“If you want NYC economy, this is it. Low cost, clean, convenient to upper west side NYC & subways. Do not expect a full service hotel. This is a basic - no frills facility. Safe location.”

• The staff responded fairly quickly to our complaints and were overall friendly.
• The curtains were filthy and ripped, the hot water didn't work and the toilet got stopped up.

“This was the worst hotel experience I have ever had. The room curtains were filthy and ripped. The hot water didn't work our first night there. And on the last day before check out - the toilet got stopped up, not once but twice (again after maintenance came and fixed it!) The closest ice machine was 4 floors down. The only good thing was that the staff were polite and friendly and responded fairly quickly to out complaints.”

• Price was high for quality, beds sagged badly, old furnishings.

“The hotel was in a great location, quiet and overall comfortable. However, the furnishings in our room are very old and need to be updated. The price was a bit high for the quality-even in New York. I would have been fine with the price had the quality of the room been a bit better. It is an old building but it worked fine for us. We (two young females) always felt safe and loved the fact that the Subway was right there. The staff was very attentive and fast with solving problems.”

• Great location 1 block from subway. Big room for NYC.
• Hot water in the shower was scalding hot.

“Parking garage on the next street over was only $33 a day. Subway was only 1 block away. Central Park is in easy walking distance. Yankees stadium is about 15 minutes by subway. Safe neighborhood, walked back to room after 2 am felt very safe.”

• The location. Direct access to subway. Close to Central Park (5 minute walk).
• The elevators are so slow and no AC in the hallways. You sweat a lot just waiting for an elevator.

“Better than I expected. Clean and the location is excellent. It's what I would expect from a hotel room. I was just pleasantly surprised to see that for this amount of money what you would expect from a hotel here in Canada. I would stay there again with out any hesitations.”

“The air conditioning didn't work, the carpets were dirty, the hall was dirty, the faucets in the bathroom didn't work properly, the furniture was outdated, the walls were dirty, the TV didn't work properly and was old. This was by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.”

• It was so quiet at night that I could not believe that I was in New York.
• The elevator was very scary. At times it jerked on its way down you thought it would crash down.

“My family and I enjoyed our hotel stay there was always a place to eat at all times of the day. They made sure to tidy up the room everyday some hotels we have stayed in never came to change the towels. The staff was friendly checking in and out.”

• Great price for NYC and close to a Subway stop.
• Could not get light bulb or TV remote batteries replaced in the four days I was there.

“Overall it is a good, clean hotel in a nice neighborhood. Not five star, but for a business traveler who just needed a place to sleep, it worked fine. They did not have wireless access in the rooms, but we were there only to sleep so it did not matter.”

• I liked the solidity of the building. I rarely heard my neighbors.
• The room was so drafty; I had to order extra blankets to cover the window ac vent, and asked the desk for a space heater.

“Location is great! The inexpensive but good cafe just up the street is convenient. There are several perks in the neighborhood. A 24/7 corner store, McDonald's, Starbucks, drug store open 24/7, were all on the block. Walk to the Park, Subway entrance on block, too. Staff was so courteous and helpful for all of our requests.”

• The location and service.
• We had to pay for an upgrade to get 2 full size beds since there were 2 adults & 2 kids.

“It turned out to be better than I expected since it was only rate at 1 star and I also expected it to be way out of town. It is close to the subway and that made it very convenient for travel. The one bed thing was we found 2 roaches in the bathroom and we were scared that they will get in our luggage. The beds and sheets were soft and comfortable.”

• The staff was great. Very friendly, helpful, will go out of there way to accommodate. Nice lobby, clean bathroom.
• Layout. Did not see any security; rooms, halls very dirty; beds worn, 20" TV; very small room.

“Will not stay again. Other than lobby, dirty halls, rooms, and elevator. Needs a lot of renovations, work on layout of floor plan as to how the rooms are located. Like a maze. If traveling with another couple, don't expect to bunk next to each other, although you can be on same floor.”

“This was less than a 1 star hotel. Threadbare sheets and blankets, shower was uncontrollable and bathroom had paint peeling, water stains and mold. The in room coffeemaker overflowed and flooded all over the counter. The a/c unit was duct taped into the window and walls on the inside of the closet were covered with graffiti.”

“Room had fake antiques in room for furnishings. My Armoire door was unhinged and kept banging into the entrance when someone used it. There were dead insects, hallow mucous, and mold all behind the bathroom door. The metal plate in the bathroom was encrusted with dust all around the edges of this plate, and there was a splatter of blood on the wallpaper. At one place, the wallpaper was peeling off the wall. I addressed this with the staff that took care of 90% of this, but I dont think that should have been my first impressions. The wallpaper is antique in nature, but is stoic and gloomy. Seeing that dark molding is used, a nicer and brighter hue should have been used. Oh and I was greeted by 2 different cockroaches in the bathroom. This is the only hotel in NY that I stayed at that had a problem with insects.”

