet some friends at 11 so we can take some hot showers, and at 11 we leave still with no hot water. The hotel refused to offer any sort of compensation the next morning even though they didn't bother to tell us about the lack of hot water when we called (and had time to find another hotel), and then after we waited an hour past when they said it would be on.”

  • The housekeeping staff knocked on the door at 9am on a Saturday morning, and again soon after.

“The upholstered furniture in the room was dirty. I had to use a towel to cover the chairs. There is no refrigerator and the room was very dark--no access to sunlight.”

“The Grand Hyatt (next to Grand Central Station) has a perfect midtown location, great access to subway, wonderful accommodations, friendly/helpful staff. It was exceptionally clean, comfortable and customer-friendly. Plus the Priceline rate was exceptional.”

  • The in lobby computer/printer kiosk to do on line check in for flight was excellent!
  • The lobby is crammed with people who are lingering & noisy.

“This hotel is superb for location & value. The high speed elevators are terrific! The room was well designed and spacious and quiet! The lobby can seem a bit of a zoo atmosphere with people hanging out who are most likely not staying there. But overall it is a great place to stay, I would recommend to all friends & family!”

“Told check in girl
did diamond check in all the way to the left counter. She was fabulous best ever [and I'm very descriminating]. Sent a nice fruit basket/wine to my son for his 40th Birthday. Both of them made our trip memorable.”

  • Absolutely nothing.
  • Extremely poor. Old, dirty, unfurnished and claustrophobic.

“This hotel is one of the worst I have stayed in since visiting NYC. I've been to about 10 other hotels, while many were unimpressive as well, very few compare to this experience. The room decor seemed to be from the 1940's, furniture seemed to be missing, only a bed and a desk, and there were toe-nails on the ground. The window view was so close to another part of the building that no matter what time it was, it seemed it was nighttime. I would not recommend this hotel to anybody, especially if on vacation. I stayed for business, and will never select a 4 star hotel in Midtown-East again due to this poor excuse for a 4 star hotel.”

“I would definitely recommend staying at the Grand Hyatt. Very nice hotel lobby and rooms. The front desk staff and concierge was very friendly and welcoming. Check in was a breeze. They even let me check into my room very early. Try the Black/White cookies at the coffee shop.”

  • Location. East Side location was interesting since usually stay in West Side when visiting NYC. We enjoyed the local neighborhood.

  • There was $10 daily fee for internet access.

“The Grand Hyatt is a very nice upscale NYC hotel in a wonderful location, next door to Grand Central Terminal and other transport, and close to Times Square and mid-town Manhattan sights. The hotel has a friendly staff, helpful concierge, smallish but nicely appointed rooms, free food in our club-level floor, and decent in-hotel restaurants and shops. Apparently they have extensive meeting and party facilities: they had a prom, a wedding party and several meetings while we were there.”

  • Would have rather had one king or queen than two full size beds.