• The people were very friendly.
• Construction being done on the building right outside of our window starting at 8 a.m.; sleep was impossible.

“The staff was friendly; however when we first arrived the air conditioner in our room was not working. We notified the front desk who said they would have it fixed while we were out. When we returned the A/C was still not working. After reminding the desk of the problem it was immediately taken care of. When we checked in at 3 pm there was construction going on outside of our room. The noise was very loud, and actually caused the room to vibrate. Construction stopped sometime while we were out, but we were woken up at 8 am by the same construction which made it impossible to sleep in that morning. My only question is if they know construction will be going on why would they book rooms in that portion of the building. The only answer I could come up with is that they just didn't care.”

• Small lobby, usual crowded with well-behaved but noisy tour groups. Renovations a temporary inconvenience. Elevators slow.

“A clean, well-run hotel on the Upper West side residential and shopping area; very close to subway and thus only minutes away from Times Square as well as Greenwich Village, Soho and the South Ferry. A bit high priced for the nature of the facilities, but rates lower rates in effect weekdays (Sunday-Thursday).”

• TV didn't work; wireless Internet not reliably strong, but apparently no bugs or mice.

“Given that all NY hotels are shockingly expensive for very little in amenities, Days Hotel Broadway was at least quiet and still has smoking rooms. The location is excellent for Upper West Side business. The shower worked (although it takes a long time for the hot water to arrive) but the TV did not. Still, not bad.”

• The location just off Broadway on the upper west side was convenient for meetings in Manhattan. Many good restaurants and after hours venues nearby.
• The room was in disarray with litter from the previous guest tossed about, the bed unmade, towels unchanged.

“I might have gotten a better impression of this hotel if the bed had been made up and the room cleaned up after the previous guest. As it was I had to sleep in a bed which was left unmade after the previous guest on what seemed to be the unused side¿s did tell the person at the desk about the condition of the room as soon as I checked in. Then I went out and did not return till around midnight. I was far to tired to fuss with changing rooms or calling maid service. I just collapsed on the unmade side of the bed and complained on checking out early next morning to get my plan. I do not know if the refund I requested will be credited on my visa. Otherwise the hotel seems comfortable and cozy enough, providing good value considering the location just off Broadway close to restaurants and entertainment venues.”

“This place is one of those pathetic places that rate themselves 3 start higher than they are- due to location. The place is undergoing continuous reconstruction. The gym consists of 3 broken pieces of equipment. You could not see the lobby for bags stowed in the entrance and people milling around due to lack of chairs as they presumably waited for their rooms. Total shambles!”

• The hotel was close to attractions and near a subway stop.
• The hotel was going through renovations.

“This is a great place to stay if you only need a place to stay the staff is friendly and the rooms are clean. It was close to all the attractions we wanted to see 2 blocks from central park, less than a mile from the met. Museum and fifty meters from a subway station. Plenty of good restaurants in a safe neighborhood. It¿s a little messy because of remodeling.”

“The Days Hotel is good for the budget traveler. It has reasonably convenient parking facilities and is right next to a drug store and a subway station and several restaurants. The rooms are rather old and worn but clean. The wireless access was useful, but there was no real business center.”

• The Asian people who worked at the hotel were really kind, generous and considerate to us.
• This hotel doesn't provide parking lot. It is not like their advertisement on the phone. So, we had to use hertz parking lot with $27,.

“This hotel is located in the middle of the city of Manhattan. So, it was convenient for us to reach most attractions in new York city. However, compared to the price, this hotel doesn't provide enough facility to the consumer. Specifically, because they don't have a parking lot, we had to use hertz parking lot which was on the next street. I heard that they have their own parking lot and provide it free to the consumer on the phone. But, it was not like that. Because of the one way system and complicated new York city mechanism, we had hard time to find out the parking lot and park our car. The hotel facility was not fancy, but just enough for rest and sleeping. However, the Asian people who worked at the hotel were really helpful and kind.”

“Currently undergoing 2 year renovation. Rooms and hallways are tiny and old, used to be a residence hotel. Do not get a room overlooking Broadway because it's noisy at night. Very nice staff, clean rooms, in a nice area across street from symphony space.”

• Great value. Staff was excellent, room quiet, bed comfortable, and neighborhood outstanding.
• The room was not in the best condition (old carpet, etc.), but not terrible either.

“We were very pleased with our experience. For the price, we couldn't have asked for a more convenient hotel with very friendly staff and reasonably pleasant rooms. We had a sound night sleep. On the other hand, we did find the previous guest's underwear in a drawer and the room was not maintained as you would expect in a more upscale hotel. Still, we felt safe, comfortable, and pleased with our choice--especially since the price left us with more money to spend in NYC!”
